"President Bai, who is this?" The portly middle-aged man who was previously with Bai Hongguang on the second floor had already arrived at the living room on the first floor, smiling broadly as he looked at Bai Yiran.
Bai Hongguang suddenly rembered that there was an important guest at ho, and hurriedly introduced him, "Oh, Mr. Kang, this is my eldest daughter, Bai Yiran."
"Is that so?" Mr. Kang’s eyes, like those of an old fox, scrutinized Bai Yiran without hiding, "Why have I never seen her before?"
"Well... she is the daughter of my ex-wife, she doesn’t live with us." Bai Hongguang said awkwardly.
If she doesn’t live with you, does that an she’s not favored?
Mr. Kang rolled his eyes and said to Bai Hongguang, "Since you have a family matter to attend to, I won’t disturb you."
Upon hearing that Mr. Kang was about to leave, Bai Hongguang beca a bit anxious, "About the favor I asked of Mr. Kang..."
Mr. Kang was already standing next to Bai Yiran, her face eliciting an even broader smile from him, "Your eldest daughter is quite remarkable!"
After speaking, Mr. Kang walked towards the door, where the driver was already waiting.
Bai Hongguang was unclear about Mr. Kang’s intentions, but seeing that Mr. Kang was leaving, he quickly rushed out to see him off.
However, Gu Manli discerned the aning in Mr. Kang’s words and let her beautiful eyes linger on Bai Yiran.
After seeing Mr. Kang off, Bai Hongguang returned with a sullen face and imdiately reprimanded Bai Yiran, "Bai Yiran! What’s your problem? I had an important guest today, and you ca here to stir up trouble!"
"Dad! She didn’t stir up trouble; she was just giving a ride ho! It was my mom who misunderstood the situation and made a fuss; it’s not Bai Yiran’s fault!" Bai Qiantong quickly explained, now regretting that he had asked Bai Yiran to drive him ho. Originally, he just wanted more opportunities to spend ti with Bai Yiran. He never imagined it would cause so much trouble for her, now Bai Yiran would likely distance herself even more.
Hearing Bai Qiantong’s words, Bai Hongguang froze for a mont and then awkwardly looked at Bai Yiran.
However, Bai Yiran now felt indifferent, "Whatever, you can think whatever you like; it doesn’t matter much to anyway!"
With that said, Bai Yiran left the Bai Family expressionlessly.
Bai Qiantong wanted to chase after her, but Bai Yiran had already driven off.
Bai Hongguang looked toward Gu Manli and complained, "Look at the ss you’ve made; Mr. Kang likes red wine, and we happened to have a few good bottles at ho. I invited Mr. Kang over under the pretense of wine tasting, yet you didn’t help with the reception and created this trouble! Now, the company isn’t as good as it used to be; our connection with Leng Yichen has fallen through, and if Mr. Kang’s line also becos unavailable, we’ll be left with nothing!"
Faced with Bai Hongguang’s complaints, Gu Manli knew it had been her overreaction today and quickly tried to appease him, "Oh, don’t be angry, there’s still a way with Mr. Kang."
"What other way is there?"
Gu Manli smiled and winked at Bai Hongguang, "Your eldest daughter, Bai Yiran!"
"Yiran?"
Gu Manli sat on the sofa with a relaxed expression, "Didn’t you notice Mr. Kang’s gaze fixed on Bai Yiran earlier?"
Gu Manli’s big eyes were filled with cunning, a smile lingering at the corners of her lips.
Bai Yiran, the future of the Bai Family rests on you; don’t let us down!
Leng Yichen had an engagent that night, and by the ti he got ho, Bai Yiran was already asleep. Looking at her peacefully curled up on his bed, Leng Yichen felt an indescribable warmth fill his heart.
After taking a shower, fearing he might wake Bai Yiran, Leng Yichen gently lay down on the bed, but even so, Bai Yiran still moved slightly.
"Did I wake you?" Leng Yichen asked softly.
Bai Yiran shook her head, not speaking.
Leng Yichen reached out to hold her tight, his slightly stubbly chin lightly resting on the top of Bai Yiran’s head.
Perhaps it was Lou Jing’s words that affected her, or maybe the distress she experienced at the Bai Family impacted her, but Bai Yiran urgently sought warmth from Leng Yichen now.
"I have to go on a business trip tomorrow, leaving at dawn," Leng Yichen said softly.
Bai Yiran tightened her grip, "For how many days?"
"A week. Rest well, you don’t need to get up to see off."
Bai Yiran nodded and fell into a deep sleep in Leng Yichen’s arms.
The next day, when Bai Yiran woke up, Leng Yichen had already left, leaving her feeling sowhat disappointed.
After tidying up, Bai Yiran drove to work.
At this mont, Bai Yiran was nearing the brink of a breakdown. Early in the morning, Amy had Li Fei find and give Bai Yiran the details of all departntal reimbursent requests from the past five years, commanding her to compile a comprehensive electronic docunt integrating five years of data today. Bai Yiran was practically a novice at electronic spreadsheets, not to ntion integrating data using formulas. She could only muddle through while constantly asking Li Fei for help.
