For the next year, Yolanda Greenwood lived in profound agony.
Her studies, life, and love life all seed to have gone awry. Thinking back to that ti now, she still felt like she was suffocating in endless darkness.
Ivy Hall noticed her pale complexion and imdiately showed concern, "Yolanda, are you okay? Are you feeling unwell?"
Yolanda shook her head, "I’m fine."
But her face indeed didn’t look good.
Noah Coldson was almost lunging forward, "Alright, let’s go back."
Yolanda nodded; she hadn’t expected that recalling that period would still have such a significant impact on her.
She smiled apologetically at the two of them, "I’m really okay, sorry for worrying you."
After sending her back to the infirmary, Ivy Hall and Noah left together.
"Sigh!" Ivy Hall shook her head. She had lived a by-the-book life, eting her husband through a blind date, marrying naturally a year later, then having a child two years after. Everything seed to have gone according to plan, so she didn’t understand love.
However, she envied Yolanda and also felt sorry for her, "Yolanda really values your brother."
She was sowhat indignant, "You seem so reliable, is your brother a jerk?"
Noah thought for a mont, "Maybe, he has his unavoidable difficulties."
"What, got soone else pregnant?"
Noah helplessly, "Sister Hall, what are you saying?"
Ivy Hall shook her head decisively, "Whatever the difficulties, can’t he just speak up? Doesn’t he know? Such emotional knots are most likely to cause depression."
She exaggerated, "Do you understand depression? It can kill people."
Noah’s expression changed slightly, "Sister Hall, do you think Yolanda has depression?"
"You’re usually so clever, why do you get confused about matters concerning Yolanda?" Ivy Hall turned back and glanced towards the infirmary, "She definitely had it before, and she hasn’t figured out the key points yet, that’s why she was so emotionally unstable just now."
She patted Noah’s arm, "If you can get to the bottom of it, it would be best to tell her. Although there’s nothing wrong now, if such matters build up too much, they can really lead to serious problems."
Noah’s face turned paler. Should he tell Yolanda the truth right away?
"I have to go back to the hospital for consultations the day after tomorrow, take good care of her." Ivy Hall bade farewell and went back to pack her things.
Noah stood in the cold wind, at a loss, not even noticing Alex Johnson approaching from behind.
"Captain, what are you thinking about?"
Noah jumped in fright, then asked Alex, "Is Adam Sterling back?"
"Yeah." Alex nodded, "Ca back yesterday, said he pulled several all-nighters, and is probably catching up on sleep now."
"Let’s go!" Noah strode toward Adam’s room.
"What for?" Alex chased after him trying to stop him, "No way, you’re going to wake him up? Ancestor, why bother him if there’s nothing wrong?"
Noah didn’t answer. Minutes later, he was pounding on Adam’s door.
Alex was scared witless, "Forget it, forget it, you guys have fun, I’m going back to supervise their training."
Running faster than a rabbit, he clucked his tongue as he ran, "All’s well, why provoke the Living King of Hell?"
Noah kept pounding on the door.
Nearly ten minutes passed, the door almost breaking, when it finally opened.
Adam Sterling appeared at the door with a nest of hair and huge panda eyes, brimming with resentnt.
He almost growled, "Noah Coldson, you’d better have sothing, and it better be urgent!!"
Noah was taken aback by his ghostly appearance, instinctively stepping back, suddenly feeling that his urgency wasn’t so urgent.
Embarrassed, he scratched his head and grinned sheepishly, "Dr. Sterling, it’s not really urgent..."
"Bang!" The door slamd shut!
Noah yelled at the top of his lungs, "Rest up, you have soone to et tomorrow!"
"Scram!!!"
Convinced he had been heard, Noah walked away obediently.
This Adam Sterling was a psychologist dispatched by higher-ups, whose rank was even above that of his own squad leader.
Most importantly, Adam’s fundantals were so solid, his ability to see through people’s hearts could be wasted if not applied to criminal investigations, and his temperant was fierce, leading to those who provoked him having no good outcos.
You could say that within the whole camp, the only person who dared to disturb his sleep like that was Noah Coldson.
Ivy Hall had just ntioned that Yolanda had emotional knots, and if accumulated too much, it might lead to bigger problems later, so Noah thought of Adam first.
Their camp was part of a special departnt, handling very special cases involving extrely vicious criminals.
Hence, many incidents they encountered were beyond the psychological endurance of ordinary people, especially rookies who must see a psychologist after their first mission.
Adam could be considered the leading figure in this field; he and Noah complented each other, both indispensable to the camp.
Noah was anxious, but after seeing Adam’s appearance, he wasn’t afraid that Adam couldn’t treat Yolanda; he was afraid Adam’s ghostly appearance would scare her, so he could only wait until tomorrow.
The next day, Noah forced himself to wait until the afternoon before knocking on Adam’s door again.
Fortunately, this ti at the door, the devil had turned into an angel.
Adam had put on a white lab coat, a pair of silver-rimd glasses, and his hair was neatly combed. Even the disdain on his face couldn’t be faulted.
He seed to have already expected the visitor would be Noah, snorted, "Wow, the iron tree is blossoming, coming to dazzle with its brilliance?"
He left after cursing, entering the house.
Noah followed, apologizing, "Could you just make a visit, please help."
"Noah, what do you think will happen if the higher-ups find out you’ve brought soone into the camp without permission?" Adam’s eyes were particularly pale, his glance always carried a hint of coldness.
He made a gun with his fingers and pointed it at Noah’s forehead, "Bang."
"I’m not afraid." Noah was fearless.
"Not afraid of us snitching? Or not afraid of dying?" Adam clearly was very dissatisfied with this situation.
He pushed away Noah and sat down, "Hurry up and take her away, I’m not one of your dim-witted soldiers, and I don’t want to cause trouble."
"Aren’t you a doctor?" Noah asserted, "What reason do you have to refuse to heal and save lives?"
"A doctor?" Adam chuckled, "You got it wrong, I’m not a doctor, I’m an Executioner."
He leisurely began to organize his things, "My sole purpose here is to kill off the last bit of humanity in your hearts."
Seeing persuasion was not working, Noah switched tactics, "Adam, don’t you ever need for anything?"
"I’ve never hard you." Adam was still unmoved, blocking Noah’s words with his response.
Noah, frustrated, leapt forward and grabbed Adam’s arm, pulling him out, "Today you have to go, whether you want to or not!"
"Adam, don’t push too hard!"
