"What do you know?" The old lady imdiately pointed the gun at Yolanda Greenwood, "It looks like you are pregnant too. Think about the child in your belly and act with a little virtue."
"Just want money, huh?" Cooper Coldson suddenly spoke up from the side, "How much does the old lady want?"
Everyone imdiately turned to look at him.
The old lady sized up Cooper Coldson.
Julian Howard imdiately leaned in and whispered, "Mom, this guy is rich. He drives a car worth millions."
The subtext was clear, they could ask for a hefty sum and take him to the cleaners.
"We’ve taken care of Little Wood for so many years, and we’ve also paid for his dical treatnts. Now Julian can’t find a suitable job in a short ti..." the old lady laid out a plethora of pretexts.
"How much?" Cooper Coldson looked impatient.
The old lady bit her lip, "Five million!"
Julian Howard next to her nodded vigorously, his heart jumping with excitent.
If they could really net five million from this, wouldn’t their future be endlessly bright?
Yolanda knew five million ant nothing to Cooper Coldson, but why should these greedy mother and son gain sothing for nothing?
She didn’t wait for Cooper Coldson to speak and imdiately said, "You can’t give it to them."
In the eyes of the old lady and Julian Howard, the fact that Cooper Coldson ca and was willing to pay to settle this matter ant he was Leah Diaz’s man. Perhaps the wealthy young man took a liking to the married woman and had his sights set on Leah.
As soon as Yolanda interjected, they imdiately resented it.
"What’s wrong with this woman? What does this have to do with you?" the old lady lashed out at Yolanda, "I let you off because you are pregnant, but if you keep talking nonsense, be careful I’ll rip your mouth apart."
Julian Howard also waited nacingly for Yolanda, "Watch your words, or don’t bla for being rude."
"Five million, right?" Cooper Coldson slowly began to speak.
If Richard Reyes had been there, he would have noticed the slight curl at the corner of Cooper Coldson’s mouth, a sign that he was extrely angry.
It ant that soone was about to be in big trouble.
"Yes," the old lady watched Cooper Coldson cautiously.
At this mont, both mother and son were nervous but also filled with hope, as they were closer to five million than they ever had been in their lives.
"I can give you the money," Cooper Coldson said again.
"Really?" The old lady’s eyes instantly widened as she exchanged a glance with Julian Howard, unable to contain their excitent.
"You can’t give it to them," Yolanda felt that Cooper Coldson was being too careless with money.
Leah Diaz caught on and promptly tried to intervene, "Yes."
"Shut your mouth!" the old lady yelled at Yolanda, "You..."
"Take back what you just said," Cooper Coldson interrupted her discontentedly, "and apologize to her."
"Apologize?" The old lady’s first instinct was that Cooper Coldson was referring to Leah Diaz.
She imdiately turned to Leah with a smile, "Leah, I know these years haven’t been easy for you, my words were too much just now. Since you’ve found a better place now, if you want a divorce, we agree."
"Yes, Leah, if you want a divorce, if you want to take Little Wood away, I agree," Julian Howard echoed from the side, afraid Cooper Coldson might change his mind, "What happened between Naomi and was indeed my fault, but I just made a mistake that all n make."
After speaking, both the old lady and Julian Howard looked at Leah expectantly, waiting for her to forgive them.
Leah was extrely pleased inside, but she understood that Cooper Coldson ant for them to apologize to Yolanda.
She took a tentative glance at Cooper Coldson and saw that he didn’t seem to intend to speak.
She imdiately said, "Where is Little Wood, I want to take him away right now."
"Sure, Little Wood is upstairs, let’s go up." The old lady scurried to lead the way.
Julian Howard walked in the back, afraid Cooper Coldson might deny everything and take off.
On the way upstairs, Yolanda Greenwood glanced at Cooper Coldson several tis. She always felt that Cooper Coldson didn’t seem like a sucker, but what exactly was he up to?
They soon arrived at the place, and before opening the door, the old lady turned and smiled at Leah Diaz.
"Little Wood can hardly get out of bed now, moves less, eats less, and has lost a bit of weight."
Upon hearing this, Leah Diaz’s heart imdiately rose to her throat, "Open the door!"
The old lady hesitated for a mont and then opened the room door.
Instantaneously, an unpleasant sll wafted through, and the old lady imdiately started cursing, "You little piece of shit, did you go to the bathroom on the bed again, didn’t you?"
Leah Diaz’s body swayed, and she grabbed the old lady, "I’ll go check on him."
"Don’t rush, let clean up a bit first," the old lady casually picked up a dirty rag next to her.
"I’ll do it myself." Leah Diaz’s voice was suppressed with emotion, and she looked at Yolanda and the others, "You guys go downstairs and wait for ."
"Okay." Yolanda understood that their presence would make Little Wood uncomfortable.
Consequently, Yolanda and her group went downstairs, with the old lady and Julian Howard also following down, their gazes trailing after Cooper Coldson.
Upstairs, Leah Diaz found a clean towel and boiled so hot water before entering Little Wood’s room.
The sll was even stronger in the room, and it was very dim, with the doors and windows shut tight, the child turned his back to the door, curled up into a small ball, the blanket over him filthy.
Leah Diaz’s heart imdiately clenched; was this her Little Wood? How had her Little Wood beco like this?
She composed herself, opened a crack in the window, and spoke as softly as possible, "Little Wood, it’s Mommy."
The child on the bed visibly stiffened for a mont, then shrank back further.
"Little Wood, turn around and look, it’s Mommy, Mommy has co back." Leah Diaz struggled to hold back her tears, placing her things next to the bed, and carefully moved closer.
The child still had his back to her, showing no intention of turning around.
Leah Diaz’s heart ached terribly. Though Little Wood had a congenital heart condition, when she was in her ho country, the child was still happy every day. Little Wood, true to his na, was very smart and learned anything quickly.
She didn’t know what had happened during the ti she was gone.
She stepped forward and gently touched Little Wood’s back, "Little Wood, it’s Mommy, Mommy has co back."
The child recoiled further inward as if trying to avoid her.
Leah Diaz was in so much agony that she placed her hand directly on Little Wood’s back, trying to turn him over.
"Ah ah ah..." To her surprise, Little Wood suddenly scread out, as if going into a frenzy, sitting up in the corner of the room, coldly looking at Leah Diaz.
"Little Wood, it’s Mommy, don’t you recognize Mommy?" Leah Diaz stared at the child in disbelief.
Little Wood wrapped himself in the dirty blanket, warily watching Leah Diaz as if he truly didn’t recognize her.
Leah Diaz tried to talk to Little Wood many tis, but he had no reaction, always like a spooked little wild beast, extrely wary.
In the end, Leah Diaz had to give up on communication and carefully cleaned up the dirty things on the bed.
However, Little Wood’s clothes were still very dirty, and even after rummaging through everything, she couldn’t find a single piece of clean clothing.
"Little Wood, wait a mont, Mommy is going to buy you a new set of clothes, I’ll be back soon."
Leah Diaz was about to leave with the water when she suddenly felt soone grab her.
