Matthew stared at the vivid blue panel hovering like a holographic projection, its luminescent glow casting an otherworldly light across the room.
’What’s this, a prank? If so, how?’
Matthew’s eyes narrowed. He’d always prided himself on being logical and clear-minded, but not once did it occur to him that this might be real; he imdiately got up from the bed to lock his room’s door.
’I’m sure I locked the main door, or is it Mom and Lara? No, it can’t be them, they didn’t take their personal keys.’
He was utterly confused; the strange panel was still in front of him, following him around.
Sothing about this situation didn’t seem like a prank, but he refused to believe what he was seeing was reality, though sothing at the back of his mind linked this phenonon and his current situation to the dream he had last night.
anwhile, on the panel, the countdown continued
56%...57%...58%
’It’s still counting down, should I wait for it to get to 100%’
He tried waving at the panel in hopes of clearing it off, but his hands simply passed through it.
’I guess I have no choice but to wait, tch, I feel like a sitting duck waiting to be slaughtered’
97%...98%...99%...100%
100%.
Matthew stared at the panel showing a 100%, waiting for sothing to happen, anything.
He’d been standing for almost a minute, and nothing had occurred, his patience growing thinner.
’Is that it?’
His eyes narrowed.
’No, sothing’s different, I can sense it’
The air felt stagnant and stiff, as though the world was holding its breath in fear of angering a superior entity.
A certain premonition ca to his mind.
’It can’t be right?’
He hurried to check his mobile device, stared at the screen for more than a minute, and then he noticed.
’Ti has stopped’
He couldn’t believe it.
But he had no ti to grapple with reality, as what he’d been growing impatient for had finally arrived.
All of a sudden, everything went blank.
Matthew found himself in complete darkness, the kind of darkness that tugs at one’s consciousness and automatically evokes fear in the bravest of minds, yet he felt strangely comfortable, like he was where he was ant to be.
’What is this place? I feel cold and warm at the sa ti, yet so comfortable, how is that possible?
The hoy feeling of this new environnt had temporarily disbanded all of matthew’s worries concerning his current situation, he grappled with and fought the urge to sleep in such an unknown terrain yet he had this strange feeling that nothing could harm him here, and so he waited and waited, he couldn’t tell how long had passed, maybe a second or probably a millenia, ti felt so distorted and unstable, or maybe he’s mind could no longer register the passage of ti, he couldn’t tell, all he did was wait and wallow in this surreal environnt.
That’s when he saw it, a single ray of light intruding his dark world, the ray of light gradually got larger as though sunrise was imminent, all of a sudden he felt it, that push to go towards the light, he tried to resist that push, his body fighting to stay in this heavenly world of darkness, he had long since co to terms with the juxtaposition of this dark world, he didn’t want to part with it, yet the push felt impossible to oppose or fight.
’Maybe I’m finally going to heaven, huuu, if only I could stay longer’
Sothing at the back of his mind told him he wasn’t going to heaven; his mories of that strange panel further reinforced his speculations, yet he didn’t want to believe such a thing was possible.
As Matthew’s thoughts continued to run wild, a single phrase popped up in his mind as his body continued to move towards ’’THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL’’
For the first ti in a period of ti he couldn’t tell, he heard sounds.
’’Push milady, it’s almost here!’’
’’Uarrrrrrghhhhh!!!!’’ A muffled scream followed
He finally exited his dark world, what greeted him was the chill of the new environnt, he disliked this feeling, the difference between his comfortable dark world and this new one caused him to do sothing he hadn’t done in a long ti ’cry’, he couldn’t hold or oppose the urge to express his discomfort in the form of incoherent sounds and then he heard the sa voice again.
’’It’s a boy, milady, a boy!!’’
’’A boy, bring him, let hold him.’’ A lodious voice sounded, the voice felt weak and tired, evident in the child labor undergone.
Despite his ongoing discomfort, the curiosity to see the owner of such a heavenly voice caused him to pry open his eyes.
He opened his eyes to et a pair of golden orbs staring at him with such warmth and joy, despite the weariness evident in them, he could tell imdiately that he had a deep connection with this woman.
She possessed an ethereal beauty that captivated all who laid eyes upon her. Her hair, a cascade of flowing golden strands, shimred like sunlight, framing a face that radiated warmth and grace. Her bright golden eyes held a depth that seed to whisper secrets of a thousand stories.
Her features were perfectly proportioned, with high cheekbones that accentuated her flawless complexion. Her rosy lips curved into a captivating smile, revealing a row of pearly white teeth that glead with a joyful expression.
All of a sudden, he didn’t have the urge to cry anymore, the feeling of discomfort completely washed away by the peerless beauty of the woman in front of him.
’’It seems he has been captivated by your beauty, my lady, he’s no longer crying, it’s my first ti encountering such a situation.’’ The doctor said, completely bewildered by the child’s dramatic stop in crying.
’’Tanya, please wrap him in a blanket; he must be cold.’’ Despite the child’s washed-away tears, his mother didn’t fail to notice his discomfort.
"Oh, I’m so sorry, milady!!, I can’t believe I forgot such a thing." The doctor hurriedly wrapped him in a soft blanket, shielding him from the cold.
"It’s fine, Tanya, you must have been surprised by his strange behaviour. My son must be truly special," The woman smiled, showing her pearly white teeth.
Throughout this situation, Matthew refused to take his eyes off his acclaid mother; he had so many things on his mind concerning this scenario and everything that had occurred so far, but the woman’s smile had such a relaxing effect on his mind that he chose to leave the worries to his future self and enjoy this smile.
Before long, mother and son were separated in order to give both the ample rest they deserved. Matthew slept like the baby he was.
In a fortress thousands of miles away, a eting was taking place.
In a large room with a single opulent table running from one end of the room to another, the table was carefully crafted with details showing the masterful design of one of the world’s most creative minds, with several luxurious art pieces complenting it.
The room was intricately designed to house nobles of the highest caliber, with fine tapestries adorning every corner. Five individuals were seated at the table, dressed so elegantly as though celebrating the greatest event the world’s ever known. Each emanating the aura of bloodthirsty warriors, a heated debate was going on.
A young woman with blood red hair framing a face beautiful enough to put a goddess to sha, blood red eyes that can see into a person’s soul, and a figure that can bring out a man’s greatest desires was engaging a man with golden hair framing a face equally as breathtaking as the woman’s.
’’I will not stand around while watching a whole race go extinct due to the childish whims of an overgrown lizard,’’ The woman declared
’’Watch your mouth, woman, I will not tolerate disrespect, most especially from soone I deem an equal. The ghouls can no longer be declared a race; they dared to oppose us, and so they must face the consequences of their failure." The golden-haired man stood his ground.
’’What sort of consequence would elicit extinction? You are simply taking this too far, slavery would be a far better punishnt than cold-blooded murder.’’ The woman replied imdiately
"If you ask , I’d say your house simply wishes to retain rights to control them, the ghouls themselves push for extinction, they are a prideful set of creatures that would rather die than serve, and yet you wish to force them to serve, If we were to go down the path of enslaving them gods knows what sort abominations they might cause in human society." The man refused to let up.
"Your worries are unfounded, a slave contract would easily prevent any treacherous thoughts of theirs from becoming reality," The woman scoffed.
"Don’t tell you believe the slave contracts have no ans to be bypassed, I’m sure you are aware of the loopholes involved in drafting such contracts, or need I remind you of the incident eight years ago?" The man sneered.
The room suddenly got enveloped in thick, blood-curdling killing intent. The red-haired woman seed to have been seriously angered by the man’s statent.
Knock..knock...knock
A sudden knock was heard from the door of the hall
Erevan Chronos, a silver-haired man as handso as a statue sculpted by the gods themselves, a sharp jawline with deep silver eyes sharing the tales of untold battles, and an aura of seriousness few could compete with, finally opened his mouth to speak as he could sense who was behind the door
"Co in, Lyra," His voice bellowed
