Chapter 189: Outsiders
Though this being stood not far away from her, Liora could not make out its true appearance.
Its body seemed to be covered in a veil of illusory light, excluding both her sight as well as her consciousness’s investigation.
Yet, it didn’t require much thinking to guess this being’s true identity.
Immediately, Liora understood that they were the mastermind behind the beasts’ riot and the one who had previously targeted her.
Time seemed to pause for a few seconds as Liora and the unknown creature stared at each other silently, one sizing the other up.
That was until, suddenly, the two took action in unison as if they had agreed beforehand.
The illusory silhouette stretched its hand and pressed it towards her, while Liora took the Bloodforge Halberd out and swung it in its direction.
Though the two were not next to each other, their attacks seemed to travel through space and struck one another.
The palm fell on Liora’s abdomen, while the halberd wished to tear the unknown person’s body in half.
Unfortunately, both of the attacks had the same result—they were easily neutralized.
Liora’s blow passed through the the creature without as much as landing, as if the halberd and the creature existed in different dimensions.
On the other hand, the beings’ palm struck her abdomen but failed to cause any damage.
A low clang echoed and her skin absorbed the impact like steel facing a mortal’s punch.
The fact that the two attacks did no harm did not lessen the tension in the place.
If anything, it made the atmosphere even more fiery.
A heartbeat later, Liora put the halberd away and the two people attacked once again.
They didn’t use any abilities but instead fought fiercely using their physical bodies.
Fist against fist and leg against leg.
The strength of two Lesser Devils were not to be underestimated.
If it were in the Demon World, let alone Lesser Devils, even Archdevils would be able to fight without causing any damage to the world itself.
But in this low-level world, the fight of two Lesser Devils should have been enough to change the landscape in a range of many kilometers around them.
Yet, surprisingly, the two did not bring any harm to the land around them.
It was as if the people fighting were two ordinary mortals rather than two terrifying beings.
Only the faint trembling of the space around them betrayed their real hidden power, showcasing their control over their own strength.
The battle, or rather the testing, did not last for long.
Soon, the two retreated back to their original positions, looking as if nothing had happened.
However, Liora had secretly turned solemn. Her suspicions had indeed been true.
The mastermind behind the beasts’ riot was not an ordinary Lesser Devil. Though this had been a mere test, it was more than enough for Liora to confirm this.
If it had not been for the unexpected transformation of the Myriad Devils Body, which had brought her enhanced defenses and improved physical strength, she would have never been able to contend with this being.
But at the same time, it was obvious that she could not do anything to them.
Subconsciously, Liora couldn’t help but feel as if she had returned to the Crucible.
There, she had "made a living" off her powerful defenses, often overpowering opponents far stronger than her simply through ignoring their attacks.
The current situation was quite similar to her of than time.
Of course, the strength of her opponent had also changed accordingly.
Looking at the illusory silhouette standing in front of her, Liora remained on guard.
But on the surface, she seemed relaxed.
"Who are you? Why did you suddenly attack me for no reason?
