Book 6: Chapter 59: Persuade

“Join your side…? What does that even an?” Lilith stared at Li Desheng blankly, her mind too overwheld to keep up.

“There’s nothing complicated about it. I’m asking you to join us, the Thoughtless Heaven,” he replied calmly.

“Why would I join Thoughtless Heaven?” Lilith asked, her voice tense with suspicion. “I don’t know anything about you people.” She wasn’t about to trust anyone—not anymore.

Li Desheng didn’t look offended. In fact, he seed to have expected it.

“You’re right. You know nothing about us, and I never assud you’d trust us easily,” he admitted. “But… You don’t have anywhere else to go, do you? So why not give us a chance?”

“Ridiculous!” Lilith snapped. “Who said I have nowhere to go? I—” She froze mid-sentence. Her gaze fell to her hands, then shifted to the space around her…

She had wanted to retort defiantly to prove him wrong, but the words caught in her throat. She couldn’t make any retorts… because it was true. She had nowhere else to go.

This place was no longer her ho.

Li Desheng sighed for what felt like the hundredth ti that day. “In that case, maybe I should sweeten the offer a little.” He raised a hand, and an ancient scroll appeared in his palm. The aura that radiated from it was so powerful that Lilith instinctively held her breath.

“This is a Heavenly Order Oath Scroll, one personally signed by the Thoughtless Deity Lord. In simpler terms, this scroll bears a divine oath in the na of both our Deity Lord and the Heavenly Order itself,” he began.

“It ans that the terms written here are binding. Once you accept them, we of Thoughtless Heaven are obligated to uphold our end. If we break that vow… even the Deity Lord would suffer catastrophic backlash from the Heavenly Order.”

He unrolled the scroll slowly, carefully. The golden characters lifted from its surface, glowing softly as it hovered in the air before Lilith.

She didn’t recognize the script. But sohow… she could understand it perfectly.

*The Thoughtless Heaven makes the following promises to Miss Lilith:*

*1. To separate Miss Lilith from the Dragon Eater by all ans.*

*2. The Thoughtless Deity Lord will accept Miss Lilith as a disciple.*

*Condition for fulfillnt: Miss Lilith must join the Thoughtless Heaven.*

“Although there are only two promises, but honestly, it’s more than generous,” Li Desheng said, sounding almost envious.

“Becoming the disciple of the Thoughtless Deity Lord… That’s the kind of blessing that makes countless geniuses of the Great World weep tears of blood. After all, the Deity Lord rarely accepts disciples—there are only three to date. But every single one has beco a legend.”

Lilith remained silent, her eyes fixed on the glowing golden script.

Seeing she didn’t respond, Li Desheng continued enthusiastically, trying to help her grasp the generosity of the offer.

“Not only that, the status of being the Deity Lord’s disciple is so high it’s absurd. The current head of Thoughtless Heaven is the Thoughtless Deity Lord’s grand-disciple. If you’re willing to join us, you’ll beco the leader’s martial aunt! Thoughtless Heaven would beco your personal fortress. It’s a far more prestigious status than being a princess!”

“No, that’s not what I care about,” Lilith interrupted softly.

She pointed to the first line of the scroll. “What bothers is this: you say you’ll separate from the Dragon Eater… but why?”

She looked Li Desheng straight in the eyes and asked, “And what are you planning to do with her?”

“What do you an by why?” he echoed, caught off guard. “You an you don’t want to be separated from sothing that dangerous?”

“Right now, I don’t see how she’s dangerous at all.” Lilith raised her hand. A black fla danced around her like a playful sprite, brushing past her skin and leaving nothing more than a cool tingle.

It was a strange sensation, almost pleasant, even.

“That’s because you’ve been deceived!” Li Desheng said firmly. “I’m sure you know how terrifying the Dragon Eater is. Do you really believe she’d let herself be sealed inside you without so sinister motive?”

“You’re right, she didn’t exactly agree to it,” Lilith said, recalling the annoyed look on the Dragon Eater’s face. “But… it’s not like she can escape either.”

“But what if she does? What then? Do you realize what would happen? It wouldn’t just be one or two worlds destroyed—it would threaten the entire Great World!” Li Desheng shot back.

“Can you guarantee she’ll never break free?” he asked.

Lilith frowned. “And you can guarantee you’ll be able to control her?”

“Who said anything about controlling her? We intend to destroy her!” he replied coldly.

“Destroy…?”

“That’s right. Destroy.” Li Desheng’s tone sharpened. His face was suddenly lit with fervor as he declared, “We will annihilate the Dragon Eater—just like we did nine million years ago! We’ll skin her, crush her bones, burn her blood dry, and grind her soul to dust! That’s our vow, in honor of the countless lives lost to her nine million years ago!”

“…It’s been nine million years, and you still carry that much hatred toward the Dragon Eaters?”

“Nine million years is indeed a long ti,” he admitted, “but Miss Lilith… there are still many elders from that war who live to this day. And as long as they breathe, we are never allowed to forget! They taught us what she did and made sure we rembered.”

He looked at her solemnly. “So to answer your question, I think I’ve made that very clear what we’ll do with the Dragon Eater.”

Lilith fell silent once again.

“You’re still hesitating? This is the kind of offer no one in their right mind would refuse.” Li Desheng leaned in, his usually dead-fish-like eyes filled with earnest intensity.

“Miss Lilith, just sign the scroll, and you can leave everything behind. Your past, those liars, and the danger locked within you. Isn’t that great? Or is that not enough yet? If you want more, just say it—I have the power to grant anything within reason on behalf of Thoughtless Heaven.”

Lilith stayed quiet for a long ti.

Finally, she said, “…The offer is generous. But I…”

“But what!?”

Li Desheng suddenly grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her, forgetting entirely about the black fla for a mont.

“Are you still holding onto so fantasy about that power-obsessed woman who’s been lying to you all this ti? Don’t be naive, Lilith! She used you! Isn’t it obvious? She put the Dragon Eater in her ‘beloved’ daughter’s body—what more proof do you need?”

“Open your eyes, Lilith. That woman… the Dragon Queen… she’s not soone you should be looking up to anymore!”
