Chapter 548: Countless Techniques & Another Sacrifice

As soon as the golden brilliance emerged and the patterns lit up, several figures took form behind the Elder.

They had distinct appearances, with their only shared characteristics being that they were all old and that their auras were extremely powerful.

Even the weakest among them far surpassed Rank 7, being on a similar level as the Nine-Headed Hydra Liora had once faced.

Several abilities flowed out of their hands.

Light, darkness, vegetation, weapons.

Everything that could be used as an attack was hurled in her direction.

Once someone had reached Rank 7, their talents were no longer simple, regardless of how weak they might once have been.

Having fused with their respective Laws, they provided the Awakener with extraordinary control over the aspect that their talents represented.

Facing the barrage of attacks, Liora remained utterly calm.

She merely glanced at the projectiles firing in her direction and casually waved her hand in front of her.

Instantly, the space before her rippled, and a blue mirror-like surface appeared.

As soon as the projectiles landed on it, another ripple occurred, and the attacks vanished into it.

When they reemerged, they were right behind their own casters.

Darkness slammed onto the man with the darkness-related talent, and the same was true for those wielding weapons or manipulating plants.

A tremor rushed through the phantoms.

The next moment, several booms echoed. They could not withstand the impact and broke apart.

The Elder’s expression turned serious.

She had expected Liora to be strong, but she would have never expected that the gap between them would be so great.

After all, from the mastermind’s previous actions—of summoning Devils and never showing up in person—everyone, including her, suspected that the culprit was not too strong.

At most, the Elders were fearful of their bizarre abilities and their future potential.

This is also what gave the Elder the confidence to stay here so calmly.

Besides the fact that this was their stronghold and it had long been altered to fight against invading enemies, the underestimation of Liora’s abilities also played a greater role.

Liora watched the Elder’s expression shift.

But she also noticed that the other party did not give up.

The Elder waved her golden scepter once more.

The same phantoms materialized behind her. However, this time they were acpanied by many others.

A middle-aged man wearing crimson armor and wielding a halberd. A woman wearing a blue crown and surrounded by ice. A young-looking man whose gentle smile somehow inspired dread…

Within moments, the phantoms had filled a large part of the chamber, numbering in the hundreds.

Unlike the Elders, whom Liora had never met before, she was able to recognize these phantoms.

She had seen them. Or rather, her Blood Clone had seen them.

They were the Human Ancestor Spirits enshrined in the Human Shrine, whose inheritance Aaron was currently obtaining under her guidance.

“Hmm?”

Liora raised an eyebrow, her face filled with curiosity.

“A talent that can summon the projections of the past onto the present?”, she muttered.

“No.”, she suddenly shook her head.

“There is also the power of faith and the aura of humanity. This is not a simple time-related talent. Several Laws have been fused into it.”

Her words made the Elder’s expression change once more.

She hadn’t expected that this Otherworld Demon could see through her talent’s mystery with a single glance.

Obviously, the woman before her was not only powerful but also extremely knowledgeable regarding Awakeners and their abilities.

This realization made her appreciate Liora. But at the same time, it made her even more determined to take her down!

She felt that Liora was simply too terrifying! She could not afford to let such a person go!

Otherwise, humanity would suffer greatly.

Liora faced the result of this silent decision.

The phantom at the front, a middle-aged man who seemed to exist solely for war and battle, flashed in the sky above her and brought his halberd down with all his strength.

Subconsciously, Liora wanted to strike back using one of her many abilities.

But just then, she suddenly remembered something.

Her movements halted.

The next instant, the Sinforce in her body transformed into a giant halberd, and she swung to meet the one right above her.

Their movements appeared to be similar, as though they had studied halberd techniques under the same person.

Yet despite that, the oute was decided nearly instantly.

The man’s halberd was pushed to the side and thrown away as the edge of Liora’s weapon continued unabated and buried in his abdomen.

The phantom shattered.

Liora did not pause.

She let the halberd in her hand dissipate back into Sinforce before turning around and casually waving her hand.

Ice elements gathered. They transformed into a rain of ice spikes and weapons, shooting to meet what appeared to be their clones.

The result was no different.

Within moments, the woman who resembled the Goddess of Ice perished.

Then Liora pointed forward, and a beam of light shot out. Trees arose around her and bound her enemy like tentacles…

Whatever method the enemies employed to attack her, Liora would use the same, with far greater mastery than they displayed.

The phantoms in the chamber began to dwindle, falling under the same techniques they were once so proud of.

At first, the Elder merely found it surprising that Liora was familiar with so many bat methods.

But as time passed and the few remaining phantoms were also destroyed in a similar way, her pupils shrank.

Monstrous!

If it were not for Liora’s obvious lack of Rank 11 aura, the Elder would have believed that she had reached the level of the Human Emperor.

Such a thought arose in her mind, but she quickly pushed it aside.

For her, the Human Emperor was more than a leader. He was her deity.

paring him to someone else—much less the bloodthirsty Otherworld Demon before her—felt like a blasphemy.

The hundreds of phantoms did not last for long. Only a few minutes after their appearance, the last one among them shattered.

Liora once again landed on the ground at the place where she had previously stood.

Her appearance remained spotless.

Her breathing was steady, and no trace of wounds could be seen on her body, as though the previous war had been an illusion.

Clasping her hands behind her back, she looked at the Elder, who had not taken a step since the battle started.

Then, her eyes settled onto the Human Emperor statue.

“What are you waiting for? Could it be that you believe that the Human Emperor is alive and you wish to force him to appear?”

Liora chuckled. She shook her head.

“I’ve already searched your entire world. That person no longer exists. Perhaps he has left the secret realm, or perhaps he has long perished…”

“…Either way, there is no chance that he will e to stop me, just as he did not appear when your panions sacrificed themselves.”

A trace of fury flashed in the Elder’s eyes. She didn’t try to suppress it, but instead spoke up.

“Demon! Those matters do not concern you! You ask me what I’ve been waiting for?”

“I’ll let you see!”

As soon as she finished speaking, the golden patterns along the demi-plane grew even more brilliant.

The next instant, they gathered into a giant beam that pierced through space and time.

It landed directly on the Imperial City, engulfing it in its entirety.

Overlapping agonized screams echoed. Millions of auras instantly faded, each representing the loss of a human life.

But as a result, a terrifying aura arose within the Human Temple’s demi-plane.

One that closely resembled that of the Human Emperor Sword, but also seemed vastly different.
