"Us two?"
Lola imdiately shook her head, "Forget it, if we had that kind of brains, we’d have made a fortune a long ti ago."
However, George just wouldn’t let it go, pestering them even during dinner.
"It’s not like I’m asking you to do much, just hold the fort, and it would be even better if you could relay so ssages."
George turned to Yolanda, "This matter concerns a lot of people in Ully Town for half of their lives, and if it’s not negotiated well, my conscience wouldn’t be clear. Just think of it as helping everyone out."
"What help could these two little girls possibly offer?" the old lady sneered disdainfully.
"Mom, they are college graduates who ca back from the big city," George dismissed the old lady without giving any face, "As for you, you know nothing, so don’t ddle."
The old lady wasn’t angry; she seed to really like Yolanda and even helped persuade her, "Yolanda, just help your uncle out."
Despite being sowhat reluctant, Yolanda agreed since both elders had spoken, and compared to the other villagers, they might indeed be able to help.
So she nodded in agreent, "Alright, but just to set things straight upfront, if we really can’t help, don’t bla us uncle."
"How could I?" George was overjoyed, "Don’t worry, just by being there, everything will be fine."
After dinner, Lola confird with Yolanda again, "Are you really going to go? Don’t force yourself."
"It’s okay, not really forcing myself." Yolanda smiled, "Your uncle and the others only flaunt their authority around the village. Facing those developers, they really might suffer a lot."
Lola nodded in agreent, and frankly, even if Yolanda regretted it, she herself would still go.
After all, Ully Town was Ruby Ross’s hotown, and it was hers now too, and she was happy to help out with small things.
The next day, both dressed in more formal suits and light makeup, looking exceptionally pretty.
George’s eyes lit up, feeling like his own worth had increased substantially.
"Let’s go." He briefed them in the car, setting the compensation at no less than ten thousand per square ter.
Yolanda and Lola exchanged a glance, thinking ten thousand per square ter wasn’t too high, considering Gray City’s cheapest property prices were over ten thousand anyway.
"Uncle," Lola asked excitedly, "how much would we get then?"
George didn’t respond but looked at them aningfully.
Lola imdiately understood, "Don’t get wrong, I’m not looking to share any money, but as for my mom..."
"Your mom’s fields were taken back a long ti ago, and even the house was built by afterward." Clearly, he did not intend to share with Ruby Ross.
No matter, Lola nodded, "Fine, fine, we don’t want a single penny, but how much can you exactly get, Uncle?"
George glanced at Yolanda, beaming proudly, "At least four to five million."
Yolanda and Lola were both shocked.
"Four to five million? Is that small quadrangle that big?"
"The small quadrangle and the vegetable garden outside, that’s all hostead land. Isn’t everyone’s ho around four to five hundred square ters?" George said, as if it were obvious.
Yolanda and Lola exchanged a look, choosing not to say anything further.
They both knew very well that George’s demand of ten thousand per square ter was simply outlandish.
Let alone developnt in that area was scant, with property prices only at three to four thousand; even the city area’s prices weren’t more than five to six thousand.
These people dreaming of four to five million in compensation? Complete pie in the sky.
Soon, they arrived at the developers’ office, where the developers’ representatives were already waiting in the eting room.
Leading them over, George instructed Yolanda and Lola firmly to stick to the ten thousand per square ter price, absolutely no conceding.
The two girls silently agreed to say nothing.
Upon entering the eting room, they saw a middle-aged man in his forties, accompanied by two underlings, waiting there.
Seeing Yolanda and Lola, the man was clearly surprised. "Oh, looks like Deputy Group Leader Ross ca prepared today, bringing reinforcents."
"No reinforcents, just family, they’re rather concerned about this matter and insisted on coming to see for themselves."
George introduced proudly, "This gentleman here is responsible for the Coldson Group project, Mr. Enzo Harper."
"These two ladies are Miss Yolanda and Miss Lola Gold, let’s all have a seat."
Yolanda and Lola stood pale-faced.
Lola uncertainly looked towards Enzo, "You are with the Coldson Group?"
"You know about the Coldson Group?" Enzo seed pleasantly surprised and a bit smug.
George imdiately added, "These two are from Gray City, they’ve probably heard of the Coldson Group."
He looked at them, "Have you heard of it?"
Lola tugged at Yolanda’s sleeve and they slowly sat down.
"We’ve heard, heard," Lola managed a forced smile.
The negotiation started quickly, and obviously both parties knew the ten thousand per square ter price was impossible, so the whole discussion felt more like playing house.
Lola and Yolanda both kept their heads down, not speaking, while Enzo and George tried various ways to get them to talk.
"What do you work as in Gray City?"
"Nothing much, just doing so live streaming and selling goods at ho." Knowing Yolanda didn’t want to speak, Lola took the initiative to respond.
"Miss Lola Gold is an internet celebrity?" Enzo looked suggestive. "No wonder you looked familiar, I might have even been in your live streaming room."
Lola forced a smile, "Maybe."
Such irrelevant chatter to the tourism developnt project went on for two hours, by which point the two main figures were clearly tired.
"Let’s have lunch then, I’ll treat Mr. Harper to Ully Town’s specialty dishes," George rose obsequiously.
Enzo’s gaze landed on Yolanda and Lola.
George imdiately understood, "They’ll join us too."
He whispered, "Go back after you’ve eaten."
They changed locations, going to the best restaurant in the city area, according to George.
After ordering, Enzo stood up to go to the bathroom.
"Let’s go, Mr. Harper, I’ll show you the way."
The duo left the private room together.
"These two young beauties, they’re your relatives?" Enzo asked as they walked.
"Sort of," George probed Enzo’s intention. "Mr. Harper interested?"
"Ha ha ha..." Enzo laughed, "Who doesn’t like beauties? Right, Deputy Group Leader Ross?"
He gave George a aningful look, "Just like money, who doesn’t like it?"
George understood, "Exactly, beauties and money, who doesn’t like them? But you also need the opportunity and the right conditions, otherwise, you can only look on enviously."
"Deputy Group Leader Ross," Enzo patted his shoulder, "I’m ready to spend for beauties."
A mutual understanding flashed in their eyes as they smirked at each other.
