Ch.189 I’m finally saying what I’ve kept inside

Selena stood beside , staring at the monitor.

“How… how is the picture inside the fra moving?”

“This isn’t a painting—it’s a monitor. Hmm…”

Explaining a monitor to her wasn’t easy.

Describing modern civilization to soone from another world was difficult.

“Monitor?”

Selena reached out and touched the screen.

“It feels like glass?”

“Yeah, probably glass. But… wanna drink sothing?”

“Huh?”

I left her confused and rushed to the fridge. Inside—there was cola.

I’d always loved cola. It was the only beverage I ever made sure never ran out.

“What’s that?”

Her eyes sparkled with curiosity as she stared into the fridge.

When she cautiously opened the door, she gasped.

“This? It’s cold?”

“That’s a fridge. It preserves food.”

She tapped the fridge’s outer wall.

“What’s this made of?”

I shrugged.

“Probably plastic?”

“Plastic? What’s that?”

There were too many things I’d need to explain.

“It’s a substance extracted from crude oil—a black liquid. The core of modern industry.”

I didn’t know the details—but I’d heard plastic played a vital role in industry.

“Fascinating? It’s neither wood nor tal… nor even flesh… and yet it’s cold? Is that magic?”

“No. It’s electricity.”

I held out the cola.

She eyed it suspiciously.

“Is this… drinkable?”

“Of course.”

She sniffed the fizzing cola.

“Soda water?”

“Much tastier.”

She took a cautious sip—and froze.

“It’s delicious.”

“Right? Do you think I’d give you sothing bad?”

I sat back down at the computer and resud playing Davinus.

Selena dragged a chair over and stared at the screen.

“Wait… where’s this?”

“You recognize it?”

She nodded.

“That’s Brother Davinus’s mansion. How…?”

She grew flustered as she recognized other Church of Death characters.

“Alex? Dante?”

Key allies in Davinus’s story.

The Church of Death storyline began in earnest.

Davinus obtained the sealed orb containing the King of the Dead.

He allowed Roy to inhabit his body—but unlike reality, Davinus retained his self.

Unlike reality, heroes rose to oppose him.

“But… wasn’t the Papacy always this strong?”

Davinus wielded Roy’s power—but holy knights still fought desperately to stop him.

Yet in this ga, Cecilia was already dead.

—We will shatter this world of despair and forge a new one! A world without hunger, without war, filled with eternal peace!

Selena flinched as she heard Davinus’s in-ga declaration.

Soon, Davinus clashed with Scarlet.

I casually manipulated the controls—defeated her effortlessly.

“Hero…”

“Yeah. In this ga, you can play as Scarlet too.”

One by one, I shattered the Seal Stones.

The Papacy fought desperately—but without a Saint, their holy knights were powerless against Roy’s undead legions.

Breaking the stones beca easy.

“Alright. This is the fifth Seal Stone. Break this, and the ending begins.”

“Ending…?”

I replied as I continued playing.

“The conclusion. The fate given to a hero who reaches their goal. Think of it like the ending of a novel.”

The Papacy sent knights, mages, and warriors—Mia, Leah, everyone.

But none could stop Davinus.

My skill helped—but more importantly, I’d gathered Davinus’s final gear quickly.

As he placed his hand on the fifth Seal Stone…

Davinus’s ending began.

***

After the Demon King fell, the Hero Party moved Hans and Selena to safety.

They feared a demon attack.

“Where are we going?”

Edward, using Fly, carried everyone through the air.

“I… I’ve only been to Hell a few tis…”

Scarlet sighed.

“Ugh… is there anywhere we can hide? This place is completely open.”

Hell was an endless plain.

Lava flowed like cracks in the earth.

Rocks jutted up sporadically.

Mia pointed.

“What about hiding behind those rocks?”

A field littered with large boulders—perfect for concealnt.

“Sounds good.”

They set up camp—blankets, cooking gear, everything.

They lay down on the blankets.

“Haa… my heart’s still racing…”

Cecilia had felt her blood freeze when facing the Demon King.

But thanks to Edward rembering Equalizer and killing him, she now felt safe.

Even if he returned, they could fight again.

But Scarlet and Mia looked at Cecilia differently.

Cecilia smiled brightly.

“Now the Demon King isn’t so scary. We have Equality!”

Scarlet and Mia stared at her in silence.

“No matter how divine the power, it’s not omnipotent. Last ti, against Roy’s army, Equality was useless.”

“Right. No matter how strong Equality is, it’s powerless against overwhelming numbers.”

Even with infinite ammo, firing speed had limits.

“But… the Demon King was alone.”

“If his army cos, maybe Equality can wipe them all out.”

Mia’s sarcastic tone made Cecilia’s face fall.

She rembered when the last Seal Stone broke—and agreed with Mia.

“Since we got caught off guard this ti, he won’t co alone next ti. He can’t die, after all.”

Mia turned to her.

“So rest. We don’t know how long this peace will last.”

Cecilia’s voice sounded weary.

“Saint, stay strong.”

Edward, pitying her, tried to comfort her.

She scowled.

“Why is an undead trying to comfort ?”

“Uh…”

Edward scratched his head awkwardly.

She turned her body away.

“Hmph!”

‘When will Hans co back?’

Today, more than ever, she longed to hear his voice.

***

Selena had watched Davinus’s entire ending.

At first, when the God of Death appeared and covered the world in death, her eyes had sparkled with wonder.

But…

When humans, lifeless and hollow, only bowed in worship to the God of Death…

She sensed sothing wrong.

Finally, Davinus asked the God of Death—and was ntally destroyed.

Selena’s once-shining eyes lost focus.

After long silence, she spoke, voice strained:

“Is… is this really true?”

“It’s likely. But this ga isn’t a perfect replica of your world.”

If it were, Selena herself wouldn’t be absent from the ga.

Her unique traits—especially her regression—would’ve been impossible to implent.

Perhaps her existence was the core of the world’s destruction.

If she sided with the God of Death, annihilation was certain.

Even with divine artifacts, countering regression was nearly impossible.

Still… you’re not that surprised?

Her reaction was unnervingly calm.

She’d been fiery and emotional when confronting the God of Death in her mind.

I asked, puzzled:

“Why aren’t you more shocked? I expected you to rage like before.”

She shook her head.

“I just want to hear your story. You’re not evil.”

Her voice trailed off.

“Besides… there are strange circumstances.”

I asked:

“Strange circumstances?”

She nodded firmly.

“Yes. Why was my hotown raided?”

“Ah…”

It was odd.

Before the Demon King appeared, the only major nation was the Empire.

I knew this well—I’d fallen here before the Demon King’s rise.

The Empire was a powerful, prosperous realm.

Farming thrived. Law and order were strong.

So why did bandits suddenly appear in massive numbers?

Bandits were usually desperate people driven to cri by poverty.

If they raided villages, local lords would send punitive forces.

And untrained farrs with crude weapons couldn’t defeat professional soldiers.

Massive bandit groups would be crushed instantly.

“The strangest part was magic. A mage who could cast Fireball… wouldn’t join bandits.”

She was right.

Leah used Fireball freely—but here, Fireball was classified as a high-tier spell.

In-ga, it was common.

Here, it could kill dozens at once.

A mage capable of casting it was a top-tier expert.

Why would such a skilled mage join bandits?

They could earn wealth legally.

“Then… did the Church of Death target you?”

“Could… could I even be in this ga?”

I shook my head.

“No. You’re not in it. I don’t even understand why you’re missing.”

It was a sign the ga wasn’t perfect—but now, I needed honesty.

If I lied and couldn’t show her proof, I’d lose her trust.

“Hmm… so I’m not in it? Why?”

I offered my thought:

“Because your infinite regression is too broken?”

“Huh?”

I pointed at the screen.

“Gas are made for people to enjoy. If you were the final boss—with your regression—no one could win.”

They’d just reset endlessly.

She thought deeply.

Then asked:

“So… this is called a ga? Who made it?”

“I don’t know. Usually, ga companies make gas to make money.”

“To make money?”

“Yeah. I think… ga developers…”

I finally said what I’d kept inside.
