Ch.188 I’ll show you what happens when the God of Death awakens. Just wait two hours. I’ll show you.

Cardinal Davinus was a tragic anti-hero.

In Destiny, every character had multiple happy endings.

Giovanni married his beloved Elise after becoming a famous knight.

Nekhuf beca a legendary adventurer, revered by all.

Every character had their own happy ending—sotis several.

But Davinus?

The only character without a happy ending.

And maybe that was inevitable.

A hero who sacrifices everything—for the salvation of the world, for a paradise for all.

His path was paved with thorns.

He evaded the Pope’s hunters.

He resurrected the King of the Dead—giving his own body as a vessel.

And in-ga? All he gained was stats and undead skills.

A balance patch, really.

A difficult character to play—but easy to complete.

And his ending?

The destruction of the world.

His own annihilation.

He’d been deceived by the god he believed in.

He’d resurrected the God of Death, believing he’d grant eternal peace.

But when he faced his ‘paradise,’ he realized—he’d been lied to.

The paradise he imagined?

A traditional heaven.

But the God of Death’s paradise?

A herd of livestock—souls stripped of will, endlessly generating divine power.

Davinus scread.

And in that scream, his self dissolved.

The character without a happy ending.

Believed he was saving humanity.

In truth, he was the one who led them to ruin.

His soul, stripped of identity, was sentenced to eternal worship of the god who deceived him.

Perhaps that’s why…

Players who witnessed his ending felt so… hollow.

Here, the one who died was Icira—not Davinus.

So he wouldn’t suffer that tornt.

But soone else would face that ending.

“Selena… I want to show you the world I ca from.”

“The world you lived in?”

Before him stood the black-haired beauty.

She might soon experience Davinus’s horrific fate.

He had to stop it…

He didn’t think her insane.

Nor did he see her as pure evil.

She was bright. Cheerful. Like any girl her age.

She wasn’t evil—she was deceived.

Maybe… maybe he was softer on her because she was beautiful.

He didn’t love her.

But he didn’t want her path to be despair.

“Yes. My world. Don’t you wonder how I know the future… or the gods’ power?”

Selena stared blankly.

“You… ca from another world?”

Her reaction felt… off.

Logically, anyone hearing this would think the speaker was insane.

“Do you… already know?”

She nodded slightly.

“Yes. You told

once.”

“Huh?”

He’d told her? When?

He swore he’d never told her he was from another world.

Then—his mind flashed.

“Wait… regression?”

He looked at her.

She nodded sadly.

“Yes. I once told you I served the Church of Death.”

“And still… this happened? When? When did I say that?”

She struggled to speak.

“On the ship… to the Old Continent. Right before we obtained the Trident of the Sea God.”

“Huh?”

He recalled the mory.

There’d been a different version of Selena then—

fake, calculating.

He couldn’t pinpoint when it started…

“At that ti… I tried to convert you. But I failed.”

That was it.

That’s why she’d tried to steal the Trident and kill the captain.

He’d naively told her the truth.

And she’d used regression—returning to the past—as if nothing had happened.

To deceive him.

…This was terrifying.

Now he understood why fanatics were dangerous.

But now… what?

If he’d told her he was from another world…

he’d revealed his deepest secret.

“Can I… see the world you lived in?”

“Huh?”

She smiled sweetly.

“You’re giving

permission?”

“No! Wait—!”

Suddenly—a brilliant light erupted between them.

A handso man sat on a throne.

The Demon King, reviewing reports from his subordinates, looked bored.

“Hmm… the Hero Party’s mage escaped through the Hell Gate?”

“Yes, my lord. Only two of them.”

The Demon King smirked.

“True. Even if that mage has the Gift, it’s only one person.”

He was certain—the mont the Hell Gate opened, the tide had turned.

Human strength couldn’t withstand the full might of demons.

The power of a true demon—unshackled by dinsional restrictions—was beyond human endurance.

“They’re probably crawling to the Emperor for help. Ignore them. Focus on gathering the legions.”

“Yes, my lord.”

As the demon withdrew, the Demon King fell into thought.

The only irritants: the Adversary and the Hero Party.

‘Why are the others still idle?’

He’d expected them to return to the human world and prepare for war after defeating the King of the Dead.

***

But the report he received was simple:

‘The red-haired mage and the blind elf had escaped.’

“Hmm… maybe I should go take a look.”

Curious about what the Adversary and Hero Party were doing, the Demon King rose from his throne.

In an instant—

The scenery shifted.

No longer the dark, gloomy castle.

Now—vast, barren land.

He arrived at the battlefield where he’d fought the King of the Dead.

His gaze first fell on the Hero Party’s campsite.

Then—

The Adversary and the King of the Dead, lying as if asleep.

“Hoh?”

Intrigued, the Demon King moved toward them.

—Shing!

Scarlet lunged, dagger raised—

she’d sensed him.

But he drew his black blade and blocked effortlessly.

“What are you all doing here?”

“Demon King!”

Leah and Cecilia sprang to their feet, ready for battle.

“Hiiik!”

But Edward the Lich scread in terror.

“Are you all having a picnic?”

The Demon King mocked them as they all tensed.

“The mage and the blind elf are gone, aren’t they?”

With Nekhuf blocking him and Leah restraining him from behind, he saw his chance.

He’d end this now.

‘I don’t know what’s happening—but I’ll capture those two.’

And maybe… grab Equality too.

“Eek!”

Scarlet charged.

Their blades clashed repeatedly.

“Ugh, annoying.”

He blocked her fierce strikes and swung his blade hard.

She crossed her arms—blocking his sword.

—Chiiing!

The mournful cry of her ‘Dagger of Sorrow’.

As they locked blades, the Demon King’s body swelled—

his true form erging.

—Khhahaha! Can you truly stand against my power alone?!

Mia drew her bow and fired.

—Kraak!

The arrow pierced his flesh—but barely penetrated. No real damage.

—Vermin! Do you think you can defeat ?!

The roar shook the Hero Party’s skulls.

“Khh…!”

Scarlet staggered back, shielding Hans and Selena—then wobbled.

—I’ll show you what true Hell is!

Mia realized—she had no choice.

She could now channel more mana than ever before.

She knew she couldn’t summon the Spirit King for long.

Could she hold off the Demon King? Uncertain.

But she had to try.

“I’ll summon the Spirit King. Scarlet—take Hans and Selena and run!”

—Hahaha! Do you think I’ll let you escape?!

The Demon King laughed triumphantly—

—Bang!

A gunshot echoed.

“M-My Lord… I’m sorry…”

Edward held Equality, aid directly at the Demon King.

—Thud.

The Demon King t his second death.

“Huh? This is Hans’s house?”

As the flash faded…

It was his apartnt.

A tiny 10-square ter office-tel.

His bed. His desk. His familiar yet alien computer.

“Wait… can you see my mories?”

She grinned.

“I just tried it—and it worked.”

“What?”

She sat on his bed, stretching.

“This is my dream, isn’t it? Here, I’m the god.”

“But these are my mories.”

She smirked, pointing at him.

“You gave

permission.”

“Does that an you can read my mories?”

“Not before. But now? Yes.”

She’d tried before.

He thought of her—

a woman who treated privacy like yesterday’s rice.

Even Cecilia, with her sweet naivety, was more cunning than he realized.

Were all religious people like this?

Selena wasn’t a priestess—but she was a fanatic.

“But this place is way too small.”

She looked around, fascinated.

“So many strange things… you really ca from another world?”

“Yes. This is my original world. Oh—right. I have sothing to show you.”

He sat in his chair and powered on the computer.

—Bzzzt…

The monitor flickered to life.

“What is this?”

She stared, astonished.

“Wow… the picture appeared?”

He pointed at the desktop.

“This is called a computer.”

How to explain?

An abacus evolved?

No—

Defining a computer was difficult.

“Just watch.”

He clicked the Destiny ga icon.

The familiar screen loaded.

He skillfully opened his save file and displayed his character.

“Who’s this?”

A dark-haired, sinister-looking man.

“That’s… Brother Davinus?”

“Yes. Davinus.”

He manipulated the character.

“I’ll show you what happens when the God of Death awakens.

Just wait two hours. I’ll show you.”
