After Akun had slamd the door to his room shut, he sank into the plush bed, the stress of the day leaving his shoulders in a whoosh. With a sigh, he muttered a command to the system. "Unequip my armor and trench coat."
A montary shimr of light enveloped him, stripping away his outfit. He was now dressed in simple attire – a white shirt and brown leather pants. His long silver hair flowed freely down his back, montarily covering the silver hair pin that held it in place. Explore more stories with My Virtual Library Empire
He felt restless. He clenched his fists till they beca white. He called out to the system with frustration in his voice, "Is there anything, anything at all, you can tell about Aric?"
Silence. Then, the familiar, emotionless voice of the system echoed in his mind. †[Unfortunately, insufficient privileges exists to access any information about the individual designated 'Aric'.]†
Akun let out a low growl, removing the system window away from his point of view with a swipe of his hand. "This is frustrating. If… if it was truly I who sent him here, why? Why send him at all? Shouldn't the of the future be strong enough to handle things on his own?"
†[-AD- Has grown slightly!]†
The system then chid in, †[It would be best if the player took a more direct approach to understanding things rather than relying on the system.]†
Akun let out a deep, weary sigh as he sank onto the bed, the soft feathers inside it shifting to accommodate his weight. He muttered, "I already knew that was going to be the case. The announcer ntioned he was a student from so 'Royal Castle Academy.' Maybe I can go there, try to have a conversation with him, and find out what his mission is."
Akun stretched his hand into the air above him as if trying to grasp an invisible thread, his fingers curling and uncurling. He added, "But I strongly doubt he would just tell what I want to know because I asked him. If I went as far as to prevent myself from being able to look at his status window, then there is a high possibility I must have also told him not to tell anything."
He paused, his mind churning with thoughts. Sothing was coming, sothing so important that he couldn't even trust himself with it. Was it truly a precaution, or had his future self beco… greedy? Did he crave more power, or was it sothing else entirely? Perhaps there was sothing he desperately hoped to change, sothing so delicate he couldn't even trust himself with it.
Akun sighed again, his hand dropping onto the mattress as he rolled over, grabbing the single pillow and placing it under his head. "This is all starting to feel like what happened when I tried to rge the tilines. I had a fallout with my alternate self, who got sucked into that ti tunnel.
I hope sothing like rging won't co up again, and I won't have to face a future version of myself with his own motives."
He let out a small, bitter chuckle, sensing the irony in his situation. "Talk about karma. What goes around cos around, I guess. But… I really hope it doesn't co to that." He chuckled again, shaking his head. "Who would have thought a day would co when I can't even completely trust myself? My life seems to always get more and more complicated."
As he lay there, staring at the ceiling, mories of past encounters and battles flashed through his mind. The weight of his experiences pressed down on him, and he wondered how much more he could bear. The uncertainty of his future actions haunted him, making it difficult to discern friend from foe, even within himself. The room around him seed to close in, the walls echoing his doubts and fears.
He had co far from that scared boy who was initially summoned as a hero. He had much to protect now, much to lose, and many he held dear whom he couldn't bear to part with.
anwhile, in Kaldarix's room, the gold dragon monarch himself was also restless. Still clad in his golden armor, it appeared as though he intended to use it, despite the fact that night had long fallen.
He had noticed that Chrono Nexus's presence had suddenly vanished. His father was a couple of rooms away, lost in thought, and so of the others seed to be fast asleep. "It seems that human woman Hestria is fast asleep, and so is Genreia," he mused, gazing through the walls with his dragon eyes. Looking into the next room, his gaze fell on Azara.
She appeared flustered as if sothing important was on her mind… perhaps her mother's words.
Kaldarix paid little attention to it, his focus now on soone else. "llin, it seems she isn't sleepy yet," he mused, narrowing his gaze at her.
He mused further, "If she has yet to fall asleep, then I can approach her now and have 'that' talk." Kaldarix had a matter of importance on his mind, regarding Akun, their current predicant, and perhaps if she was interested in joining him in exacting their revenge.
Kaldarix rose from his bed, his golden draconic crest appearing in his eyes as he encased himself in silence magic. A blue hue emanated from his body, causing his steps and the process of opening his room door to be completely soundless.
He proceeded to walk down the hall and stopped before llin's room, noticing her gaze upon him through the door with her dragon eyes, an icy intensity lingering in their depths.
"Kaldarix, what is it?" llin asked through a telepathic link. "What's causing you to approach my room so late at night?" she continued, the tone of her thoughts imbued with curiosity and a hint of caution. Kaldarix's display back at the arena, where he had gone slightly out of control, had made her unconsciously raise her guard towards him.
"I just want to talk, llin. It's nothing but that, I promise," Kaldarix replied, trying to convey that he ca in peace. To just talk? It was obviously more than that, or why the need to mask his presence with such a powerful silence spell enhanced by his draconic crest? llin knew sothing was up with him, but she knew he would never harm her.
Even though she wasn't aware of the full scope of his motives, she knew she could still trust him.
"Co in," she said, her words echoing through his thoughts.
