"So what is it that you want to talk about, Tianyi? Hurry, Baobao and Little Star are already awake and I want to join them for breakfast." Song Huifen said when her son stepped inside her study like he said he would an hour ago.
"You're going to have breakfast again. Wow! I didn't know that you have such a big appetite, Mother." Feng Tianyi said as he took a seat across his mother's desk and held his cane with both hands, his eyes looking at his mother with curiosity.
"Mind telling what's going on, Mother?" He confronted her.
Song Huifen arched a brow at him as she clasped her hands together, leaning her back on her seat lazily.
"You know…" She said with suspicion, her eyes narrowing on her son.
"Yes, I do." He paused. "You were right, Mother. Baobao and Little Star are mine."
The woman's lips twitched in amus.e.m.e.nt.
"I told you, didn't I? I was right all along." She smiled with pride.
It was impossible for Xiao Bao not to be her son's, considering how much the boy resembled Feng Tianyi when he was younger, and Song Huifen's instincts were telling her that she needed to find out the truth about the Tang twins.
"So how did you know?" Feng Tianyi asked his mother. "How did you find out? I ran a background check on Moyu but wasn't able to pick up the clues along the way."
Song Huifen chuckled and crossed her legs.
"Tianyi, Tang Feiyu's face is a dead giveaway. You should check your photos when you were younger. The resemblance between two of you is uncanny." She smiled. "Anyway, I was able to get Baobao's blood sample when he got involved in that accident at the pond. Blood test is the best way to know if you two are related. The rest is history."
"And you didn't bother telling any of this because...?" Feng Tianyi wasn't pleased that his mother had hid sothing as important as this from him. He should have known sooner. He could have done more if he knew that the twins were his.
"Moyu and you have just started dating. I know how your gears work, Tianyi. You would want to tie the knot with her as soon as you found out about it." Song Huifen gave her son a mocking look. He avoided eting her gaze and cleared his throat. "Am I right?"
"Moyu has suffered enough. All these years she raised our children on her own…" Feng Tianyi was so easy to read by his own mother.
"I know, Tianyi. I know. But I don't think the two of you are ready for that yet. I would hate to see you two compromise and force yourself to be together just because you have children together. Being married isn't like that, Tianyi. You know that it isn't enough to keep the two of you together." His mother explained, the smile on her face vanished and was replaced with a serious expression.
"You don't need to commit the sa mistake as I did, Tianyi." She added.
"I understand, Mother. I wouldn't force Moyu into sothing she doesn't want." He promised her. He wanted the empress to be perfectly sure of her choice, wanted her completely and without any doubts regarding their union.
Perceptions tend to change with life events like marriage. What they have now was surely different once they got married. It's only natural for his mother to be worried about him and Tang Moyu, but he hadn't expected that she would be this supportive of him dating the fallen empress.
"So mother, you really don't care if I date or marry, Moyu?" He asked, wanting to know why his mother wasn't disapproving of Tang Moyu, considering she was once Feng Tianhua's fiancee.
The playful smile that blood on Song Huifen's face made Feng Tianyi regret questioning her. He should have known better than to ask about his mother's motives.
"She's interesting." Song Huifen said. "And she can put you in place. What else could I ask for in a daughter-in-law?"
"Mother!" Feng Tianyi g.r.o.a.n.e.d. No wonder his mother approved of Tang Moyu. She certainly could ask for Moyu's help to influence him. How would he be able to deny his mother in the future if she had Tang Moyu on her side?
Song Huifen laughed at her son's annoyed expression. He shouldn't have asked her if he already knew the answer to his question. Anyway, this was the first ti she'd seen her son totally whipped by a woman. She used to think that her son wouldn't be able to find a woman that can match him. How wrong she was to assu.
"Moyu told that she had already set up a trust fund for Baobao and Little Star." Feng Tianyi inford his mother.
"How much?" The old woman asked. She didn't mind chiming in more money if that ant they would be able to secure the little buns future.
"Twenty billion…" Feng Tianyi's words trailed off.
"Wow! She was able to raise that much?" Song Huifen didn't bother to hide her surprise.
"In US dollars, Mother. Can you believe that?" The devil sighed. "My twins are practically swimming in money, way before they even reach legal age."
Song Huifen laughed. It made sense why the empress didn't have many properties under her na. She probably set up most of her fortune for the twins. Considering that the two also had the golden blood, it wouldn't be easy for Tang Moyu to get the blood the twins needed in case of ergency.
She understood this because she had also spent a fortune on her son's surgeries and treatnts five years ago. Song Huifen almost lost her son during those hellish tis. No way would she allow the sa thing to happen to Baobao and Little Star.
"Mother, if you are okay with it. I want the twins to join the Song family instead."
