lissa Greenwood’s sches were written all over her face.
If it had been soone else asking, Yolanda would’ve been very certain in telling them that she would never do such a thing.
But now, the one asking her was lissa Greenwood, the person she hated the most. With a sly look, Yolanda said, "Then you had better sincerely pray, pray that I don’t really beco a second you."
"You!" lissa, seeing her calculation fall through, was furious, "Then I won’t accept it."
"That’s fine," Yolanda said, indifferent, "I’ll just call Cooper Coldson right now and tell him the truth."
lissa glared at her.
Suddenly, Yolanda laughed, "So this is what it feels like to be the villain, lissa Greenwood. Let remind you, I’m the one threatening you right now, so you don’t have a choice."
lissa felt a sudden urge to hit soone.
She tried hard to calm herself down, and only after a while did she speak, "If you have other demands, I can accept them. But if... if you want to get back together with Cooper, then I..."
"No." Yolanda interrupted lissa firmly.
"Why should I believe you?" lissa countered, "All these years, your feelings for Cooper, I know them better than anyone, Yolanda. If you really want to make this happen, give a guarantee, a convincing guarantee."
"I’ll marry Noah Coldson!"
"What?" lissa was nearly overwheld by ecstasy, disbelievingly staring at Yolanda, "Are you serious?"
anwhile, in May’s room, Noah Coldson and Adam Sterling who’d heard this sentence were equally stunned.
Soon, Noah Coldson’s lips could barely contain his smile. He had succeeded, he felt like jumping up and cheering, he had succeeded, Yolanda was willing to marry him.
Adam Sterling, watching him struggling to contain himself, said flatly, "You really are a fool’s fortune."
Outside the room, Yolanda continued, "Of course, it’s true."
"That’s wonderful, just wonderful!" lissa was ecstatic, "Yolanda, you should have thought this way a long ti ago. Noah is so good to you, and he doesn’t even mind that you’re carrying soone else’s child. He is truly the best person for you to end up with."
Yolanda didn’t take up lissa’s point but instead confird, "So, you’re willing to take good care of May now? Let warn you, if I discover anything amiss, you’re dead."
"I won’t," lissa said in good spirits, "After all, she is my own flesh and blood. I was unwilling to take care of her before because I was afraid Cooper would find out the truth, but now there’s nothing to fear. I will definitely treat her well."
"You better keep your word," Yolanda pointed at lissa, "I will be watching you."
"Okay." lissa felt so relieved; the heavy stone on her heart finally seed to fall away. Before she left, she didn’t forget to offer her blessings to Yolanda and Noah.
Once she was gone, Yolanda too let out a sigh of relief.
She had to admit that playing the villain for the first ti was a new experience for her, but achieving her goal so smoothly did give her a sense of accomplishnt.
Noah Coldson and Adam Sterling ca out of the room quickly.
Noah’s gaze towards Yolanda was like a burning fla.
Yolanda suddenly realized it was because of what she had just said. She imdiately stood up and anxiously explained to Noah, "Big Brother, don’t misunderstand, what I just said was only to put lissa at ease."
"Hmm?" Noah was clearly not willing to accept this.
"It’s just... Big Brother, when I said I’d marry you, it was..." Yolanda hung her head, full of remorse, "I was lying to lissa."
Noah’s fiery gaze extinguished in an instant, and he appeared utterly disheveled.
"Yolanda!" Adam Sterling couldn’t bear to watch, "You’ve gone a bit too far this ti."
Because he knew just how excited Noah had been just a mont ago, and now how devastated he was.
"I’m sorry, I’m really sorry." Yolanda quickly apologized. The only words she could think of to make lissa believe her were those.
She truly hadn’t considered Noah’s feelings, and she now cautiously looked into Noah’s eyes, "Big Brother, I’m really sorry."
"It’s okay." Noah gave them a wry smile, "Although I was only happy for a mont, it was at least better than never having that mont at all."
Adam Sterling just shook his head, speechless.
"I’m really sorry, Big Brother." Yolanda still felt apologetic.
"It’s really fine." Noah shook his fist, full of fighting spirit, "I will continue to work hard to make the lie into reality."
Looking at Noah’s injured arm, Yolanda felt worse inside.
She really didn’t deserve Noah, nor was she worth such treatnt from him.
She no longer had feelings for Noah, her feelings were more like truly seeing him as a big brother now. It would be unfair to Noah to accept him under these circumstances.
In her heart, Yolanda promised Noah silently, "Big Brother, I will also work hard to make the lie into reality."
Brooks Parker returned with Little May around three or four in the afternoon.
Clearly, the pair had a great ti. When they knocked on Yolanda’s room door, they were still laughing and chatting.
The current Brooks was becoming more like Senior Brother Brooks from before.
"You’re back," Yolanda gently patted Little May’s head, "Did you have fun?"
"Fun! I rode the carousel and took lots of pretty pictures, they’re all on Daddy’s phone." Little May was truly happy and proud, because her daddy had never taken pictures of her before.
Brooks looked down and tugged at the corner of his mouth, the desolation on his face was evident.
Yolanda knew Brooks was preparing himself, taking photos so he could look at them when he thought of May in the future.
She smiled and said, "That’s great."
"Aunt Yolanda, this is for you." May took out a small toy from her little bag, a pink teddy bear, "Daddy and I picked it out together, it’s called Strawberry Bear, it slls like strawberries."
"Really?" Yolanda took it, sniffed it by her nose, and indeed, it was the scent of strawberries.
"Thank you, May," she then looked up at Brooks, "And thank you, Senior Brother Brooks."
Brooks shook his head, crouched down, and straightened Little May’s clothes, "May, why don’t you go ho first? Daddy wants to talk to Aunt Yolanda for a few minutes. I’ll be quick, and tonight Daddy will make spaghetti for May."
"Okay, then Daddy co back early." Little May said her goodbye to Yolanda and cheerfully went ho.
"Let’s talk inside." Yolanda moved to the side.
"No need." Brooks glanced down the staircase, clearly worried that Little May might hear them, "Let’s go up top, to the rooftop. You haven’t been there before, have you?"
Yolanda shook her head; indeed, she didn’t know that the rooftop was accessible. Leah Diaz had never taken her there.
Thus, the two of them, one after the other, quickly made their way to the rooftop.
The wind was a bit strong, but the feeling was good, the view expansive. Standing here made one feel like their mood could open up a great deal.
Yolanda pulled her clothes around herself and imdiately felt a wave of warmth.
Turning her head, she saw that Brooks had draped his coat over her.
"Thank you."
