When silence was finally made in the lecture hall, Jon Hunter stepped forward and assud the leadership role. He asked everyone to take a seat according to their alignnt but, sohow, Uriel ended up sitting in between dusa and Tina.

"Is that jerk really your uncle?" Uriel asked.

"No, he's just a friend of the family I've known for a long ti." dusa replied shaking her head and Uriel felt relieved by this. Even though he wasn't expecting to kill Jon anyti soon, he felt sothing inside of him, almost like a voice telling him that he couldn't possibly forgive him.

"Where is Sam?" Uriel asked in a hushed voice.

"He said he was going to look out for Luna, but if he doesn't find her soon he'll just co here."

The place was starting to get crowded as people from the Mapple corp. and the army kept arriving at the scene. Things were moving fast, but at least Uriel knew they wouldn't be able to actually enter the dungeon without the relic he had in his possession which should give him the ability to stall the eting for however long he wanted, or that was what he thought until Jon started speaking.

"The reason why we're here is because we're running out of ti. If we don't open the dungeon soon, we might be unable to do it for who knows how long." Although dungeons were supposed to remain a secret, everyone in the room was in the know about them and it was safe to discuss the plan, though Jon wasn't aware of that fact and he was simply being careless.

"The reason for this is the presence of a horror level cryptid in the lost city."

"No way! It's a beginner hunting zone, sothing like that is impossible!" One of the soldiers exclaid as he slamd the desk in front of him.

"As you all know, cryptids are lured by energy signatures. Well, that isn't the case for all of them. Apparently, this particular cryptid is the guardian of the dungeon. I faced it and won, but that thing can't be destroyed and I was forced to retreat."

"You can't possibly expect us to believe you fought against a horror level cryptid and survived, let alone won the fight." Ethan scoffed at Jon.

"It's the truth, he's a holy rank hunter and I witnessed part of the fight." Seiren said loudly enough for everyone to hear and the atmosphere in the room beca dense again. It was the first ti any of them t a holy rank hunter. Uriel too was discombobulated, though for an entirely different reason.

Learning that Jon was at was considered the peak of humanity made his dream of exacting revenge on him impossible and he was left dejected.

"The cryptid itself isn't that dangerous. It remained completely still until I tried to grab the tomahawk. It looks like a statue so I guess it makes sense, the problem was that when I tried attacking it, the other statues defended it."

"There was only one other statue when I was there." Uriel pointed out.

"Uri, don't interrupt Mister Jon. You need to respect him, he's a holy rank hunter and you're only an ascended." Tina said in the sa cute scolding voice she used when they were boyfriend and girlfriend.

"Like I would respect a creep like that." Uriel scoffed.

"Oh really? If I rember correctly, last ti we saw each other you begged for my autograph," Jon winked at him. "Anyway, the reason why there are more statues now is because whenever the horror level cryptid kills soone, that person is turned into an entity level statue. When those kill a person, they beco a monster rank statue. It was really troubleso to deal with it."

When Seiren heard Jon's explanation her brows began twitching and her face paled. The reason for this was that she saw how 'troubleso' it was. Many Mapple corporation employees from the combat division fell that day and Jon imdiately destroyed them once they beca statues, but no matter how many tis he did it, they would repair themselves and keep fighting causing even more deaths.

"I don't see the issue here. Even if there's a horror cryptid blocking our way, we can always bait it out." Ethan proposed doing exactly what he did to acquire the tribal wear. This ti it was Tina's turn to beco pale as she rembered the army report.

Just like the other two relics, it was being guarded by a strong cryptid but instead of facing it, Ethan sent a group of people to keep it occupied, then grabbed the relic and ran away causing many casualties. Not just that, he also abandoned those who were too hurt to move just because it was more convenient.

"You may not see it now, but it takes a look at the lost city to know what I'm talking about. The more people we send, the more dangerous the mission becos and it will also make entering the dungeon more difficult. This ans that we need to send a small group of people, but also that we need to do it fast because those statues aren't the only cryptids that worry ."

"What do you an?"

"Cryptids are gathering massively at the lost city and for so unknown reason, they're cooperating between them. Usually, certain cryptids would feed upon the weaker ones but that isn't the case anymore." Seiren handed Jon a tablet so he could project the pictures for everyone, but apparently he couldn't operate it even at a basic level and she had to do it for him.

"How is this possible? I thought cryptids can't be photographed!" Pangiotis exclaid.

"Those are just regular statues for reference. This cryptids look just like regular sculptures and there's no way to tell them apart. They seem to be made of either volcanic stone or marble, but don't pay much attention to it as they can shift in between them at will."

The next pictures were of regular people, so standing right next to an identical twin and this ti Seiren explained. "The next type of cryptid is the shapeshifters."

"They're called skinwalkers." Uriel butted in.

"You know, I've been patient enough but you shouldn't even be here. Go outside and wait for orders."

"Orders? Who do you think you are to give orders to my employee?" Nika stepped in the lecture hall wearing a black leather jacket.

"? I'm no one, just a colonel in the army, a heavenly rank hunter and a mber of the Jacobs family." Ethan grinned.

"I don't care about what backwater family you co from, I don't care about any of that actually. You can't boss him around without my permission." Nika's words caused Uriel to twitch in anger. Even though he understood why she claid he was her employee, it still irked him. Experience more content on My Virtual Library Empire
