"Why would Elaine want to train under your supervision, Moyu? What's going on with her?" Li ili asked her best friend. She hadn't heard from Elaine for a while, which was pretty normal since Elaine was in touch with Tang Moyu and Lu Tianxin more than anyone else in Shenzhen.
Although she heard that Elaine Wu called off her engagent with Ye Xiaozu, the young heiress was now facing great pressure from her own family. She needed to prove that she was worthy to inherit and run their family business in Singapore without relying too much on anyone.
"As you know, Elaine is inexperienced in this field. She needs to learn how to handle problems as they arise. Just because she's born as an heiress, doesn't an that problems would solve on their own and she can slack on her job. I heard her father gave her one year to learn on her own, after that she will be given a test to know if she's capable enough." Tang Moyu explained.
Li ili flopped unladylike on her huge bed, staring at the ceiling with a bored expression on her face. The room was dimly lit by the light coming from the moon outside her balcony.
Sohow, she could relate to Elaine Wu. Being born into a wealthy family, she also faced problems such as inheritance and marriage issues. Daughters like her and Elaine wouldn't be able to leave their families easily. Freedom was a foreign word for heiresses like them.
Wasn't this one of the reasons she decided to venture out on her own with Tang Moyu's help? At least now she didn't need to rely on the Li family's wealth and status to be able to leave her own mark within the society.
"Would she be alright then?" She asked the empress worriedly. After all, it wouldn't be easy for Elaine to start from scratch. "Beijing is different from Singapore. I'm not sure if she would be able to survive on her own."
"I don't see the problem, ili. This should be a good starting point for her if she wants to survive in the business world. She would gain invaluable experience from it. Don't worry, ili. I'll also find soone who could assist her in Beijing. You only need to focus on working on a design that could land you for a nomination for Best Designer of the Year." Tang Moyu said.
Best Designer of the Year? Li ili almost forgot about that. She hadn't been paying attention to the competitions much. Liu Ruoyan had already won the title for the past five consecutive years.
Although The Black Nightingale was popular these days, she hadn't really bothered to join any competitions to get recognition before. Not that she needed it anyway. She started her business out of passion and because she wanted to prove to her family that she didn't need her inheritance to get a bright future. She was perfectly fine working on her own and she needed them to respect that.
However, that didn't an she hadn't received invitations for her participation. If Tang Moyu hadn't ntioned it, she would have forgotten about it already. With her busy schedule working on Lu Tianxin's wedding dress, she barely had ti to work on her entry.
"Moyu, are you sure?" She asked her best friend warily. Although she believed in Tang Moyu's insight, she wasn't used to competing with other people. If she could, she would rather work quietly and spend her energy on her designs.
"I am sure." The empress affird. "Are you hesitating again? Don't forget, it was harder for you when you were just starting. A little obstacle in your way wouldn't derail you, right?"
Li ili bit her lip. What her best friend said was right. Tang Moyu always knew what to say to calm her nerves. Even now, the empress was the first one who believed in her capabilities when no one did.
"I see, then it sounds like a plan to . I have no problems working with Elaine. As for Liu Ruoyan, she should enjoy sitting on her high horse while it lasts because she will be toppling down soon." She agreed. She couldn't wait to see the results later.
By now, Tang Moyu would have had a plan for them to follow. Li ili was surely lucky to have a friend who was willing to extend an olive branch for this little nightingale to rely on. More than the profit and fa, she was looking forward to seeing how it would end for Liu Ruoyan and Elaine Wu.
"Good. I'll inform Elaine at once then. I'll ask Cheng Ning to coordinate with your assistant soon." Tang Moyu closed the tabs on her laptop and resud working on the doc.u.nt she was working on earlier, before her little buns disturbed her.
Initially, she wasn't bothered about Liu Ruoyan or any other won her husband had been with in the past. She knew she wouldn't be able to change anything or to bla Feng Tianyi, but it didn't an she would do nothing when soone threatened to harm their marriage and her children.
"If that's all, I'm going back to sleep. Good night, Moyu." Li ili yawned. She could feel her sleepiness returning to her at full force. Unlike Tang Moyu who could survive with a few hours of sleep at night, Li ili wasn't a night owl.
"Good night." Tang Moyu said before hanging up on the phone, aware that Li ili would fall asleep as soon as she ended their phone call.
She pinched the bridge of her nose before replacing her spectacles back on her face. The sooner she would be able to finish her task here, the sooner she would be able to go back ho.
While her family and Li ili were peacefully sleeping, back in Shenzhen, she needed to finish so work before she could follow them to the land of slumber. She suddenly felt that the remaining four days seed too long. She couldn't wait to return ho and be with her family.
