Jack walked out into the street with a giant satisfied smile on his face.
He did not reveal the Level 3s because he did not want to dissuade them.
In fact, he wanted to persuade them to co earlier than the rest of the people. Perhaps even have them leave now, but he knew better than that.
If he pushed too hard, his forr teammates, especially the leader, would beco suspicious and he did not want that.
He hated them but he hated Talia even more for her disregard.
At least his forr teammates still saw him as a threat, even though their leader was a Level 2.
Talia on the other hand could not even be bothered to rember him or realize what he might do for revenge. It showed him just how little she thought of him.
And he hated it.
Even though he knew better, he still hoped his teammates would confirm the information quickly and rush to the camp.
The Level 3s would most definitely be waiting for them but he knew better than to push it.
He could not eat his cake and have it too after all the main reason he was even in this position was because he had tried to do exactly that.
He wandered around as he pondered for a few minutes because he still hadn’t decided the best way to spread the information.
He considered selling it to several criminal groups to make a killing but that might not go well for him if any of them found out he gave sa information to their opponents.
Not to ntion they might keep it secret so they could benefit the most from it. Sothing he did not want to happen.
He wanted as much chaos as possible which required as many people and unknown variables as possible.
He also considered paying a few people to spread it for him so he could hide his identity but the sa issue appeared.
If they realized just how valuable the information was they might simply sell it to the highest bidder.
In the end, he settled on simply spreading it himself.
That would definitely expose him to so repercussions but to him it was far better.
He slowly made his way toward the darker part of town. He made a stop along the way and eventually reached his destination a little after noon.
The place was slightly rundown, but it was not what you would call the slums... Quite similar to where Jensen used to live.
He walked up to an unassuming house and glanced around to make sure he was not followed.
Then he knocked on the door in a pattern.
*Knock*
Pause.
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
Pause.
*Knock*
Pause.
Silence fell for a few minutes, but Jack did not panic. He waited patiently, knowing they were most likely scanning for threats that might have followed him.
Finally, a small slit opened. An eye popped up and scanned him briefly, then the door swung wide open.
"Jackal... it has been a while." A gruff voice said as he stepped in. "I knew your foolishness made you broke again Bahahahaha!"
Jack looked at the buff man staring down at him. "And that is the reason the only thing you do here is guard doors."
"You!" The man, who looked like he had creatine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, shouted infurated.
His hands reached for Jack’s head and Jack imdiately backed away to the left.
Although he was antagonizing and insulting the man, he knew it would not end well for him if the man’s hands touched him.
Soone left to guard the gate to one of the most vicious criminal dens would not be weak.
Even though he dodged the first attack, Jack did not delude himself into thinking he could win.
He imdiately shouted, "Bastard, rember the rules! Or you will die right after ."
Almost instantly, the buff man’s punch stopped just a few centiters from his face. The wind from the punch smashed into his face, causing his eyes to water.
’Damn it, this bastard really tried to kill you’ Jack thought as anger flashed in his eyes, but he did not dare do anything.
He knew better than that.
The buff man was strong, but that was not the only reason he had not been killed for the drugs he had on him.
If his strength was the only reason, such vicious criminals would have found so many ways to kill him but none of them did.
After all, a smart criminal knows to avoid the snake pit.
The buff man simply grunted at him before turning away and walking toward a stool by the door.
Jack gave him a final glance before walking away as well.
He looked around... Everything and anything was happening here.
Although it was afternoon, many people were busy drinking and smoking.
It was quite obvious that they were just beginning their day.
Most criminals’ days were inverted... At night, they carried out their jobs then they slept imdiately after through the morning and finally, they woke up in the afternoon to begin their day.
It was during this afternoon period that most things happened. Trading, swapping, finding marks and trading information making it more packed than at night.
Jack made his way through the complex labyrinth of interconnected basents with familiarity until he finally made it to a bar he knew well.
It was a nice bar for catering to Level 1s and although the place was underground with no windows, it was well lit with mana lamps while ventilation was handled by rune formations.
He shook hands with a few people he knew before making his way to the bar stool.
"It has been a while, Jackal... Hope you are doing well?" The beautiful bartender smiled at him.
"Ah, Cass, you too... I have been very busy." Jack smiled as he pulled out a pouch and casually pulled out one of the two mana stones inside.
He dropped the stone on the table with a wide smile and looked up at Cass as he took a seat at the bar.
"Keep it coming."
"Oh, what are we celebrating~?" Cass raised her eyes in a seductive manner as she looked at the mana stone in front of her. "What job could you have done in these few days to make enough to blow a mana stone on drinks?~"
"Hahahahahaha! I got a good job and made a killing." Jack laughed loudly.
The mont he said those words, he could almost feel the ears of everyone nearby perk up.
"In fact," Jack jumped up and turned around, shouting, "Drinks are on !"
He picked up the pouch and dumped the rest of its contents on the table in front of Cass letting the last mana stone drop down.
The bar erupted in cheers.
"Hurrrrrrrrray!"
He threw the pouch to the side, grabbed the first drink Cass prepared, and downed it in one go before raising his glass.
"HUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRAAAAY!"
The cheers grew louder but Jack could feel the disappointnt in the air the mont they realized that the pouch was empty.
He could tell the rest of the clientele were scanning his body for any visible bulge where he might be hiding the rest of his wealth.
They were all t with disappointnt... Although they hoped, they still knew there was a high chance that nothing was there.
After all no self-respecting criminal would co to this type of place with their wealth and get drunk.
That would make you a free-for-all target.
Still, so did not give up.
One man walked up to him and gave him a bear hug.
"Brother, congratulations!" The man laughed loudly as he shook Jack around.
Although Jack could tell he was frisking him, he did not stop him. For him it was best to just let it happen and get it out of the way.
"What job was that? Maybe we have heard of it?" The man asked as he released Jack with a slightly disappointed look.
"Hahahaha!"
"Unfortunately, I cannot tell you, brother... The job is still ongoing, and there is more to be made." Jack laughed.
Almost instantly, the mood in the bar brightened but no one asked him any questions yet.
After a few back and forth the man backed off and another man ca to hug him again.
The sa snooping took place, but Jack still did not stop him and it did not stop there... a few more ca to try their luck but they all found nothing.
So they moved to Plan B.
So of the n secretly slipped Cass a few gold slips and simply said a word.
"Hard."
Cass smiled sweetly and subtly began increasing the alcohol content in Jack’s drink.
Although she was getting paid for it, she also wanted to know... Her job here was not just to serve drinks but also to gather information.
Once Jack was well buttered, another person walked closer.
He grabbed a beer and raised it at the half-wasted Jack for a toast.
"Brother... tell us your story... Let us hear of your greatness so your legend may spread."
"YESSS!"
"YESSS!!"
"YESSS!!!"
Half drunk, Jack imdiately began spilling everything he knew about the Morvath base however he still had enough sanity not to tell them about the Level 3s... Instead, he just called them the scary guards.
And before long, he was drawing maps.
Eventually, he was so drunk that he could not draw anymore. He could only slur, telling them to follow the others or the truck tracks tomorrow morning.
Once they were certain they had squeezed him for everything, the drinks finally stopped.
Eventually he slowly stumbled out of the den and made his way ho.
Just as he turned a corner, soone appeared behind him and before he could even react, they slamd their hand against the back of his neck, knocking him out.
His last thought was, ’Damn you motherfuckers, haven’t you touched enough?’
