Chapter 419: Chapter 419: What Happened Last Night
Jiang Ye hurried to the hotel and upon seeing that it was Chi Yue, he was initially stunned but then, without any useless chatter, he began to examine her.
Fu Rongyin sat on the edge of the bed, gripping her hand tightly until his knuckles turned white.
Jiang Ye glanced over, “Can you not grip so tightly? She might end up fine but with a fracture caused by you.”
Upon hearing this, Fu Rongyin slightly loosened his grip but continued to hold her hand in his palm.
Jiang Ye looked at him and decided to let him be.
After the examination, Jiang Ye said, “Her psychological issues are very serious. I suggest you go and find out what caused them, otherwise it’s hard to treat her properly.”
Fu Rongyin was stunned, “Psychological issues? Wasn’t she stabilized before?”
Jiang Ye had already been inquiring about what had happened here before his arrival, so he simply said, “The ‘before’ you’re talking about was four years ago. How do you know she hasn’t encountered anything in these four years?”
Fu Rongyin, his eyes darkening, thought of sothing, “Must we find him?”
“Nan Yuan? No, you need to find the person who took her out of prison, and those who were locked up with her back then, to truly understand what she went through.”
Fu Rongyin’s gaze fell on her emaciated face.
After a long while, he finally spoke, “When will she wake up?”
“By dawn. She’s stable now, she’ll naturally wake up after a good rest.”
“You may leave.”
Jiang Ye: “…”
Fu Rongyin watched over her for an hour and seeing that she was sleeping deeply, he thought about it, took off his shoes, and lay down beside her, carefully pulling her into his arms.
In her sleep, Chi Yue seed to sense sothing and moved closer to him, quickly nestling into his embrace.
Chi Yue had a peaceful sleep, utterly sleepless; nevertheless, she was in good spirits.
But the next second, she froze.
With just a slight lift of her head, her nose could touch his chin, the familiar scent enveloping her with every breath.
Chi Yue was stunned for several seconds before she finally closed her eyes.
anwhile, Fu Rongyin opened his eyes, gazing down at her.
He had woken up quite early, afraid to awaken her, so he hadn’t moved.
The mont she woke up, he noticed, and selfishness made him choose to pretend to sleep. He thought she would do sothing, but unbeknownst to him, she had made the sa choice as him.
Chi Yue opened her eyes again, and the sun was already up in the sky.
She got up in a fluster to look for her clothes, unintentionally waking Fu Rongyin in the process.
“When you ca here yesterday, you were dressed like this.”
Chi Yue startled, her eyes panicking, “Impossible, how could I go out in my pajamas?”
Seeing him awake, she simply got up and searched around the room, only to discover her shoes were missing as well.
Fu Rongyin had already gotten out of bed and placed a pair of slippers at her feet, “The bidding eting has been rescheduled to tomorrow, you don’t need to rush.”
Chi Yue, preoccupied, didn’t quite catch what he said. She put on the shoes and ran off.
At the door of the room, the secretary, who didn’t know how long she had been waiting, breathed a sigh of relief upon her return but beca anxious seeing her disheveled appearance.
“Go put on so clothes quickly.”
The secretary used a spare room card to open the door, fetched a coat for Chi Yue to put on, and then brought her so shoes and socks.
After doing all this, she said to Chi Yue, “Mr. Chi, I reviewed the proposal you gave , and it’s fantastic. I can hardly wait to see us at the bidding.”
Chi Yue managed a weak smile, but couldn’t genuinely smile, “I feel the opposite; I have no confidence in myself at all.”
The secretary smiled, “Just you wait and see, we will definitely win the bid tomorrow. It’s strange though; the ti had been set for the bid, and I was worried about how to wake you up when the ssage ca that it was postponed to tomorrow.”
She had co early to find Chi Yue, had knocked on the door for a long ti with no one answering, and had not picked up the phone either. She went in to look and, not finding anyone, thought Chi Yue might have left for so errand and decided to wait for her at the door. She had not expected her to return in such a state.
What exactly had happened, she was not sure, nor did she dare to ask.
It was Chi Yue who asked her, “Did you hear about anything happening last night?”
The secretary shook her head, “I haven’t been downstairs.”
Chi Yue had an idea and said, “You’ll be in charge tomorrow; I’m not in a good state.”
Originally, the plan involved Chi Yue but knowing she might have had a nightmare and anticipating the unpredictable, the safest option was to have soone else take over.
After hearing her explanation, the secretary hurriedly went back to her room to prepare.
Once Chi Yue cald down, she called Nan Yuan.
On the other end of the phone, Fu Hanyan’s voice ca through.
