This ti, lissa Greenwood hardly struggled and quickly beca adept at it.

It was only after inhaling that substance that she felt an unprecedented relaxation, as if all her previous irritability had been a puff of smoke that scattered with a light blow.

She enjoyed it imnsely, curling up in bed, hugging her blanket, savoring this mont.

She didn’t know when she had fallen asleep, and when she woke up, it was already midnight.

Again ca that uncontrollable emptiness, as if nothing but that substance could fill her.

lissa sighed deeply, knowing she had developed a dependency, but how could she not when it made her so happy, just like sex?

But dependency did not an addiction, she still felt she could control it.

Tonight was just because of tomorrow’s fertility checkup; she was too upset, and next ti, she wouldn’t let herself relapse so easily.

In the darkness, she pondered sothing.

After a while, lissa got out of bed and cautiously entered Little May’s room.

"Daddy..." In her sleep, the child mumbled pitifully, seemingly dreaming of Brooks Parker, her baby voice still tinged with sobs.

lissa twitched her lips. What would Little May think if she knew it was her who killed Brooks Parker?

Sadly, children will always be children, and Little May was actually just two years old; she deliberately wrote her age older than it was also to avoid Cooper’s suspicion.

A two-year-old child couldn’t even distinguish between good and bad.

Now, in Little May’s eyes, she, lissa Greenwood, was the closest and best mother.

She picked up the little person from the bed and walked out.

In a haze, Little May woke up and murmured sleepily, "Mommy? Where are you taking May?"

"Don’t you want Mommy to be happy?" lissa’s voice carried a chill.

Little May nodded. She noticed that lissa had taken her to the bathroom.

"Mommy, May doesn’t want to go potty."

"Good girl, it’s not for potty," lissa said as she placed Little May on the ground and then turned on the shower above.

"It’s so cold!" The water from the shower was cold, and Little May wanted to escape.

"Good girl, don’t move." lissa held her down firmly, "Don’t you want Mommy to be happy? If you take a cold shower quietly, Mommy will be happy."

Little May couldn’t understand; she was really cold. "Why does Mommy want May to take a cold shower? May is really cold."

The little girl soon turned pale with cold, her whole tiny body shivering.

"Good child, just don’t ask so many questions." lissa held her down and rinsed her with cold water for nearly half an hour.

When she picked up the child again, the child’s body was ice-cold and trembling non-stop.

lissa smiled with satisfaction, carried Little May to the window, and opened it.

The night wind was even colder, and Little May, still wet, imdiately burrowed into her chest.

lissa held her and let the cold wind blow on them for a while, then returned to the room, dried her off, changed her into clean clothes, and put her to bed.

"Sleep now." lissa checked Little May’s forehead, and sure enough, it was alarmingly high.

She smiled contentedly, "May, sleep now. Mommy will co to see you tomorrow morning, and rember, do not tell anyone about the cold shower tonight."

Little May mumbled sleepily, "Okay."

The next morning, Cooper Coldson arrived at the airport on ti but lissa Greenwood was nowhere to be seen.

As the plane was about to take off, he irritably called lissa, only to find that no one answered.

He was furious. He left the airport, got in his car, and said, "To the Greenwood Family."

Damn, he hated this feeling of being stood up, and lissa wasn’t even answering her phone. Who gave her the guts?

Upon arriving at the Greenwood’s, both lissa and Little May were absent.

The servant recognized Cooper and imdiately explained cautiously, "Mr. Coldson, little Miss had a fever this morning. It was frightening, 38 degrees, and Miss took her to the hospital."

"May has a fever?" Cooper rushed to the hospital.

At the Won’s and Children’s Hospital, he indeed saw lissa and Little May.

lissa looked very worried, "Cooper, why are you here? May has a fever, 39 degrees. The doctor said it’s fortunate we brought her in on ti, otherwise... she might have been severely hard."

Cooper frowned, looking at the confused little one on the bed, his heart softened, "How did she suddenly get such a high fever?"

"I don’t know." lissa said with guilt all over her face, "It’s my fault for not taking good care of her."

"It’s okay, it’s not your fault," Cooper said unwillingly. "But, did you forget sothing?"

"What?" lissa looked confused.

"Your phone?"

"My phone?" lissa sighed, "I rushed out so quickly this morning that I forgot it. Did you call ?"

Her eyes suddenly widened, "I rember now, today we were supposed to fly to Country M. Look at , I forgot."

"Let’s wait until May is better," said Cooper, walking to the bed and touching Little May’s forehead. "She’s still a bit hot. How can it be so serious? What did the doctor say?"

lissa, sobbing, said, "The doctor thinks she might have caught a cold."

Cooper didn’t think much, patted lissa on the shoulder, "Then you stay with her, I’ll go back to the office and co to see you tonight."

"Okay, Cooper, I’m really sorry about today, I truly forgot," lissa said apologetically as she saw Cooper off.

"It’s fine, just take good care of her." Cooper left quickly.

Standing alongside the wall, lissa tugged at the corner of her mouth, her mood considerably lifted.

On the way to the office, Cooper asked Richard Reyes about his recent schedule. Originally, the trip to Country M was supposed to take at least three days. He had pushed back so of his plans, but now he needed to get busy again.

"The day after tomorrow," Richard paused, glancing at Cooper through the rearview mirror, "you have a court session."

Cooper instinctively frowned, "What session?"

"It’s just..." Richard clenched his teeth, "It’s the divorce case between you and Miss Yolanda, scheduled for the day after tomorrow."

If he had gone to Country M, Cooper would have missed this court session, but now... he pinched the bridge of his nose, understanding.

Throughout the day, Cooper was sowhat distracted and ended up rescheduling several etings to go to the hospital early.

lissa had gone out to get dinner, leaving Little May alone in the room.

Her fever had finally subsided, but her little face was still flushed. Seeing Cooper, she went over and hugged his neck, "Uncle Coldson, you ca to see May."

Cooper stiffened for a mont, but ultimately didn’t push Little May away.

He gently patted the little girl’s bottom, "Have you been naughty again? How could you suddenly get a fever?"

"Ow, that hurts!" Little May suddenly shrieked.
