Noah Coldson and Adam Sterling were stunned to see who had co to bail out Brooks Parker. They hadn’t expected it to be lissa Greenwood.
"It’s clear now who wanted to kill Yolanda," Adam Sterling shook his head. "This woman is truly a lunatic."
"Like a bad penny," Noah Coldson muttered as he took out his phone, secretly snapped a photo of Brooks Parker eting with lissa Greenwood, and then sent it to Yolanda Greenwood.
Adam Sterling teased him, "What now? Not pretending you’re not in Gray City?"
Noah Coldson was speechless, "With lissa Greenwood here, Yolanda is in danger. I can’t worry about anything else."
"Who knew our great captain was such a hopeless romantic," Adam Sterling shook his head continually.
Noah Coldson couldn’t be bothered with him and typed out a text ssage to Yolanda Greenwood, "The man’s na is Brooks Parker, he’s a drug addict. Adam Sterling said he lives right below you? Did you know him before? He seems to be quite familiar with lissa Greenwood."
When Yolanda Greenwood saw the ssage, she was eating breakfast, so shocked that her bun fell from her hand.
"lissa Greenwood is in Gray City too?"
"A man nad Brooks Parker? Noah, are you sure?"
Adam Sterling, peering over at Noah Coldson’s phone, acutely noticed Yolanda’s choice of words.
"Also? What does that an? Who else ca?"
Noah Coldson paused, "Could it be that Yolanda knew I was here all along?"
"Not likely," Adam Sterling recalled, feeling that Yolanda probably didn’t know, this "also" perhaps referred to soone else.
But it was not important, and he didn’t suggest Noah to inquire further.
Noah Coldson answered the second question directly, "Yes, his na is Brooks Parker, do you know him?"
When Yolanda saw the ssage, she put down her chopsticks, unable to reconcile the scruffy man in poverty downstairs with the dashing Senior Brother Brooks from her mory.
"How can this be?" she couldn’t help murmuring, "How could Senior Brother Brooks end up like this?"
"Who?" Leah Diaz asked, completely confused.
Yolanda imdiately began to explain, "Do you know? The man downstairs is nad Brooks Parker, a forr schoolmate of mine, once quite the notable figure in our school."
"Are you... sure?" Leah Diaz wracked her brain but couldn’t connect the man downstairs with the person Yolanda was describing.
Yolanda nodded affirmatively and added, "Moreover, he’s a drug addict."
"Drugs?" Leah Diaz stood up from her chair in shock, not expecting her apartnt to be so dangerous.
Sharing a building with a drug addict? The thought alone was frightening.
They both fell silent for a while, digesting the news. Finally, they exchanged glances by tacit agreent, clearly both thinking of Little May.
"Sigh, May really is pitiful," Leah Diaz sighed.
Yolanda struggled before speaking, "Your initial guess was right."
"What?" Leah Diaz didn’t understand.
"lissa Greenwood disappeared for a while because she... went to have a baby."
Leah Diaz was so shocked her eyes almost popped out, "You’re saying... May is lissa Greenwood and Brooks Parker’s child?"
Yolanda nodded.
"Oh my god, oh my god," Leah Diaz paced back and forth. "Give a mont, let process this, it’s too much information for one morning."
It was the sa for Yolanda.
Noah Coldson quickly sent another ssage, "Don’t worry, once Adam Sterling and I finish our matters here, we’ll co find you."
Yolanda frowned, realising late and said, "You’re with Dr. Sterling? You’re also in Gray City?"
Before Noah Coldson could reply, she was certain, "So, you still followed through?"
Suddenly, an indescribable feeling spread through her chest, giving her a sense of solidity and safety.
"Sorry, Yolanda, I just couldn’t rest easy." Noah Coldson texted back quickly, "But I didn’t lie to you, I do have a mission here, and it involves Brooks Parker."
Noah’s cautiousness made Yolanda both laugh and cry.
She smiled and replied, "Okay, I’ll wait for you at the apartnt."
After returning to her room, Yolanda couldn’t wait to make a video call to Lola Gold and shared the news with her.
"Wait a minute, let get this straight. The deadbeat single dad downstairs is actually our school’s forr star, Brooks Parker?"
"Yes," Yolanda nodded.
"And the little girl who is always looking for her mother, her mom is lissa Greenwood?"
"That’s likely."
Lola’s eyes widened with astonishnt, "So, when she suddenly left the country, it wasn’t because of you and Cooper Coldson, but because she went off with Brooks Parker to have a baby?"
Now it was Yolanda’s turn to be stunned; she hadn’t considered the connection between these events until Lola ntioned it, but now it all made sense to her.
Lola continued, "Maybe, she was already pregnant, couldn’t hide it anymore, needed a reason to go abroad, so she found you, and so..."
Yolanda unimaginably added, "So, everything at the birthday banquet was her design, giving her a legitimate reason to go abroad and have her baby."
Lola laughed bitterly, "Back then, lissa Greenwood really did think about being with Brooks Parker. But after going abroad, after giving birth, she realized sitting on a gold mine was better than waiting for a potential stock to rise."
"How can she be so shaless?" she said with resignation. "It’s a loss that her thick skin wasn’t used to study bulletproof vests."
Yolanda let out a soft sigh and slowly, her eyes began to redden.
"Yolanda," Lola understood her frustration, "if you want to cry, let it out."
Yolanda couldn’t control herself anymore, and buried her face on the desk, sobbing uncontrollably.
It wasn’t until today that she had an epiphany; not everything was her being suspicious or paranoid. Instead, she had overestimated human nature.
lissa Greenwood truly was the root cause of all problems, destroying Yolanda’s love, ruining Brooks Parker’s life, and affecting Little May, Cooper Coldson, Gemma Morgan... they were all victims.
lissa Greenwood must be punished.
"Yolanda, I’m really looking forward to it," Lola spoke again, "if Cooper Coldson finds out that lissa Greenwood has a child in Gray City, what will he do?"
She watched Yolanda excitedly, "Yolanda, from the start, Little May has been a gift from heaven, a chance for you to turn defeat into victory, to make lissa Greenwood pay for her actions."
Yolanda looked up, her eyes blurred with tears, at Lola.
"Yolanda, you must let Cooper Coldson know all this," Lola’s gaze burned with hatred, "let him know that lissa Greenwood stole your credit from that year, pretended to be infertile to force him into marriage, and worst of all, she had already given birth to a child. I want to see how he’ll regret his choices."
She warned Yolanda earnestly, "Yolanda Greenwood, you promise , you absolutely cannot forgive Cooper Coldson, let this blind-hearted scum regret until his dying days!"
The more she thought about it, the more exhilarated she beca, "Just thinking about it feels great!"
