Chapter 27: Test The Staff

Lucien almost couldn’t feel his arms but he pushed through, throwing his feet onto the web and climbed up in one go.

At the sa ti, Luren had just pushed away the spider that wanted to pounce on him but the spider imdiately crawled away, disappearing into the dark.

It retreated cleanly and when it stopped, its eight green eyes patiently fixed onto the two people in the dark, following every move.

Countless other green eyes hid in the dark, their gazes concealed, with almost no murderous intent.

"Hu...hu...my lord! You’re okay! Thank God! I thought— " you’re done for!

Seeing Lucien standing limply on the white spider web, Luren patted his chest exaggeratedly but his face distorted inside.

’Why did the spider still attack ?!’

’I clearly sared a monster repellant powder, enough for a re F-rank spider!’

Is it because the spiders here are stronger, or is it...

Lucien, the source of Luren’s trouble, wiped his forehead with trembling hands as he spoke in a cold voice.

"Continue. Walk forward."

"Oh, okay..." Luren gripped the staff tight and used it as a probing cane as he acted like Lucien’s pathfinder.

What Luren didn’t see was that, Lucien’s face slowly paled behind him and a red panel that no one could see popped up.

Bzzzt! [Warning! Warning! You have been poisoned by a neurotoxin!]

[Your body will slowly lose all feelings and you can’t control your body as you wished!]

[Countdown until a complete body paralyzes: 30:00]

Thirty minutes.

He didn’t have an antidote.

That was a mistake.

The only way to cure the toxin— is to clear the dungeon and imdiately return ho.

Lucien sucked in the cold air as he tried to move his feet— but his feet didn’t move.

It only moved a beat later, lagging by a split second.

A split second didn’t sound much, but in a dungeon...

It was the distance between life and death.

Lucien’s legs trembled, but he kept his calm, acting as if he walked slowly out of caution, so much so that even the audience with a bird-like view didn’t see anything wrong.

[Fck! Fck! Fck! I hate spiders!]

[The spiders are known to be a great assassin-type hunter. Coming to the spider dungeon with just two people— ]

[Suicide!]

Lucien didn’t see the comnts and only felt a faint throb on his neck.

Sniffing a faint sll of blood, Lucien noticed that his wound had stopped bleeding and the broken skin was slowly growing back.

The

10% regeneration buff is working, but...

It’s too eye-catching.

Catching a glimpse of Mumu, the "healer sli" image he painstakingly built—

Lucien whispered to Mumu, his body tense.

"Mumu, pretend to cover my neck and hum. After that, you lay limply on my shoulders, got it?"

"Mu...mu?"

Mumu doesn’t understand, but if uncle said so, Mumu will do it! Just don’t abandon Mumu! QAQ

Mumu did exactly as Lucien said and Luren, who was supposed to be a pathfinder, peeked over his shoulders from ti to ti, his eyes glued to the glowing blue blob on Lucien’s shoulder.

So that’s the healing creature the young master said?

A healing sli...

It’s rarer than any other healing-attribute monster.

After Mumu covered Lucien’s wound, moved away and slumped down as if he had used a great deal of energy, the wound on Lucien’s neck had completely scabbed.

!

Luren’s eyes widened, his breath quickened.

It wasn’t a large wound to deal with, but this ans the sli was indeed a healer-type monster!

It was still a cub, docile and full of potential!

If he could get a hand on it—

"Luren."

Lucien’s eyes swept over the faint greed on Luren’s face and he snorted.

"Watch the road. I can feel many more creatures lurking around."

Tak. Tak. Tak.

The spiders shuttled on the giant spider web, each more cautious than the other.

"O-okay, my lord." Luren imdiately whipped his head around, a cold sweat slid down his temple.

Damn it. That bastard is so sharp.

But what about the spiders, isn’t he safe— no, he’s not safe anymore.

For an unknown reason, the spider still attacked him too!

Luren gulped, his legs trembled slightly as he guided Lucien through the spider web.

[25:00]

As the countdown ticked, Lucien’s body beca heavier and heavier.

His legs were now lagging behind his thoughts by a few seconds.

The lag widened.

The keen spiders lurking in the dark noticed that one human’s state, the one that lured them to wait at the entrance.

Without hesitation, the spiders crept closer, so crawled on the web above Lucien’s head while others actually crawled on the web under Lucien’s feet!

Lucien’s coward— animal instinct stabbed his mind, his hair stood up stiffly.

Damn it. All of you are eyeing

because I’m the weakest??

Or because of the Land Affinity’s buff??

The faint aura that Lucien lost after he stumbled and fell slowly twisted.

As Lucien’s face turned cold, the temperature around him plumted.

His purple aura slowly surged, like a fire burning the wood.

Luren, who was the closest to Lucien, almost took the wrong step.

Fck. Why did the lord’s aura suddenly beco strong?

Is he angry? Is he going to kill —

The livestream audience couldn’t feel the aura but just looking at Lucien’s calm steps and poker face, a hint of awe rose in their hearts.

[That guy just fell and almost died, but he acted as if nothing happened! Salute, hero!]

[Mom! So cool! Ahhh!]

Witnessed by countless virtual audiences, Lucien’s dignity score soared, and so did his aura.

The thick purple aura ford a pair of athyst eyes in the void and the mont the eyes snapped open—

The cold, still gaze swept over the spiders’ hiding place, leaving not a single one behind.

Tak.

The spiders stiffened.

The prey’s weak aura suddenly strengthened way above their level!

Attack? Or not?

As the spiders hesitated, Lucien glanced up at the crowd of black shadows above his head and slowly opened his palm towards Luren, his palm trembling.

"The staff."

"Huh? What— "

"Let’s test it now."

It’s a mana-explosion staff, right? Heh. Blew those spiders to pieces!

Luren hurriedly handed over the staff, but his fingers gripping the staff were as cold as ice.

Lucien took the staff and asked nonchalantly.

"Explain...how to use it."

Lucien’s lips quivered, his tongue numb, but he just slowed down his speech, sounding even more authoritative than before.

"Uh, yes! You just need to inject it with your energy and point it towards the place you want to target..."

Luren hurriedly explained, his eyes darting everywhere except for the staff.

"And then there will be a small explosion ford by mana!"

"Good."

Lucien slowly injected his energy a.k.a mana into the staff and the staff imdiately glowed in a faint golden light.

Lucien slowly and stiffly pointed the staff’s jewel edge at the ceiling, and then...

Nothing happened.

Lucien’s heart dropped to his stomach and his face almost twisted like a demon.

Lu! Ren!!

You fcker—

Lucien tried to point out the staff again, but still...

Nothing happened.

Either the staff is broken, or...

It’s fake.
