Chapter 48: First Raid: An Acquaintance
Civil City, Youth Guild
Woongggg.
The void trembled, the silhouette of a gate slowly appeared, floating several ters in the air.
Shingggg.
The gate glowed in white light, a hint of purple flashed before disappearing.
"Huh? A gate?" The hunters in front of the guild imdiately noticed the strange sensations in the air and the white gate caught their eyes.
Shaaa....
The closed white gate slowly opened, the darkness inside was like a beast’s jaw with no ends in sight.
The hunters looked at each other and imdiately reported to the guild.
"Vice leader, where’s the guild leader? A gate appeared in front of our guild."
"What’s the rank?"
"Pure white, F-rank."
"The guild leader isn’t here, but his brother is. You know he wants to go to dungeons to officially awaken..."
"Go find that young master, send four hunters to accompany him."
"Alright, vice leader."
The hunter imdiately went to find the young master and a young man with white-red hair imdiately rushed out of the guild, his body adorned with weapons and jeweleries from head to toe.
"There’s an instant dungeon?? Quick, quick, I wanna see!"
"Calm down, young master. You will go with four other hunters. Please take care."
"Tsk. I might not be an awakener yet, but an F-rank dungeon won’t be a threat."
Unless it was a gate that was about to beco an E-rank— but that kind of gate was extrely rare.
The young man waited anxiously for four hunters to co out of the guild before he strode to the floating gate, his face confident.
"Let’s go! Let’s see what kind of instant dungeon this one is!"
The other four hunters exchanged looks and scoffed.
A brat who doesn’t understand the world.
The five people, all ard with casual weapons and items, entered the gate’s range and their figure instantly disappeared.
The hunters outside waited for the gate to close but a few seconds passed by....their faces slowly changed.
"Why isn’t the gate....closing?"
Sothing is wrong.
At the sa ti, Lucien sensed a new presence at the entrance of the sli dungeon and the system popped up.
DING! [The raid has started!]
[00:60:00]
Lucien’s purple pupils slowly turned slightly blue as his vision swept over the newcors.
Five hunters.
Standard F-rank dungeon’s raid team.
Lucien’s eyes focused on each person’s faces and then...
His cold face almost cracked.
Isn’t that— his ex tenant??
Lucien’s inner soul grew devil horns and outside, a hint of blue seeped into his purple eyes.
Heh. It’s fate.
The blue slowly dyed half of Lucien’s eyes, glowing in the dark, just like the sli’s glow.
Little bastard—
Lucien tugged the corner of his lips, his eyes cold.
Enjoy the show.
The ex-tenant felt a chill down his spine and sneezed.
"It’s so cold! Is this a cold-type dungeon? The monsters here are usually disgusting."
The ex tenant grumbled, he looked around like a curious child with not even a single ounce of vigilance.
The four other hunters silently clicked their tongues.
One of them, a big guy holding a shield and a sword, dragged his body forward and spoke in a cold voice,
"Young master, it’s too dangerous. Stay behind us."
"Okay, okay! Let’s go!"
The young master walked at the center with the other four hunters circling him, guarding him tightly.
As they stepped further, the ground beca slippery.
The young master almost tripped several tis.
The visibility beca worse, only faint blue glows remained.
In a place they couldn’t see, the wall throbbed slightly, as if...breathing.
Skrrrkk...
The path slowly narrowed, the cave’s wall slowly getting close to the hunters’ bodies.
The burly guy keenly sensed the change.
"Did the wall move?"
He has never heard of an F-rank dungeon with a moving wall.
Swish. Swish. Swish.
Behind the wall, at the ceiling, at the blind spot, at the corners, countless blue figures moved silently, only leaving a faint sound.
Sizzle.
The burly guy slowed down.
His keen hearing caught the subtle sound, his eyes imdiately scanned the surroundings warily.
"Be careful! The monsters are already here!"
The young master imdiately stiffened, his eyes darting around anxiously.
"Huh? Where? I didn’t see anything— "
Swish!
A viscous liquid shot down from the ceiling, going straight at the young master’s head.
"Young master!"
The monkey-like guy in the team imdiately pulled the young master’s hand.
Swish!
The liquid whizzed past and fell to the ground, just an inch away from the young master’s body.
Sizzle.
The ground lted slightly and the sll of burnt wafted.
!
"S-sli! It must be sli!" The ex tenant shrieked, the mory of that day ca back.
The Gate Break. The giant slis, and...
The psycho landlord.
"Ahh! Go back! Go back! I want to go back!"
The young master almost fainted on the spot, his scream echoing throughout the narrow road.
The burly guy’s temple twitched.
"Don’t shout! You’re attracting them— "
But it was too late.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Countless blue figures flew out of their hiding places and sward towards the hunters, corrosive saliva scattered everywhere.
"Glurrggg!"
Kill the intruders!
Kill!
Sizzle!
"Oh, fuck!" The burly man imdiately swung his shield, blocking the rain of saliva for his teammates behind him.
"Everyone! Stay behind !" The burly guy pushed through the saliva rain as he swung the short sword in his other hand.
Slash!
The sword cut through the nearby sli but the sli imdiately jumped back, dodging the sword just a breath away.
The burly guy’s sword trembled.
That sli moved fast.
Way too fast.
Swish!
In the dark, the sli imdiately retreated without a trace.
Then, another batch of slis pounced, their moves in sync, as if...
Soone was controlling them.
"Damn it."
Sothing is not right.
The burly guy’s feet halted.
It’s too early to use skills right after entering, but—
No choice!
"Feya, light orb!"
The bulky guy barked and the only woman in the team imdiately chanted, activating her skill,
"Light orb!"
Energy poured from the woman, slowly forming an orb.
Invisible to the naked eye, a strand of energy peeled from the orb, vanishing into the void.
Lucien in the throne room felt a warm energy pouring in and the system chid.
DING! [Main dungeon energy reserve: 3.5%]
Lucien’s inner soul slapped his thigh and grinned.
It really works!
Okay, hunters, give all your skills!
Shinnggggg
The woman ford a light orb out of thin air and the bright light illuminated several ters around the hunters.
The previously dark cave instantly brightened, the hidden slis were exposed without a place to hide.
Seeing the slis, the monkey-like young man in the team swung his spear, the tip moved so fast that it blurred.
Stab!
The spear pierced through a nearby sli and the sli didn’t even have ti to scream before it fell limp, the corpse hanging on the spear.
"Tsk! Just a asly sli. If it’s not dark around, we won’t be ambushed."
The monkey-like young man swatted away the corpse, flinging the body far away.
At the sa ti, the burly man moved.
Swish!
His sword cut through a sli and the sli dodged fast, but this ti without the darkness as a cover—
Slash!
The sword cut the sli into two, the sli’s tiny core instantly clattered to the ground.
"Oh, this one had a core, lucky!"
Another team mber, a youth holding a bow, shot several arrows into the air.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
The arrows cut through the air, piercing several slis’ bodies at once.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The slis fell before they could even spit out saliva.
DING! [-10 slis]
[Number of slis: 490]
Stung.
Each ti a sli died, Lucien felt a sharp prickle at his heart.
It was as if a small part of him disappeared.
The slis are too weak.
Lucien tapped his armchair, his inner soul pacing around anxiously.
The hunters haven’t even used other skills, just their weapons.
Lucien’s finger hooked the air.
The first test is enough.
Grrrkk.
The walls moved, the ground trembled.
The real deal is here.
