When they stepped out, they were greeted by a chaotic scene all around.
"Damn demon beast race! They just had to pick the worst timing!" Nayr’s voice echoed, growing louder. "Everyone, listen to my orders! Abandon the outer defense line and fall back to the inner ring! Shrink the battle lines and focus on defense!"
"Who are they?" Ruri asked Hibria, who stood beside her.
"Another one of our enemies. The demon beast race is attacking us too. They must’ve heard about our recent clash with the demons and are taking advantage, thinking we’re still recovering... The situation’s not good," Hibria explained, clearly irritated.
In the distance, the air split, revealing two massive winged figures erging in the sky. Hibria assud her true form, her heads roaring as they unleashed fiery breath.
But... they had just co out of a desperate battle. Everyone’s bloodline powers were severely weakened, and without Qi or cultivation in this place, they were now in a dire, seemingly irreversible situation.
"We’ll handle the main force of the demon beasts. We can’t command the weaker ones. Forgive ... we may not have the strength to protect you. If you run now, there’s still ti, and it would be a wise choice. But if you stay, you’ll be a great help to us; just make sure you stay safe," Nayr quickly said to the pair.
"We’ll be fine. Do what you have to do. If there’s an opening, we’ll do our best to help," the golem replied calmly.
Nayr nodded, surprised by his composure. With a fierce cry, he charged straight toward the strongest opponents. As he advanced, the mightiest enemies in the opposing army launched their counterattack.
Following his orders, the massive army of draconic beasts retreated, adjusting their positions to form a defensive ring. anwhile, a sea of mutant demon beasts — of various forms and sizes, almost like chiras — surged forward, attempting to break through the defenses.
The pair stayed back, watching as the draconic beasts gave their all despite their exhaustion. They wouldn’t last long, but under extre danger, their mutations and powers were pushed to their limits, becoming refined.
They were clearly marching toward death, yet they fought without fear or hesitation, with no thought of retreat or escape.
"They’re not smart enough to use their abilities properly, but in this situation, if they survive, they’ll learn to control their powers better," Ruri murmured beside the whale.
Bruno comnted softly, "True. If Hibria hadn’t united them, they’d all be facing imnse danger alone. Most of them would die, but the survivors would reach Nayr’s level. Her actions might not have been the most rational... and I’m sure she knows that, especially since she lost all her allies in the last trial due to lack of strength. Even so, she chose to act this way because it would save many lives."
"Heh, Hibria and Nayr believed Heaven’s Will would help them, that their acts of saving and supporting others would make a difference, and a miracle would happen. Naïve, really... but Master did co, didn’t he? Wherever Master goes, miracles happen. All it takes is Master’s will, and their lives will change forever, right?" Ruri said with a cheerful smile as she watched them.
Alm and Bruno sighed. She really believed that. But it was another clear manipulation of Heaven’s Will. Well... they needed to blend in and avoid drawing too much attention to infiltrate. They could help a bit.
"Brothers, don’t panic! We’ll help you!"
At that mont, two draconic beasts resembling wyverns but with strangely furry bodies charged forward. They imdiately attacked a winged, horned monkey that had breached the defensive ring and was advancing toward the pair.
"Is Master panicking?!" Ruri murmured, laughing softly. However, the imdiate assistance they received showed that those draconic beasts already considered them allies, which moved Ruri deeply.
They attacked the enemy, but the two wyverns quickly began roaring and spitting blood. They didn’t retreat, using their bodies to block the passage. After a brief clash, they were being overpowered by that single demon beast.
Suddenly...
"OOH!" A sorrowful and pained howl echoed through the air.
The two wyverns turned, shocked. An almost imperceptible streak of light cut through the sky, striking the enemy. Quickly, the two dug their claws into the target and finished it off. After trembling a few tis, the creature collapsed to the ground, dead.
"Is it dead?"
After taking down the powerful enemy, the two looked at their own claws and the monkey in disbelief.
"Look at its... butt!" one of them shouted, pointing. "Heavens!"
They noticed a massive, black arrow lodged with perfect precision in that secret spot. They quickly looked at the golem and the dragoness.
Ruri smiled, while the golem held a bow, waving at them. The bow had been found on the battlefield, abandoned by soone who’d died, and the arrow was made from tal they’d recently obtained. Combined with Ruri’s ntal power, the arrow beca nearly undetectable, an unmatched weapon.
"Was it you guys?" one of them asked, though the answer was obvious. Ruri laughed at their foolishness but nodded in confirmation.
The golem gestured calmly: "Keep distracting the demon beasts. Let’s work together. You run, and we’ll handle the attacks."
"Got it!"
Excited, the two dashed off. At the sa ti, Ruri climbed onto the golem’s back with a grin, and they moved close to the ground.
Quickly, another tallic arrow infused with ntal power was fired, piercing precisely where it hurt the demon beast the most. It hit a strategic point, more prominent in the true forms of these massive beasts.
The creatures’ strange screams before dying were unsettling. As they moved through the battlefield, the golem and the dragoness coordinated their allies, adjusting actions to work in sync.
The golem’s arrows and movents were entirely imperceptible to the enemies. No one could figure out what was hitting them. Obviously, the celestial soul was being used—but only on the enemies.
With the speed granted by the laws of earth, they moved unnoticed. Compared to the massive beasts, tens of ters tall, they were tiny and invisible amid the chaos of battle.
Thanks to the draconic beasts providing "support," every arrow fired created an opportunity to take down another target. The enemies were forced to retreat further and further.
Though they didn’t need anyone distracting the enemies, they made a point to show they were helping. Ruri’s ntal power was deliberately used to explain their actions later—Hibria knew about her abilities and would understand a bit about how they managed to pull this off.
Soon, the key enemies and the most problematic forces began to fall one by one. The draconic beasts stopped losing lives, and everyone watched in awe as the demon beasts descended into panic.
Where were these attacks coming from? They searched relentlessly but found no answers.
Within minutes, the demon beasts had lost almost half their numbers, leaving only a third of their strongest forces.
With their powerful leaders down, the less intelligent soldiers ran around like headless chickens. anwhile, Ruri guided the allies as she passed by, giving precise orders on where and how to attack. Victory ca so effortlessly it felt unreal.
anwhile, Alm kept collecting the enemies’ corpses and any objects made of unknown tals.
The tide of the battle had clearly turned.
At the heart of it all, the couple moved naturally and calmly, as if this was nothing but a simple ga to them. The draconic beasts, their eyes glowing with determination, helped the two continue their efforts. Only the allies could see them; the enemies remained blind.
Despite the overwhelming numbers of foes, the demon beasts were far below the demons in terms of individual strength.
The draconic beasts had been caught off guard and were still recovering from the previous battle, which put them at a disadvantage. But trusting these two newcors completely reversed the desperate situation. Even exhausted and running low on energy, their fighting spirits burned bright. In less than an hour, the battlefield was strewn with enemy corpses.
At the outer edge of the defensive ring, the golem and dragoness moved stealthily. Their more distant allies watched every movent, holding their breath.
They saw the small dragoness channel her ntal power into an iron arrow, crafted on the spot and infused with high-level earth laws. Admiration spread among them; the couple seed made for each other, their powers complenting perfectly.
Spotting an opening, the golem silently released an arrow.
The target, about ten ters away, was a golden, two-headed elephant with wings, exchanging blows with Nayr.
"!"
*Thwack!*
The arrow flew, and as if by magic, the elephant shifted, aligning its rear directly with the arrow’s path.
In the next instant, the arrow pierced the elephant’s anus. Everyone who saw it squinted, feeling an indescribable discomfort.
But in a blink, blood sprayed through the air, accompanied by a guttural, agonized scream. The arrow struck with such force that even the creature’s intestines were torn out.
"Yes!" Ruri cheered triumphantly, then covered her mouth, laughing mischievously.
It seed as if the golem had perfectly predicted the elephant’s movents. When Nayr forced it to step back with a strike, the arrow arrived, hitting it without fail.
Nayr turned to the couple, stunned. To him, though luck played a role, the shot was undeniably masterful.
Alm and Bruno easily read his thoughts: ’Luck? What an idiot.’
"It’s the chance!" Ruri shouted, snapping Nayr out of his daze.
He turned and saw golden lines forming across the body of another demon beast behind the elephant—a strange snake with horns. The glowing lines signaled it was gathering all its power for a desperate move.
*Thwack!*
Another arrow was fired, finding an opening between the snake’s scales.
"Where’s the magic spot on this snake?" Ruri muttered, puzzled.
At the sa mont, Nayr’s spear struck the target. Two other demon beasts tried to block him but coughed blood as they suffered severe injuries under his overwhelming strength.
*BOOM!*
The void quaked with a sea of pink flas. Monts later, the bloodied snake reappeared, grabbing several allies before using the last of its energy to control the winds and flee.
Those were the last enemies. The battle had clearly ended in a decisive, crushing victory. The draconic beasts suffered minimal casualties, all occurring in the initial chaos. Everyone looked around, then back at the couple in astonishnt.
Hibria, in her human form and covered in injuries, erged to check on her allies, ensuring they were safe.
After a few seconds of silence, roars and cheers erupted in celebration. But everyone’s eyes remained fixed on the couple, who moved calmly through the battlefield as if this were just another ordinary Tuesday.
