After hanging up the phone, Yolanda Greenwood got busy once again.
There wasn’t much ti left, and she had to ensure both quantity and quality, so she had no choice but to sacrifice her own rest.
Just thinking about that recent phone call, she cursed viciously three tis: "Damn man!"
However, 30 minutes later, just as she was starting to feel inspired, her phone rang again.
It was a WeChat ssage from Cooper Coldson.
"Co down."
Cooper leaned against his car, looking at the Bright Courtyard Hotel.
An unremarkable three-star hotel that cost no more than 300 yuan for a night’s stay.
His gaze traveled up floor by floor until it finally rested on the eighth.
Which one was room 802?
On the way there, Cooper had been seething with anger, and he had even prepared himself to catch her in the act of infidelity, which, despite being divorced, would have disgraced Yolanda thoroughly.
But when he actually got to the hotel, he found he didn’t want to go up at all.
Not one bit.
It must be his ego at play.
After all, a man of his background, looks, and not to ntion his skills in bed, witnessing himself losing to so guy nad Pei, that was a complete and utter humiliation.
So, he sent a ssage to Yolanda.
She’d co down, take her stuff, and they’d wash their hands of each other from then on.
But after waiting for a full ten minutes, Yolanda didn’t show up and didn’t reply to the ssage.
Didn’t she see it?
Exasperated, Cooper called her directly.
It rang for a long ti before Yolanda finally answered, "Cooper, are you out of your mind? I’m really busy right now, and I don’t have the ti or mood to play with you."
"You curse out as crazy when I’m here to deliver your things?"
This woman really amazed him.
Yolanda was stunned; she hadn’t expected Cooper to personally deliver her belongings.
She could hardly hide her nervousness, "Then... then just leave it at the reception."
"No." Cooper got angrier the more he thought about it.
"Co on, you’re already here, just walk a few more steps and drop it at reception."
"I said no!" Cooper coldly refused, "Ten minutes. If you don’t co down, I’m tossing your stuff onto the roadside."
"You!" Yolanda was furious, "Do whatever you want!"
She was about to hang up, but decided not to let Cooper off so easily.
"Cooper, you stingy bastard, you and that bitch lissa are a match made in heaven, wish you a long and happy life together and stay the hell away from everyone else!"
After letting it all out in one breath, she hurriedly hung up and decisively turned off her phone!
Cooper was utterly dumbfounded; he even doubted whether the person on the other end had really been Yolanda.
He tried calling back, but it was no longer reachable.
She called him stingy?
Him?
Stingy?
Wishing him happiness with soone else?
Telling him to stop harming others?
Never in his life did Cooper imagine that these words would be associated with him.
He opened the trunk, grabbed Yolanda’s suitcase, and violently threw it on the roadside.
That wasn’t enough to calm his anger, so he kicked it several tis before driving away.
Yolanda sat on the upper floors, restless, for half an hour, until she finally assured herself that the distinguished Young Master Coldson wouldn’t set foot in the crummy hotel for revenge. She then sneakily went downstairs.
After looking around several tis, she found her suitcase in the greenery.
"Cooper, you big idiot! I hate you! I wish your children are born without assholes!!!"
In the following days, there was no word from Cooper, and Yolanda didn’t have ti to bother with him.
She worked herself half to death and finally managed to submit her two design drafts just in ti.
"Why only two?" lissa Greenwood looked them over with disdain.
"I’ve been too busy lately. Director Greenwood, rest assured, I will definitely make up the other two by next Wednesday."
Yolanda tried to maintain a calm tone.
"Yolanda," lissa surprisingly threw the drafts back, "As a newcor, I hope you can get your mindset right."
Yolanda frowned.
lissa continued, "Focus on doing your job well first. You don’t need to participate in this big show."
At these words, all four painters were shocked, their eyes wide.
Sophie Taylor was the first to stand up for Yolanda, "Director Greenwood, Yolanda has indeed been very busy lately, please give her a few more days."
"Yeah, Director Greenwood, have so leniency."
The others chid in.
lissa’s eyes swept across the three of them.
"I hope you understand that as the company’s director, you are the first team I personally oversee."
"For this big show, I will fight for the best opportunities for you. And you should know what you should and shouldn’t do."
Sophie tried to say more, but Yolanda pulled her back.
lissa’s aning was clear, she wanted them to stay out of Yolanda’s business, promising them opportunities.
But Sophie and the others didn’t take the bait.
"The company’s big show offers equal opportunities to everyone; we don’t need special treatnt, just equal chances for all."
"Yeah, Director Greenwood, Sister Reyes always said that Baruy values talent above all."
"Please give Yolanda a little more ti."
Gritting her teeth, lissa looked at them, just a bunch of fools led by Jenny Reyes.
"Fine," she spat out, irate, "I’m giving you one last day. If I don’t see the final drafts by this ti tomorrow, you forfeit your chance."
"Okay, tomorrow it is." Yolanda beat everyone else to it.
One more day was precious enough for her, she was content.
After returning, Sophie and the others cursed lissa once more.
"She’s clearly abusing her power to target Yolanda; why doesn’t upper managent deal with her?"
"I heard she brought in several big deals for the company, she’s financially backed."
"Yolanda, with just one day, can you even finish a single draft?"
"Don’t worry." Yolanda flashed a cunning smile at the group, "The other two are basically finished; I should be fine with one more day."
"Really?" Exuberant, Sophie and the others volunteered to take over all of Yolanda’s tasks for the day, allowing her to focus entirely on the remaining drafts.
"Thank you," Yolanda was grateful.
These people, like Jenny Reyes, were the rare few who helped her without fearing authority.
Yolanda barely slept a wink that night but managed to submit her designs with the others the next day.
Her style was always unique and conspicuous, with high color saturation that seamlessly blended into the overall design.
Jenny had once said it was a talent, a natural fit for Yolanda.
Even if lissa wanted to abuse her power, she couldn’t deny Yolanda’s work with her eyes open.
In the end, Yolanda and Sophie received the final opportunities.
"Post-production is even more important. Provide the final drafts by next Monday," lissa dismissed them in a few words.
Her mood was volatile, for she knew clearly that if Yolanda’s works appeared in the show, Yolanda would definitely steal the spotlight.
She had to find a way to stop all this, preferably to block Yolanda’s path as a designer completely.
