Lind finished going through a series of combat stances and had no pain or weariness. It had taken a whole year for him to actually recover. He might have been faster had he not pushed himself when he awoke the first ti.
That exertion put him down for 7 months! Sun had beco a symbol in that ti. He was still the unrepentant wild man yet he was able to raise the spirit of the surviving army mbers.
Lind was grateful as the healing process was taking too long! The scouts had not even gone out until after he woke up the first ti!
All the reports he had read were from the battles and the retreat. There had been no updates since!
Thankfully, Sun seed to light a fire under them all while he was entertaining, he was a seasoned leader of nations.
It helped that his near sacrificial act had shown Heaven and Earth rewarded such efforts. It was sothing Master Tiers all the way down to Body Refining Realm cultivators would respect.
The reports were sowhat heartening.
The bridge was a barely held together set of black crystals. Energy was still leaking out of it and it was not repairing itself either! There were no signs of any Fiends at all but the intent seed to have lost the ability to continue either.
Stalemate. He found that odd. With the bridge fractured and broken, it should collapse but was as if the intent was damaged too?
No one understood what he had done. He investigated it, once he had permission to leave his room, to check it.
There was no issue he could feel at first but when he actually stood next to it, he realized sothing. It was flowing energy into him!
It was faint but due to being so close, he could sense it. The power was connected to him? Why?
He had thought Heaven and Earth took over his manipulation of the Intent Seed. Instead, it had been a bit crafty!
It had used his harmony as a natural defense! He felt no decrease in his power because it was like his other creations. Infused with his power but not supplied by it. Lind also realized why the front could not advance.
The battle had taken a toll on him more than he realized. He was dying.
Heaven and Earth had placed an unexpected protection on him but he frowned. The energy needed to save his life far exceeded anything he had planned the Intent to do. Where had it co from?
He checked the lifeforce in the Southern Continent yet it was thriving as ever. It felt much better to him actually. His frown only deepened as he realized he had no idea what was fueling the seed.
He had thought it was possible Heaven and Earth itself, yet that did not seem to be the case entirely. The flow of energies were as mysterious to him as ever.
Still, he bowed low before it.
"Thank you." There was no response but he truly did not expect one. All the stops were being pulled out indeed.
The rest of the reports were not as rosy. At so point, a good chunk of the Northern Continent had been taken again. Lind knew why but smiled.
The reason the rest of it was not taken was a trap laid long ago. He had spent his ti there testing the limits of his harmony and imprinting the lifeforce with it.
Essentially, to a Fiend at least, it was as good as poison. For the Bastard, it was likely a major setback at worst.
Whatever his current state, it would take pure lifeforce to recover. The only source of that was his own forces. It ant part of the reason no Fiends were to be found was due to them no longer existing most likely.
That also made things grim. It ant when the Bastard ca back, he would try to consu them all. He would force Lind into a direct confrontation.
That would be only done if the Bastard felt confident. He had all the reason in the world to. The recent confrontation was a cheat.
His ship had given him the power to overco him. It ant his own power was not enough.
With that knowledge confird, holding back was no longer necessary. Lind took comfort, however, that the current state of the Bastard was in his favor.
It was a question of who had recovered how much when they fought. Should he force the issue, he might be superior but there was no way to know. The current state of affairs was murky.
Neither side was recovered but equally, neither side could take advantage!
The Bastard could currently be overpowered by the other Master Tiers by sheer numbers and ard with conventional weapons or infused with harmonic Qi.
Hence they had been allowed to pull back and recover. Yet, the state of their enemy was unknown.
It was all guess work on his part on the actual state, even if roughly correct, the Eastern Continent was still locked behind a wall.
It would instantly reveal any breach, even with his harmony in use. He had no doubt a plethora of traps to kill as many as possible awaited them if they tried.
Only one path would be free of it. The one path the Bastard had not expected to lose. The bridge.
Yet, he could assu that even damaged, it was dangerous to others. The only exceptions might be his fellow 6 elentals and the Harmonic Dragons. Master Tiers also should be able to defend themselves.
It would tax them all harshly. They would still be able to put up a fight. The issue was what lay on the other side of the bridge.
Lind doubted a trap would be needed. It was possible the land itself was now a part of the bridge. All the Bastard would have to do was restart the building process. The bridge was damaged but the state of the foundation was harder to determine.
It was covered in fog for so reason. Nothing they had tried had penetrated it and they dared not go down any more than they dared. It was clearly ant to protect the foundation so it could start up again.
Lind could risk it but he knew the Bastard would account for that too. The question was how much he could prepare in his current state.
Whatever happened in their battle, it was clearly still affecting the Bastard. Lind had to chance it.
If the bridge could be broken completely, it would be the greatest coup. That much lifeforce unleashed back into the world would be beyond the Bastard's reach in its pure state.
It would have to return in so form over billions of years if at all. Such a delay would drive the Bastard made sure, but the greater success would be Heaven and Earth. Flush with such power and karmic retribution, there was a real chance the Bastard could be squashed by that power.
He needed to unleash it in such a dramatic thod to do it. There was no other way normally. The death of a single being, no matter their power, was just one.
Death happened everyday but there were as many reasons as people. Wars made it worse, of course but in the grand sche of things, it was still a drop in the bucket.
A whole continent, however, was a different matter. Further, the Fiends had united everyone against them at the final mont.
All the previous divisions had been burned away and what was left was now a united wish not to be consud.
The truth was, Lind knew it would not last but he did not need it to. He just needed those beings inside the bridge to do for Heaven and Earth what they did for him. His power was limited.
Heaven and Earth had far greater reserves to pull on.
He bowed again and was about to leave when he felt a disturbance. He tried to focus on it but instead was shocked to realize the world had frozen. That was not possible!
He tried to tear through space but nothing responded.
{You cannot leave. You are now in our debt once more.}
Lind recognized the chorus of voices. The spirits of Heaven and Earth.
"I am already working to end the nightmare. What more could you want?" It was an honest question. He had suffered but he had also gained. Cyntilla was safely in Samsara as well as Delenn.
He was hardly ignoring the Fiends too. So, what more was there?
{The price will not be now. It will co later. The wounds go far beyond what we have birthed.}
Lind narrowed his eyes but ti resud before he could speak more. He also felt the flow of power shift fully back into the expanding wave once again. The front would be advancing!
The ti to act was taken out of his hands but he also understood. He was fully healed. It had a price tag but he could not complain later he had not been compensated.
Heaven and Earth needed him, or its spirits did at least. He would move to fulfill his wishes and if he won, would face what ca next.
