Lind had hoped for days, but not even one passed before the barrier fell. It was just a cheap and effective thod of swarming. Eventually, sothing had to give!
It was actually the southern barriers, where the forr Glass Palace had once held sway. Whether that fate or simply a strong coincidence, it was a lucky break.
Thanks to the Bastard wiping out all life, it had barely recovered and discouraged anyone taking over. There was nothing worth hoarding there at all.
Lind had, however, laced it with his harmony to help restore the lost vitality. Thus, the worst case was avoided.
In fact, the insects beca fodder for the harmonic rich environnt. Still, it was but the beginning, The sun had yet to even move far past midday with 3 more breaches occurring in far less ideal places.
It was still only the insects, yet it quickly beca clear the swarms were like any other Fiend Art. Any living thing not protected by harmonic Qi, was left withered and drained.
It was odd that part as while it was normal, it was also not connected to any Fiend. The Bastard would not waste life like that.
Lind realized the Fiend army had new standing orders. The original Bastard just wanted victory. There were no do overs and all life would fall into his maw if the Divine Lands collapsed.
It was the absolute worst case scenario. Lind had never feared it because the Bastard needed imnse life force to ascend. He would not wantonly waste it without it being consud and stored inside any given Fiend.
The swarm attack, however, was wasted for that result. Without the connection, it was just mass death that only served to one day feed the original Bastard.
If the Fiend army ca at them that way, it would be a bloodfest with no winners but one at the end.
Lind could not be everywhere, yet he was not unprepared for the final battle. Once the Bastard had what he needed, it would turn into exactly what was happening now.
[My family, we must not hold back. We must give it our all, now.] The Frey Clan core was with him. The Divine Realm cultivators would not hold back at all. It was going to be devastating but they could not hold back at all.
Similar commands went out to tall the Master and Journeyman Tiers. The Apprentice Tiers would operate any arrays up and running directly.
It would be hodge podge unlike they had hoped. The real question was how long the swarm could be sustained.
Lind downed elixirs and pills both to recover quickly and enhance his speed. Space was torn open before he dove in. The world beca a blur until he shot upward like a rocket. He pierced the cloud cover before tearing space again.
The restrictions were far lesser on him up there but there was one more advantage. His aura shot outward in all directions far beyond any known range.
The artifacts in the clouds acted like amplifiers. His mind saw far beyond the borders of the continent. It went on and on before he finally saw them.
Black cylindrical flying artifacts he had not seen since he first arrived. They were so nurous they blotted out the sky.
They were all in the east but he saw they were spreading to the south as well.
[Sighting confird. Estimate we have months at best.] They were so much earlier than they had expected but the flying artifacts had to have co from the original Bastard. All that ti and multiple lives consud would give him knowledge.
Combined with the fusion of old lives into the current ones, the Fiends likely had access to abilities and skills thought long lost to the Divine Lands.
Lind tore through space once more and appeared far nearer the ground than anyone could expect. He erged into Hell.
A dark living cloud consud all life. It left nothing behind but husks and empty land. Worse than death, no vitality at all remained.
Wasted entirely for the pure purpose of weakening them only. They weren't even consud, just destroyed!
Lind raged but kept calm. His dragon's breath lashed outward turning the dark cloud into a bloom of erald flas. Even he had to back off as the intensity caught him off guard.
He narrowed his eyes until the communication jade lit up.
[Lind, sothing is very wrong. It is like the harmonic weapons are twice as effective!] Shoti, Qing, and all the rest reported the sa oddity. The sheer quantity might explain so sort of exponential increase in energy but he highly doubted it.
Fiend energy was consud and converted by his harmony. Others disrupted and dispersed it safely for the most part.
To have a sudden increase in effectiveness of all harmonic weapons made no sense. His, yes, had improved but only by a margin he understood.
He quickly looked around and saw another dark cloud coming in. Rather than attack, he examined the border of the barrier and the swarm.
His erald eyes narrowed but he could not see any reaction to the barrier energy. It was a normal reaction.
He then cast a single fire ball of pure harmonic Qi. The reaction was instantaneous. The swarm moved toward it!
Why would they do that? It had to be a command but why? What purpose would it serve? There was no connection to–
His eyes went wide as he shot skyward while incinerating the swarm behind him.
He reconfird the location of the artifact ships. His eyes narrowed as even more were heading south! They were using the reaction to show the breach locations!
[BE WARNED, THE SWARM IS DESIGNED TO CAUSE DRASTIC RESPONSES TO DRAW THE FIENDS TO THE BREACHED AREAS!]
His transmission was received but there was little they could do. The harmonic weapons were the only effective thod to use. Otherwise, the swarms would overwhelm even the Master Tier cultivators.
The battles beca giant signal fires that were being tracked sohow. The distance should have been too great but if the artifacts or so other artifact enhanced their aura like the ones he made, it was completely possible to see the blooms of reaction destroying the swarms caused.
It was an effective and unpreventable way to guide their forces to the breached barriers!
Lind realized things were going to get ugly if he did not do sothing very dangerous and drastic.
He transford into his dragon body. His massive form lit up as his mane blurred. Sigils were engraved faster than any eye could ever hope to follow. Lind felt his dantian drain faster than ever before.
Thankfully, he was not in need of sothing wide range, just tenacious.
Liquid harmonic Qi began to condense above him as his weaving solidified. Once it was done, the liquid erald harmonic Qi scattered into the sky.
He downed yet even more elixirs to buy so ti. In a few monts, black clouds ford but the lighting was erald in color, not blue or white.
Lind smiled. It was not a Storm Art, it was much worse. The pressure began to drop and the swarm seed to slow as if even the limited existence of the conjured creatures knew sothing bad was coming.
Most harmonic weapons and Arts used the power to burn Fiend Qi. Lind now drenched it!
The insect swarm squealed in pain but there was no reaction! They were not burning in flas, just carrying the harmonic Qi back as they fled from the storm!
Lind weakly landed on the dead ground. He had no strength left and elixirs would not get him back on his feet again. A few of the swarm stayed near him but did not dare touch him. Weak as he was, he was walking poison to the swarm.
[Go back to Hell!] The black cloud retreated and touched the next wave, and the one after, it spread the poison farther and farther but they were never allowed to die, just burn forever from the power fusing with their shells.
Rather than lt them, he made it a liquid that would adhere and burn slowly. The pain would make whatever commands were in the Fiend Art break down and reduce the insects to their natural counterparts.
As they flew back, it would finally reach the damned origin! The Fiends themselves!
????????
A ship at the heart of the fleet had 2 massive doors open where cloud after cloud of the Swarm of Defilent left. It was normally a rather crude and wasteful Art but one that could allow for a bad situation to be turned on its head.
The 2 male Fiends converting the Fiend Qi into the Art looked exhausted but the results had been confird by the long range detectors. The barrier and defenses had been breached!
The sections were confird and the Fiend commanders were happy. Among their number was the forr Great One. He no longer hid behind shadows so none recognized him.
Yet, he sneered internally. They thought such a simple ploy would work? He guided his artifact north. There were no breaches there yet but there would be.
As soon as he did so, he saw the dark cloud coming back. A smug smile tugged at his face.
"Good luck dealing with him. While you distract him, I will go for his heart. I will take everything away from him forever!" The Great One flew to safety as the swarm ship beca full of screams as the artifact corroded as did any ship touched by the frantic swarms.
The fleet did not stop. They were not fighting for survival. They only fought to obey the true Great One and bring glory to his final rise!
