Brooks Parker led May down the stairs.
At the door, Little May suddenly stopped, looking anxiously at Brooks Parker, "Daddy, is May pretty enough? Will Mom not like May?"
Brooks Parker let out a bitter smile, lifting May into his arms, "Of course not, our May is so beautiful, Mommy will definitely like her."
When his daughter was born, had he not also wanted to be a good father?
If lissa Greenwood hadn’t left, their family of three would surely be happy now, and he wouldn’t be hitting May.
Thinking of this, he felt so discomfort in his heart, and kissed May on the cheek, "May doesn’t have to worry, Mommy will live with Daddy and May from now on, and Daddy will take good care of May."
May, hearing this, was thrilled, hugging Brooks Parker’s neck and rubbing against it.
Father and daughter entered, and May caught sight of the woman standing in the living room.
The woman had wavy long hair, delicate makeup, and her clothes looked expensive, clashing with the rest of the ho.
May thought the woman looked more like a TV star, completely different from the mother she had imagined.
lissa Greenwood was equally stunned when she saw the child; the little girl looked around two or three years old, underdeveloped, dark and thin, with exceptionally large eyes, nothing like her.
She was even more repulsed.
"May," Brooks Parker vaguely sensed lissa Greenwood’s emotions, and shook the child in his arms, "quick, call Mommy."
Little May hesitated before mustering the courage to call out, "Mommy!"
Brooks Parker, holding the child, stepped forward and handed her to lissa Greenwood, "Co on, hug May, this child is always calling out for her Mommy."
lissa Greenwood resisted with her whole body, but she couldn’t push the child away at this mont, as that would certainly displease Brooks Parker.
She had to take Little May, and with disgust, she asked, "What’s that sll on the child?"
"What sll?" Brooks Parker, indifferent, sniffed, "There’s no sll."
He was drunkenly slumped on the sofa and quickly began to nod off.
lissa Greenwood hurriedly set the child down, wanting to leave quickly, now that she had gotten to know the place and roughly understood the situation, her task was done.
"Are you really my Mommy?" At that mont, Little May suddenly tugged at her clothes.
"Don’t touch!" lissa Greenwood swatted the child’s hand away, "Your hands are so dirty, what are you touching? You have no manners."
Little May pouted, holding back her tears.
lissa Greenwood kicked Brooks Parker, "Hey, it’s getting late, I’m going back."
"What’s the rush?" Brooks Parker, his eyes still closed, mumbled, "Spend so more ti with the child, she always talks about you."
lissa Greenwood snorted, strode toward the door to leave.
Just as she took a step, she was pulled back.
"Mommy, this is May’s favorite toy, can you play with it?" It was Little May, a dark, thin little hand holding an even darker stuffed toy, offering it to her.
"What filthy thing?" lissa Greenwood disdainfully sent the toy flying, "Freak, stay away from , and also, don’t call Mommy."
Little May was frightened, tears instantly welling up.
While crying, she said, "Aren’t you my Mommy? Daddy says you are my Mommy, and Daddy also said, you were going to co back and live with us, woo woo woo..."
"Don’t cry!" lissa Greenwood was utterly annoyed, finding Little May even more botherso than Brooks Parker.
She couldn’t stand another second in this wretched place, she turned and quickly paced out.
"Mommy, don’t go, please don’t go?" Although Little May knew her mother didn’t like her, she had finally seen her and didn’t want her to leave.
"Don’t follow , don’t cry." lissa Greenwood gritted her teeth, "And don’t call Mommy, I couldn’t produce an ugly thing like you."
A crazed hatred flashed in her eyes, "You and that father of yours both deserve to die."
Little May was petrified, shivering as she stood there, trying hard to hold back her tears.
lissa turned to leave and reached for the doorknob, but just then, a knocking sound ca from outside.
Leah Diaz stood with a plate of food, blinked at Yolanda Greenwood by the staircase, and continued to knock, "Big brother, it’s , from upstairs. I’ve brought so food for you and sister-in-law."
Yolanda shook her head with a smile; Leah Diaz was just too curious.
However, after Leah knocked twice, no one opened the door.
Persistent, she continued, "Open up, I brought so braised pork ribs for you to try."
lissa stepped back, distancing herself from the door.
"It’s the auntie from upstairs." May sniffed, moving forward as if she was ready to open the door.
lissa pulled her back, "Don’t open the door."
May pouted.
lissa pointed a finger at her, "No crying."
On the other side, Leah kept knocking, determined not to stop until the door opened.
Grinding her teeth, lissa muttered, "The people upstairs, what’s with all the fuss?"
"The two aunties upstairs are really nice," May countered weakly.
"You know nothing!" lissa said disdainfully, convinced that anyone who associated with such a father and son couldn’t be good people.
Left with no choice, she went back to wake Brooks Parker, to have him check the door.
Outside, Leah Diaz was perplexed. She ca to deliver sothing; why wouldn’t the man open the door? Too strange.
Yolanda also felt sothing was amiss and went downstairs to knock as well, "Big brother, it’s Yolanda. I’ve brought so food for you and May."
Inside the room, upon hearing Yolanda’s voice, lissa froze.
She also faintly heard the na, turned to ask Little May, "What’s the na of the woman upstairs?"
"Aunt Yolanda, Aunt Leah." Little May was smart; she had already morized Yolanda and Leah’s nas.
It really was Yolanda!
lissa couldn’t believe it. The world was indeed small. She had co to M country and yet managed to encounter Yolanda.
And the other one nad... Leah Diaz?
lissa felt the na was familiar but couldn’t recall who it was.
She shook Brooks awake vigorously, "Get up, soone is knocking. Go check it out."
"Who is it?" Brooks muttered irritably.
"Go check." lissa turned and sat on another sofa, lost in thought.
Brooks opened the door, unwillingly, and saw Yolanda and Leah at the door, each holding a dish and so fruit.
"Big brother, this is for you guys," Yolanda imdiately said.
Leah craned her neck to look inside, "Is May’s mom back? Won’t you co out to say hello?"
Brooks took the offerings, "We’ll have a chance to introduce you later."
He closed the door without another word.
Back inside, Brooks was now more alert, placing the items on the table, looking at lissa with a hint of malice, "The people from upstairs, Yolanda, you must know her, right? Why not go out and greet her?"
