白牧第一個排除的問題,是逃出宅邸的辦法.

Actually, by now, the thod of leaving the manor was relatively clear. The witch's house changed according to her will. The fact that they were trapped here ant the master of the house did not want them to leave.

If he asked this question, the answer he'd get would likely be sothing like "You can leave when the master of the house lets you" or "You can leave if you kill so-and-so."

What interested him most were the bloody words on the wall. He wanted to know their origin, but judging by how the chef ignored the bloody words in the kitchen, this question would likely go unanswered.

"Haven't decided yet?" the chef's tone grew slightly impatient. "If you don't plan on asking, hurry up and get out. I need to give the kitchen a thorough cleaning."

"I have decided," Bai Mu replied. "I want to ask, which room is the master of the manor in?"

The chef paused. Bai Mu sensed that he was reluctant to answer, or perhaps the question was exceedingly difficult. However, he didn't refuse outright, which ant he knew the answer.

After a few seconds of silence, the chef's voice reached Bai Mu's ears.

"The current master is in the second-floor bedroom."

With that said, the chef began shooing him away.

"Alright, I've answered your question. You should leave now."

Bai Mu bowed slightly and walked out of the kitchen.

The broom and mop in the corner began to move on their own. The fire pit beneath the large cauldron instantly ignited, blazing so fiercely that the flas licked the ceiling. The broom swept the corpses on the floor into the fire one by one. Then, after Bai Mu stepped out, the door slamd shut, cutting off all sound from within. "Brother Bai, that was so impressive maneuvering," Great Northern Wilderness said, giving a thumbs up. "By the way, what effect did that bowl of at soup you drank have? Did it give you so powerful buff?"

"It gave two points in Agility and two points in Strength, and fully restored my Health along the way," Bai Mu said.

There was no point in hiding the at soup's effects. It was a consumable, and it was already in his stomach. Telling them would satisfy his teammates' curiosity. "Permanent additions?" Yan Yu asked.

Bai Mu nodded.

"Damn," Great Northern Wilderness said, looking slightly astonished. "The reward was that good? This effect is comparable to a top-tier rare item." He had initially thought it was a temporary buff, sothing that only lasted for this Script, but he never expected it to be a permanent effect.

That ant the rarity of this at soup was on a completely different level. If an item like this were placed in the shop, it would be worth at least around 1000 Points, roughly equivalent to the clear reward for a D-grade Script. If it were placed in the Player Trading Market, the price would only be higher.

Items that directly increased attributes usually commanded a premium of fifty to seventy percent. If it sold for 1000 Points in the shop, it would fetch over 1500 Points in the market. The bottle of bile Bai Mu had used also had great effects, but a single-use item and a permanent stat boost were entirely different concepts. Furthermore, Bai Mu had also obtained a piece of extra intel. He had truly gained quite a lot, making Great Northern Wilderness a little envious.

However, envy aside, Great Northern Wilderness knew he didn't have the ability to secure such a reward. If it were him, even if he had bile in his inventory, he probably wouldn't have thought to negotiate with an NPC.

"That reward really is fantastic," Yan Yu sighed in admiration. "But that final question you asked... do you want to go straight for the boss? Now that we know the location of the house's master, are you planning a speedrun?"

Bai Mu looked at the stairs leading to the second floor and shook his head.

"Let's take things one step at a ti. I reckon even if we went straight to the second-floor bedroom right now, with what we currently have on hand, we might not be able to defeat the current master of the house."

"Besides..." Bai Mu paused, glancing at the kitchen door.

"Besides what?" Yan Yu asked.

"Nothing." Bai Mu withdrew his gaze. "Let's move on to the next place."

Bai Mu took out the key he received from the chef and stood in front of the third door.

The key fit perfectly into the keyhole. He opened the third door, revealing what looked like a reception room. It was incredibly spacious. A classical piano stood by the wall, and next to it was a tea table surrounded by long, red-carpeted benches. Pastries and a teapot rested on the table.

Opposite the door was a burning fireplace, casting a warm, flickering glow.

Judging solely by the furniture and decor, it should have possessed a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. However, on the far wall deep inside the room, there was a series of bloody handprints.

Bloody words materialized once again: "Let the soulless husks rest in peace."

The wall bearing the bloody handprints suddenly rotated. As it flipped around, emaciated figures erged into the reception room. The reversed side of the wall was clean and tidy; when it locked into place with the other walls, it seamlessly completed the room's elegant decor. Yet, the mummified monsters that had appeared felt entirely out of place here.

"Zombies!" Great Northern Wilderness shouted after getting a clear look at the monsters. "The zombies in the Village of Mist looked exactly like this, though these feel a bit more emaciated."

The firelight illuminated the zombies' faces. They were nothing but skin and bones. Their skin looked as though it had been scorched dry by smoke and fire, taking on a sickly, sallow hue. They were dressed in a wide assortnt of clothing.

So wore luxurious garnts, so were clad in armor, and others wore only simple linen clothes, not even sporting shoes.

Judging by their attire, they seed to hail from a diverse variety of places in life.

"These must be the people murdered by the witch," Yan Yu said. "What should we do? Kill them?"

"Doesn't resting in peace an sending them to the afterlife?" Great Northern Wilderness drew his sword. "Be careful not to let the zombies scratch you, or you'll get poisoned. They're afraid of fire. We can burn them to death!"

Facing monsters he was already familiar with, Great Northern Wilderness appeared incredibly courageous.

From the opposite side of the room, a dense horde of zombies shuffled toward them. So of the female zombies were missing arms or legs, limping along awkwardly. The zombies reached out with their twig-like hands, emitting hoarse, raspy sounds as they sward outward. The scene looked sowhat reminiscent of Dave's backyard.

"Let the soulless husks rest in peace..." Bai Mu pondered the words on the wall. "Wait a mont. Don't attack them yet."

"But if we don't attack, they're going to bite us," Great Northern Wilderness pointed out.

"Let's clear the way first," Bai Mu said. "Perhaps they aren't coming for us."

"This..." Great Northern Wilderness hesitated slightly, but seeing Bai Mu's unchanging expression, he nodded anyway. "Alright, we'll listen to you, Brother Bai." Thus, under Bai Mu's lead, the five of them stepped aside, clearing the path to the main hall.

The zombies squeezed through the exit in a massive swarm. They didn't attack anyone. Instead, they staggered to the main entrance and relentlessly scratched at the heavy doors leading out of the Ancient Manor.
