Yolanda Greenwood frowned and looked at Cooper Coldson. It now seed that the old detective was brought in by Cooper, but they hadn’t pre-arranged anything.
However, judging by the look of things, Cooper already knew the truth. Today’s wedding... felt more like a trap, a banquet luring the prey into a deadly feast.
Cooper glanced at Yolanda, his gaze carrying a complex array of emotions, before quickly shifting his eyes to lissa Greenwood. "What’s wrong? Have you admitted it all?"
"So what if I admit it?" lissa sneered coldly. "Can you go back? You and Yolanda, with that wedge of Noah Coldson between you two – do you think you can still be together?"
Cooper silently clenched his teeth.
"Hahaha..." lissa burst into laughter, utterly delighted. At this point, there was no way she could marry into the Coldson Family anymore, and she wouldn’t let Cooper and Yolanda have it easy either.
"lissa Greenwood, don’t celebrate too early," Cooper said again. "Take a look—do you know who this is?"
lissa’s laughter froze. Hearing the doors to the venue open once again, she turned her head to look.
"Impossible!" She instinctively took a step back. "It’s impossible! He... wasn’t he burned to death a long ti ago?"
Yolanda’s eyes widened in shock upon seeing the newcor. "Is it... Assistant Reyes?"
The person who had entered was indeed Richard Reyes. Half of his face showed visible burn scars, and behind him were several police officers.
He stepped onto the stage slowly, first nodding towards Cooper before handing over the docunts in his hand. "President Coldson, I’ve gathered everything you wanted to investigate. The files and evidence are all here."
"Good. You’ve done very well," Cooper said with a firm nod. "For your year-end bonus, you can have whatever you want."
It turned out Richard wasn’t dead. During those days in Country M, he had been working tirelessly day and night. Fearing he might have an accident after landing if he drove himself, he hired a driver.
Unexpectedly, the car had an incident about half an hour after leaving the airport.
But he escaped. The driver, however, was burned alive in the car.
As he fled, Richard distinctly saw a suspicious figure. He imdiately chased after that person and had spent these recent days tracking them down.
Yesterday, Richard finally worked with police to apprehend the individual – one of lissa’s hired assassins. The hitman confessed to their dealings with lissa.
Also yesterday, Richard contacted Cooper to reveal the truth. As it turned out, on the day of Richard’s "fake death," Cooper had already started to suspect lissa’s motives.
The wedding Richard had tried to stop was, from beginning to end, a trap set by Cooper, a carefully prepared punishnt for lissa.
"lissa Greenwood, correct?" One of the police officers behind Richard presented his badge. "We suspect you’re involved in several murder cases. We’ll need you to co with us for questioning."
"No! No..." lissa retreated several steps. Looking at Cooper, she scread hysterically, "Cooper, are you just going to stand by and watch?"
"Everything I did was because I love you. Yes, I hurt many people, but I’ve never hurt you."
"I love you! I didn’t do anything wrong—I just loved you too much. Cooper, please help , save !"
"lissa Greenwood, your so-called love frightens ," Cooper said coldly.
"Cooper, you can’t treat this way. You can’t..." lissa wept while shaking her head.
At that mont, the doors of the hall opened yet again, and Noah Coldson’s voice rang out from the distance. "Love? lissa Greenwood, what you call love for Cooper is nothing more than a selfish excuse for your wickedness."
Everyone turned to look.
Noah jogged forward. When he reached Yolanda, he lowered his voice and said, "I’m sorry I’m late."
Yolanda gently shook her head.
Noah then turned to lissa. "Do you know what I prepared for you during my ti in Country M?"
lissa’s face turned ashen. "You just want to harm . You and Yolanda are in cahoots – despicable scum!"
Noah turned to the guest seats, raising his voice. "Everyone, let’s hear about the so-called love of lissa Greenwood and what it led to."
"She claid to love my younger brother but had a child with Brooks Parker while dating him. Isn’t such love ridiculous?"
"And that’s not all. When she accompanied my brother to Country M, she sneaked off multiple tis to spend nights at motels with Brooks. Let ask everyone here: is this love?"
"You’re talking nonsense!" lissa scread in madness. "No matter what, I’m better than Yolanda. Yolanda claims to love Cooper but seduces you, his older brother, and even in Country M, she wouldn’t spare Brooks. Do you think she’s any better?"
She let out a cold laugh. "Let tell you, even on his deathbed, Brooks wanted to entrust our child to her. Isn’t she even more disgusting?"
"lissa Greenwood, enough!" Cooper’s gaze turned icy and nacing. "Do you think saring others will help you now?"
The police officer spoke again. "Ms. Greenwood, please cooperate and co with us. Don’t make us resort to force..."
Just then, lissa suddenly lunged at Isabella Ross, snatching Little Gabriel from her arms. "Nobody co near !"
Little Gabriel’s cries imdiately filled the venue.
"Gabriel!" Several people cried out in anguish at the sa ti. They wanted to step forward but didn’t dare.
lissa’s hand tightened around Little Gabriel’s fragile, delicate neck. "Stay back, or I’ll strangle him! I’ll strangle him!"
"lissa Greenwood, if you dare harm a single hair on him, I will make your life a living hell!" Cooper growled, his entire body trembling with rage.
"lissa, please don’t hurt him. Don’t hurt Gabriel," Yolanda pleaded through her tears, trying to comfort the screaming child. "Gabriel, don’t be scared. Gabriel, don’t be scared..."
Terrified, Yolanda grabbed Noah’s arm instinctively. "What do we do? What do we do?"
"lissa Greenwood, this child has never done you any wrong. Whatever you want, I’ll give it to you. Just let him go, let my Gabriel go," Isabella’s voice quivered as her heart tightened in fear.
"lissa, calm down. Don’t make any more mistakes," Noah said, trying to reason with her.
In truth, lissa hadn’t planned to run when she moved earlier, knowing there was no escape. Her target all along had been Little Gabriel, the one person everyone cared about yet whom she could seize so easily.
"lissa Greenwood, drop the hostage. Don’t push yourself into a corner." Even the policen’s faces had turned grim.
"Hahaha... Hahaha..." lissa laughed wildly, her head tipped back. "How delightful. I just love seeing you all like this—hating to death but helplessly at my rcy. Even if I die, it’s worth it."
She turned to gaze at the small infant in her arms, her long fingernails grazing his tiny face. "Yolanda, you’re just lucky. If not, you’d have died on that island back then. So why do you deserve to live and give birth to these little bastards?"
"lissa Greenwood, calm down. Please calm down," Yolanda begged, trembling. "Give the baby back. I’ll take his place as your hostage, alright?"
She stepped forward. "I’m the one you hate. Take as your hostage—you can do whatever you want to . Please, alright?"
