"Take Little May with you," Cooper Coldson suddenly said.
"What?" Yolanda Greenwood doubted her ears. After all, as far as she knew, Cooper was very fond of Little May.
"Take Little May back. Ella will have a companion," Cooper said firmly, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.
"Alright." Yolanda quickly agreed but felt concerned on lissa Greenwood’s side. "Will lissa agree?"
"I’ll talk to her," Cooper replied. He gave Yolanda a long, steady look before turning around and striding away.
Yolanda watched Cooper’s retreating figure, sensing sothing was off about him today. But pinpointing exactly what it was proved elusive.
If she could really bring Little May back, she’d make sure to expose lissa’s deeds.
After leaving the courthouse, Cooper imdiately went to the Greenwood Family’s residence and handed the divorce certificate to lissa. "It’s done."
"Cooper," lissa’s hands trembled with excitent. "This isn’t a dream, is it? No, I an... does this an we can finally... be together openly now?"
"Yes." Cooper responded with a simple acknowledgnt, showing no particular emotion as he sat down on the sofa nearby.
"Mom, this is amazing! You’re marrying Uncle Coldson now, right?" Little May tilted her head up joyfully, congratulating lissa. "So that ans I’ll have a dad again?"
Before lissa could answer, Cooper interjected coldly, "There’s sothing else I want to discuss with you."
lissa held Little May’s hand and stepped closer. "Go ahead, Cooper. What is it?"
Cooper’s gaze swept briefly over Little May, his tone icy. "Send her away."
"What?" lissa was taken aback. After all, she had always thought Cooper liked Little May over the ti they’d spent together. She asked hesitantly, "You want to... send Little May away?"
"Yes. Yolanda has always been fond of her. Let Yolanda take her," Cooper said, staring forward, his expression distant and cold.
"No!" Little May quickly ran to Cooper. "Uncle Coldson, please don’t send away. What did I do wrong?"
Cooper didn’t look at her, nor did he respond.
"Uncle Coldson, I’ll do anything you want to. Just don’t send away, okay?" Little May cried, begging desperately.
lissa also found this sudden change strange. Why was Cooper suddenly insisting on sending Little May away? Could it be that Yolanda had said sothing?
She probed cautiously, "Cooper, you see, Little May has always been so well-behaved and is already used to staying with us. Can’t we just..."
"After we’re married, we’ll surely bring An-An back to raise him properly," Cooper said, looking at Little May with disdain. "I don’t want you distracted by a child who’s not related to us in any way. You need to focus fully on raising An-An. You understand he will be the heir to the Coldson Family in the future."
"Uncle Coldson, please don’t drive away." Little May clung to Cooper’s arm. "You don’t have to take care of . Mommy doesn’t have to take care of . I’ll behave. Just don’t send away."
lissa kept her eyes on Cooper. Seeing that he showed no intention of changing his stance, she gently pulled Little May aside. "Alright, May. Don’t cry. Mommy will think of another way to convince Uncle Coldson."
Cooper abruptly stood up, strode to the door, and said, "Send her away. That’s non-negotiable. The wedding is set for next Wednesday—start preparing."
Before anyone could react, he was already gone.
"Mommy," Little May sobbed as she hugged lissa. "Please don’t send away, alright? I’ll be good. I won’t cause any trouble for you. Sob sob..."
"Stop crying!" lissa scolded suddenly, her mind a jumbled ss.
Ever since she beca increasingly dependent on that particular thing, her thoughts often felt scattered and disorganized.
It couldn’t be because of Yolanda saying sothing. If that were the case, Cooper wouldn’t be talking about marrying her. Looking back, Cooper’s fondness for the little girl likely stemd from a desire to have a child.
Now that he had a son, of course, he no longer wanted Little May around.
lissa lowered her head to look at Little May. But if she gave Little May to Yolanda, would Yolanda continue to stay silent?
lissa knew that was impossible. As long as Little May remained with her, Yolanda wouldn’t say anything. If Little May were sent away... No, she couldn’t let that happen so easily.
She crouched down and pulled Little May into her arms. "May, don’t worry. Uncle Coldson was just joking. Mommy won’t send you away."
"Really?" The little girl’s big tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Of course, it’s true." lissa smiled softly. "Didn’t you always want to go to the amusent park? Tomorrow, Mommy will take you, okay?"
"Hurray! We’re going to the amusent park!" Little May clapped her hands in excitent.
lissa forced a smile before heading upstairs alone.
When Yolanda ca ho, she saw Noah Coldson and Adam Sterling already there. She mustered a faint smile. "Why are you all here?"
"How did it go?" Lola Gold was the first to approach. "Did Cooper show up? The certificate..."
Yolanda took the divorce certificate from her bag and handed it over.
"I don’t want to look at it." Lola took it, promptly tossing it to Noah, and enveloped Yolanda in a hug. "Yolanda, congratulations. You can finally start a new life and welco the happiness that belongs to you."
Yolanda managed a faint smile but didn’t feel particularly happy. For her, her relationship with Cooper had long ended. Getting the certificate was just a formality.
anwhile, Noah looked at the green booklet with its three bold characters, a mix of complicated emotions stirring within him.
He was happy for Yolanda, yet he knew his younger brother must be hurting deeply inside. Most importantly, he realized this divorce certificate didn’t necessarily an Yolanda would accept him.
In fact, a sense of unease crept into him.
With Yolanda and Cooper divorced, if she had no intention of being with him, he would no longer have any legitimate reason to stay by her side and take care of her.
The whole room grew quiet, leaving only Lola cheering enthusiastically.
She suddenly noticed the somber atmosphere and looked around. "What’s going on? Weren’t we here to celebrate Yolanda today? Why do you all look so down?"
"I’m curious," Adam Sterling said with a teasing smile. "Yolanda, how much did you get?"
Lola turned to Yolanda. "Did Cooper, that scumbag, give you any money?"
"Yes," Yolanda nodded. "Five hundred million."
"Of course." Adam chuckled softly, unsurprised.
"How much?!" Lola’s eyes widened in shock. "Five hundred million? That’s enough for you to live worry-free for the rest of your life!"
She hugged Yolanda again. "Oh my gosh, you’re officially a rich lady now—no, wait, five hundred million makes you a super-rich lady!"
Yolanda laughed and shook her head. "What are you talking about? The money was clearly stated to be for my daughter. I wouldn’t dare use it recklessly."
"Oh, stop it. Money for your daughter is still your money," Lola said with a smirk. "At least Cooper didn’t end up being a complete jerk."
Yolanda sighed, setting her things down. "I can’t shake the feeling sothing was off about Cooper today."
"What do you an?" Lola teased. "Regretting it so much his gut twisted?"
Yolanda paused before speaking. "He asked to bring Little May back."
