Aselia’s POV

I felt relaxed after talking to Yurian, I knew he had my back if anything went wrong. Yurian was my partner for the last five years and loved teasing endlessly. But he was reliable and always supported no matter what the conditions or circumstances were. Together we put away countless vampires because that is what my organisation did.

Yurian and I belonged to the secret society called "The Avarance" and the sole purpose of our society was to capture the vampires and send them to the walled city of Valiois. The lesser these blood-sucking vermins, the safer our society will be. That was our motto and code. We were rigorously trained from a very young age and untrained vampires stood no chance against us. I have been part of this organisation for the past 15 years. I was 10 years old when I joined it, I am 25 now.

We had advanced weapons and access to specifically designed paralytic agents and drugs for the vampires. The training and weapons made it easier for us to hunt them down even the older and trained vampires.

Our society was created by humans and elves when vampires started carrying out genocide on the Elven race about 70 years ago. Gradually Elven Race began to dwindle and now very few of my people are still alive.

According to certain theories, rumours and sources a very powerful vampire was behind the plot to wipe out the Elven Race. Our blood is valued not only for its superior taste but also possesses certain other properties which only high-ranking vampires knew about. So they kidnapped as many elves as they could find, draining them of their blood and killing them in the process.

Recently we beca familiar with the na Xiran and according to intel we received, Xiran has connections with the vampire we seek. The Vampire who plotted to end my race. My mission is to find him because he is still hunting my kind. Little does my organisation know that I have my own vested interest in finding him and handing him over is not my plan.

So, I wanted to act as bait and was specifically chosen for this mission because of who I am. I had hoped Xiran will offer to him. But that plan doesn’t seem to work, as Xiran is not what I thought he will be. I have been trying to anger him and push all his buttons but he is as stubborn as I am.

I will need a different plan as the current one doesn’t seem to be working. Also, it’s becoming insanely hard to hate him as much as I hate his species. Feelings and emotions are not sothing we are taught on the contrary we are expected to never show them. I am considered soone who is void of these so I am swiftly able to carry out any kind of mission I am assigned. I don’t flinch when I have to get my hands dirty. My superiors have always praised for these qualities.

But am I really as heartless as I act? This mission will test all of my attributes and I don’t intend to fail.

Who was I though? Even my na was an alias, everything about was a lie except that I am an elf. If Xiran discovers the truth about , what will he do? Will he try to kill ? Or will I end his life? So many questions bombarded my brain as I lay on my bed thinking.

The door opened and Frila ca in: "Aselia, we are having a small party in the hall. Co join us."

"Party? But Xiran doesn’t let attend any parties." I replied a bit confused.

"Oh! it’s a closed party. Just Carios, , Treia and Maxile. No outsiders." She smiled calmly at .

"I don’t think that will be a good idea. Treia hates and I detest her." I sulked.

"Don’t worry about her while Carios and I are there." She smiled encouragingly at .

"Oh! I am not afraid of her, instead, I fear for her safety from ." This had Frila in fits of laughter. "Co on, now." And I got up covering my head with my hoodie.

Entering the hall I found Carios sipping wine, while Treia was sitting seductively on the sofa with her bare legs crossed, a wine glass in front of her. There was another girl with her, who I assud was Maxile. She was petite but very cute to look at with her curly blond hair, green eyes and round face, she looked like a doll.

Treia sneered at as I walked up to them and sat opposite her on purpose. "Why is she here?" She questioned Frila with an annoyed expression.

"To party, of course. She is one of us now." Frila tried to keep her voice calm with her.

"Is she the new girl master hired?" Maxile asked softly.

"Yes," Frila nodded.

"How can master choose soone so ill-mannered?" Treia didn’t even try to hide her disgust at .

"Sa way he chose you. I guess he has low taste when it cos to manners." I tried to vex her.

"How can she talk about Master like that?" Treia gritted her teeth while glancing over at Frila and Carios for support.

"If Sire doesn’t mind her behaviour, we are no one to interfere." Carios just shrugged his shoulders without even glancing at her as Frila slipped her arms around his neck and he placed his hand on her arm, acknowledging her presence.

Getting a shut-up call from Carios she just sat there sulking, her drink untouched. While Maxile extended her hand toward : "Hi, I am Maxile." She gave a warm smile. I shook her hand and introduced myself.

"Girls, let’s play darts." Frila invited us pointing to the dartboard on the wall. Maxile and I got up and went to her and she handed us three darts each.

Frila went first and two out of three hits were smack on target. Maxile was next but she couldn’t even hit a single target. It was my turn, so I rolled up my sleeves and bang, bang and bang. All three darts hit the bull’s eye.

"Woah, Aselia you are a perfect shot," Frila exclaid. "Yes, I used to love playing darts growing up. I have a good aim."

"Let’s see, if you can do better than ." Carios got up after finishing his drink.

"Are you challenging ?" I smirked.

"Yes," he raised his eyebrows at .

"Challenge accepted," as he took the darts from Frila and cleanly hit the targets, making Frila clap.

"Not bad at all. My turn," and all my hits were on target as well. We continued for a while when finally Carios missed one and I was declared the winner. He blad the wine for his missed shot while I reprimanded him for making la excuses. I had fun and my mind got distracted from all the thinking I had been doing all day long.

Madam Marci had sent so snacks for us including chicken shots, egg rolls, and nuggets. We sat down to eat them. Treia was still sulking and refused to eat, while I ate as if my life depended on it. I loved eating, cooking, not so much.

"You eat like a pig," Treia snorted at with a disgusted look on her face. Before I could answer her, we heard soone shout: "Treia," and all the colour drained from her face.
