Chapter 35: Toxin Countdown: [02:00]

"O-okay, sir! Roger!" The mayor imdiately scrambled to contact the city guards.

"Close the gate! Don’t let anyone out!"

The soldiers at the entry gate imdiately sward out of their post stations, each person carrying a magic gun.

Drap. Drap. Drap.

"Shields! Go to the front!"

Another group of soldiers brought silver shields as tall as their chin and imdiately stood still at the very front of the crowd, forming a line of silver.

Onous’ n and Brother Yong also posted a notice on the group chats, Grindhall City’s forums and many other social dia.

DING.

Every awakener and hunter’s phones imdiately chid and a red, urgent news pushed through.

[Wanted Notice]

[Bounty: XXXXX]

[Urgent Mission: Go to the entry gate and guard it. Don’t let anyone pass through]

[Mission fee: XXX]

The hunters walking down the street, awakeners just casually hanging out with friends, all stopped in place for a split second, their eyes green with envy.

"Damn, that’s a lot!"

"Who offended the Poison Ring Guild? Courting death."

"Let’s go, let’s go! What if the others get it ahead of us??"

From above, hunters and awakeners sward into the entry gate from all directions.

The soldiers imdiately arranged the newly-arrived awakeners.

"Wall! We need a wall-type ability— "

"Long range attackers! Co here!"

As more and more people gathered at the entry gate, the soldier’s captain imdiately barked at the walkie talkie, his voice reaching the patrol guards all over the city.

"Patrol guards! Sweep the street! We have three targets— two humans and one monster."

"The targets are invisible!"

"Take out the hounds!"

"Roger, sir!"

The patrol guards in threes and five imdiately spread out, bringing the familiar long-snout tentacle hounds with them.

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

After the patrol guards were out, the soldier’s captain imdiately sent a batch of UFO scanners.

Wong. Wong. Wong.

Countless UFO-like scanners flew through the air, spreading throughout the city, red lasers shot down, forming a glaring crimson net.

Flying cars subconsciously braked and slowly landed.

Ordinary land cars stopped on their tracks.

"What’s going on? Are there criminals?"

The confused ordinary people stayed in the cars, not daring to step out.

Soon, the patrol guards arrived at every big street’s junction and red lights.

"Stop! Don’t move!"

They imdiately stopped the cars, knocked on the windows and checked the passengers’ faces.

"Negative! Next!"

The other patrol guards checked the alleys and entered buildings, not letting go of every crook and nook.

Ordinary people, sensing the tense atmosphere, imdiately reacted.

Those still outside ran to the buildings.

Those inside the buildings closed every window and door.

Even tourists rushed back to their hotels, trembling with confusion.

Outside, so awakeners with tracking abilities ran through the street.

Others jumped from one rooftop to another, their figures disappearing and appearing like a ghost.

"I sensed the energy of a monster! Over there!"

"My heat detection sensed three moving sources of heat around that spot. Check it out!"

[Toxin countdown: 08:00]

While the entire city ca alive, Lucien was heading towards the entry gate, his face dark.

There’s not enough ti to go back to the black market to pick up the materials.

Ugh. No matter. As long as this bastard is here— the materials won’t go anywhere.

Lucien’s inner soul grew devil horns and a tail, swaying wickedly.

Lurenzo shuddered for no reason and imdiately gripped the back of the motorcycle tight, his hair thrashing wildly.

"Myyyy lordddd— whereee are we goinggg nowww??"

"Go ho. We are leaving the city."

Lucien resolutely headed towards the previous entry gate but then, red lights fell from the sky, quickly scanning through the air, just an inch away from touching his body.

!

The UFO scanners!

Lucien’s b*tt almost jerked in shock but his hands imdiately tilted the motorcycle, dodging the red light just a breath away.

Brooom!

Lucien imdiately rode away, his shirt stuck to his back.

Huff. Huff. That was close!

But why are the scanners here?

Don’t tell him...

Murmur. Murmur.

From the distance, Lucien could already see a mass of people crowding the entry gate and an ominous feeling crept in.

They aren’t here to block him, right?

Right??

"Luren. Is there another exit here— "

"Nooo, my lord! That’s...the only one...!"

To protect against monsters, only one gate was opened in the barrier for humans to co in and out.

"Tsk." Lucien gripped the handle of the motorcycle tightly, his body trembled.

His vision blurred, every image doubled.

[Toxin countdown: 05:00]

No...there’s not enough ti!

He had to forcefully break through.

Now!

"Luren...hang on...tight!"

Lucien shoved Mumu onto Lurenzo’s arms and Lurenzo almost fell off the motorcycle.

"W-what? Whaaaattt— "

VROOOM!

Lucien randomly pressed the buttons on the motorcycle’s screen and the bike imdiately shot through the air, speeding up until Lurenzo’s face was flattened by the wind.

"Ahhhhh!"

"Shut...up!"

As Lucien whizzed through the streets, the awakeners on rooftops imdiately caught his presence and they shouted to their phones.

"We found them! We found them!"

"They’re heading towards the entry gate!"

"They must want to break through with force!"

The soldiers, hunters and awakeners at the entry gate imdiately got the news and they scrambled to get into positions.

"Thinking they can go through so easily? How arrogant!"

Lucien could already see the gleaming silver shields under the light and he imdiately raised the motorcycle’s altitude to two ters.

The soldier’s captain got the news that Lucien rode a floating motorcycle and imdiately ordered,

"Long-range attackers! Just shoot the air randomly!"

"Soldiers! Use the guns!"

With so many attacks, even a blind shot would definitely hit!

[Skill duration: 02:00]

Lucien’s body already felt numb, his fingers almost couldn’t grip the handle but he increased the speed to the maximum.

Swish!

The invisible motorcycle and the three riders shot through the air like a teor, the wind so strong that the surrounding awakeners imdiately noticed.

"Over there!"

"Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!"

Long-range awakeners and hunters imdiately activated their skills.

Shingggg!

Soldiers triggered their guns.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Countless colorful magic attacks from arrows to bullets bombarded the air around the gate.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Boom!
