~ I’m planning to increase the number of advanced Chapters to 50 this weekend!

~ I’ve edited so of the previous Chapters to remove anything you might consider "cringe" or "unnecessary." I’ll continue reviewing them from ti to ti!

~ Very soon, we’ll return to releasing two Chapters daily, including bonus privileges for Power Stone contributions

At six o’clock at night three days previously, a figure wearing black had entered the base via the main entrance, had drawn a knife that had a wavy blade similar to one edge of his [Rapscallion Wave Blade], and had proceeded to hunt down and kill every person in the base that he could get at. Three Flints had fled from the base while he was occupied with the scientists in the lab, while the other seven had retreated into the Purification Room along with the Head Scientist, Rokka Nia. Then the black-clad man had drawn an ordinary dagger and made his way to the back entrance, where Seto Tetsuo shortly ran to, eting his fate there.

Then the man in black simply sauntered out of the base with nothing resembling care for what he had just done, dodging the freshly risen zombies with an ease that Issei knew that he couldn’t match himself. The movents were sharp, precise and wasted no movent whatsoever. He hadn’t moved quickly; he had seen the zombies, predicted their movents and then moved just in ti to avoid them.

Absolute economy of movent, sothing Issei had only seen in the ani and manga Rurōni Kenshin...just who was this guy...?

Setting that aside, Issei took a copy of the surveillance footage. If the Devils had any knowledge about this thing, he’d need it.

After that, Issei basically ransacked the small security station for everything he could stuff into his inventory; bulletproof vests, riot helts, stun guns, truncheons and Tasers. Hey, never leave an enemy stronghold standing and never leave weapons for the enemy to collect later. Although the Sekiryūtei doubted that the collection of gear he had stolen would do more than very mildly inconvenience the Purifiers, every little bit helps.

"Now then...back to zombie killing..." Issei sighed. Not only were zombies an awkward target to kill because of their origins as humans, they stunk to the high heavens as well. It was only because he was used to bad slls from the Ratman Breeder’s Burrow that he hadn’t thrown up already.

There were four labs in Project Rat Poison, each one twice the size of a high school classroom. Each was filled with complicated science stuff that Issei had no clue about. And each had five zombies in them. Issei thodically went through each one, shooting the zombies and gathering notes from their research and developnt. He also disposed of any actual poisons via the biological waste disposal chutes that, according to one flyer, led down to a furnace. No way was he leaving anything for the Purifiers to use if/when they ca to investigate this place.

Just as he dealt with the last zombie, the door leading down to the Purification Room slamd open and eight people erged. Seven of them were dressed in white uniforms with slate-grey caps on their heads. Obviously the Flints. The other one was an angry woman who was very attractive, albeit flat-chested to the point that Sona Sitri was bigger than she was, and had a furious expression on her face.

"YOU! What the hell have you done to my research?!" she shouted.

"Head Scientist Rokka Nia, I presu?" Issei drawled. "Isn’t it obvious? I’ve been laying your forr co-workers to rest and destroying all of your poison. Also, I’ve killed all the ratn in the burrows, so your project is no longer needed."

"You...!" the woman seethed. "Take him into custody! Be as rough as you like!"

Responding to her orders, the Flints drew their truncheons and started to advance on Issei.

Looking at the gun in his hand, Issei decided that it was overkill for who he was facing.

Purifier Flint LV16

[Footsoldier of the Pure]

Rokka Nia LV17

[Head Scientist of Project Rat Poison]

While they had levels just one below his, a casual use of [Observe] on them revealed that their physical stats were little more than a quarter of his own at best. Nia’s stats were pure garbage, except for her ntal ones, ten or so higher than his own. They had about as much chance at beating him as he stood against the two Devil Heiresses, unless they had an exceptional run of good luck. With a smirk hidden by his npō, Issei tossed the gun to one side.

"Giving up?" Rokka sneered as the SIG clattered onto a table.

"No. Just changing to sothing that suits the level of combatants I am facing." the armoured boy stated as he reached into his inventory and pulled out a pair of truncheons of his own.

[Side Handle Truncheon]

A mass-produced baton made of solid oak, with an added handle on the side of it. Used by law enforcent and private security as the close combat weapon of choice for hundreds of years, the design is tried and tested. Anyone on the receiving end of this weapon will feel the pain.

Durability: 50/50

- Deals S 15 Bludgeoning Damage.

While not exactly as good as, say, his [Bloodtal Gladius], they were good enough to deal with these idiots. Holding one in each hand, Issei rolled one shoulder, then the other, before saying two words as he looked at the surprised Flints.

"Bring it."

Rokka Nia’s Perspective

It was one-sided beat down, just not in the way Nia had been expecting.

Roka Nia gaped as the red-armoured figure, who was almost certainly one of those supernatural freaks, waded into combat with the Flints who had taken refuge in the Purification Room with her for the last three days.
