Outside the city, in a perfect circle around it, there were about three million beasts—just souls, of course. Of these three million, only one million were souls that had already died and were eternally enslaved in that place. The other two million were summoned just to clear the way.
Alm and Bruno quickly understood the four kings’ plan. The regular soldiers would attack all at once, forcing them to deal with them, while the truly powerful ones would try to deal as much damage as possible all at once. The goal was to drain as much of their energy as they could.
The kings didn’t expect to defeat them quickly, so they didn’t co in person. They would just keep up the constant pressure, not giving them ti to recover.
The kings weren’t stupid and surely noticed that the twenty had been removed from their arrangent. But they didn’t care. This was a divine Dao; to accomplish that, they imagined it must have burned a lot of divine soul power.
Surrounded by three million beasts, trying to free everyone would only hasten their defeat. Besides, what difference would freeing them make? With so many attacking, those freed would easily die. Once their souls were destroyed, the laws of that place would bring them back, and they could revive them with the power of ti. So, they would just put them back in the arrangent again.
The four kings were confident of victory; it might take so ti, but it was inevitable. Even though they didn’t co in person, they were monitoring the entire assault through the array to see who they were up against.
The army moved together towards the black city’s walls until they were less than twenty ters away. Then, sothing changed.
*ROAR!*
A deafening war cry reverberated in all directions. The entire army stopped, surprised.
Soon, everyone felt sothing abnormal rising from inside the city. It was hundreds, thousands, millions of powerful beastly auras.
"That... an army?! Impossible!" King Kun Peng exclaid, realizing what was happening through the array.
"From the auras, they must have about half our numbers... how did they manage to invade the Dream of the Void with so many?" The shocked voice of the Immortal Crane sounded in the communication channel between the kings.
Suddenly, the entire battlefield grew cold; the air was suffocating in anticipation of the scale of the battle.
Then, above the city walls, two figures slowly erged. They were two human forms, both of ordinary appearance, but radiating intense divine supremacy. Suddenly, the four kings’ eyes widened.
"It’s the divine soul! There are two of them, and they’re wounded!" The Celestial Jaguar spoke quickly. "They probably lost a lot of their power to bring this army without us noticing and burned so more to try to destroy us."
Everyone nodded, excited; they had imagined that they had lost so of their power with the attack, but they didn’t underestimate the power of a divine soul. Now that they felt how weak they were, they regretted not coming in person with full force.
The two figures snorted, and the one with a dark aura spoke coldly: "Cowards, you only sent cannon fodder. Well, fuck it, we’ll make you co. I’ll say this only once, anyone who crosses the walls of this city will be eliminated; this war is between and whoever commands you. You have nothing to do with it. Decide for yourselves."
As he spoke, all eight gates around the city began to open slowly. It was a clear invitation to enter, and a great pressure was felt by everyone present. But the distant kings just laughed dryly.
He was clearly bluffing, all four thought the sa. If they had died before while gathered with these figures, it ant they had shared everything and tried to recruit him first. He was inford that the army was immortal, but was trying to feign sothing to intimidate them? Did he think these kings had lived so long without learning anything?
Seconds later, the eight gates of the black city were fully open. The entire surrounding army looked seriously at the city. Inside, they saw a little over a million colossal shadows. All were tens of ters tall, with a fierce beastly aura.
"Pff, ridiculous. Although it looks intimidating, they’re only half our numbers, and their soul power is much lower." Kun Peng said dryly.
Suddenly, Zaori murmured. "This all seems very strange; he’s clearly scheming sothing."
"It doesn’t matter." The Celestial Jaguar said with a sigh. "Against absolute power, sches are irrelevant. We sent this army knowing everyone would die. Now that we know he’s weak, we’ll prepare for a new total assault."
"This army might have sothing hidden, but it’s really irrelevant. This sche will only work once; let’s end this quickly. Maybe after capturing them, we can try to convince them to cooperate." The Immortal Crane said with regret.
Kun Peng spat. "Fuck you with your waste of ti. He clearly knows he’s cornered and tried a last-ditch move by bringing this army and scheming sothing. We’ve given him a chance, and he chose to be arrogant; I’ll just refine him. Let’s finish this, ATTACK!"
King Kun Peng gave the order for his army to move. Soon, the other three sighed and ordered their armies through the array.
They didn’t know how those two divine souls managed to bring this army. In fact, the four hadn’t even realized that Alm and Bruno were a divine soul split into two poles, and their separate divine soul was much weaker than a common divine soul. This only showed they had no idea what a divine soul could or couldn’t do.
Soon, sothing as inexplicable as bringing an army secretly to this place was acceptable. But, given the weak state of the two, they imagined that this was their last move; he almost had no power to do anything abnormal again.
"KILL THEM!" War cries rang out from all three million beasts, marching towards the city.
"Those are the world’s evil! Fight for our races!"
"We have to stop them from invading our world! KILL THOSE DEMONS!"
Cheering shouts echoed through the army, driving the beasts into a battle frenzy. Essentially, the kings had fabricated a story about a malevolent villain about to invade the world, making everyone believe they were chosen to fight against him.
’These words are so nostalgic,’ Alm murmured, hearing the hateful shouts directed at them. They were already tired of hearing such things. The four kings had tried to co up with sothing random and ridiculous, but they hit the mark with their description, which, in fact, wasn’t a lie.
*ROAR!*
The shadows inside the city roared wildly as the army began to invade through the eight gates. It had to be said that the city was enormous. Even with three million soldiers inside, it occupied only a third of the area. The shadows were in the center of the city, occupying a smaller area.
The shadows didn’t move; they just roared, watching the enemy army enter the city. The three million soldiers entered in an orderly fashion, as they needed to cause as much damage as possible.
They didn’t advance directly; only when all three million were inside did they move together, attacking from all sides.
A furious will took over everyone. But, contrary to their expectations, the shadows in the center began to tremble...
Then they simply dissolved into a black mist, as if they had evaporated.
"What the hell..."
Before Kun Peng could finish the sentence, the black mist covered the entire army, blocking all their senses. The entire army was confused, and even the four kings couldn’t see through the array what was happening.
*SLASH!*
Suddenly, a blade cut through the center of the mist, bringing a bit of light to the darkness. But the light was one of death and destruction.
Hundreds exploded, and the blade continued to cut, destroying everything around it.
"Kill them! Brothers, the Divine Lord will save you! Just hold on a little longer!"
A beastly shout echoed in the midst of the mist. The kings heard it, feeling the death of dozens every second, unable to react. It was only then that Zaori’s voice was heard.
"Only those outside the array are dying!"
At that mont, the other three kings realized that those within the array were paralyzed and completely unhard. The enemies were focusing only on those soldiers who couldn’t be brought back.
Then, the senses of those in the array detected the ground beneath their feet trembling...
*Crack!*
A sound of earth splitting resounded in the darkness. Then... as if by magic, all four kings’ eyes widened, catatonic.
Suddenly, they lost connection with everyone in the array. One million of them were cut from the formation at the sa ti.
Kaiyka stood at the center of it all, and the ethereal sword in her hands dissipated. She staggered until two figures extended their hands to support her.
"Rest, Coltia and the others took care of everything," Alm’s dry voice said, and she nodded, exhausted.
Her soul was at 50%. She had worked hard using the power from her soul cultivation. Kaiyka copied the aura of all twenty who were with them and created a realistic illusion of an army. It was so realistic that only if the kings had been present would they have said it wasn’t real. Then, this illusion created the mist that sealed the army’s senses.
anwhile, on the ground throughout the city, Coltia placed millions of runes similar to those that made up the ’body’ of those in this world. Because they were very similar to what existed everywhere, even if the kings had been there, they wouldn’t have noticed the runes.
It was a completely hidden trap from the senses. As a trump card, if the kings had co in person. But unfortunately, they didn’t get that lucky.
After the army’s senses were clouded, the runes erged from the ground and affixed themselves to them. A trace of Coltia’s soul was in the runes, sealing their souls.
Finally, Alm and Bruno cut the connection with the array for everyone at the sa ti. This way, the kings wouldn’t even know what had happened. Everything was planned to be sudden and not give away too much information. To make it happen, they had to deceive and provoke the enemy into entering the city.
’Fortunately, an arrogant idiot is among them. If it were just the three without Kun Peng, the chances of this working would be 10%. It’s always satisfying to deal with those who see themselves as superior and fear nothing,’ Bruno murmured as he helped Kaiyka away.
After performing the rune move, Coltia joined the twenty. A massacre against those two million, who were disoriented, occurred. They were alive and wouldn’t die; they would just return in ti, waking up from their slumber on that planet.
"I found that idiot," Alm pointed to a spot.
Kaiyka and Bruno focused where he indicated and saw Nenuo among the Immortal Crane’s army. He didn’t see Alm and Bruno’s true appearance, only the fabulous curved shape of the whale. Once inside the city, Kaiyka only appeared after the mist covered everyone’s senses; in the end, he couldn’t see any familiar faces.
Coltia also found Nenuo on the battlefield; then she snorted dryly. With a movent, a beam of light shot out, and his soul was destroyed in less than a second. She was gentle, and he didn’t even notice when he was hit. In a short ti, he would wake up from the Dream of the Void; but the Forest’s opening had already passed, and now he could only lant his misfortune.
Minutes passed, and almost an hour later, it all ca to an end.
An army of three million was obliterated by two dozen people. It was so unbelievable that it was ridiculous.
After it was over, the twenty were completely stunned by the outco, while Kaiyka and Coltia just snorted, saying that it was sothing common and unimportant.
After a few words, the twenty turned to the two figures behind them with adoration in their eyes.
Alm and Bruno were focused and didn’t waste any ti. At the top of the city’s castle, a new sphere was floating, looking like an eye. The Origin Law collection system was still active in the city, and all the dead left so of that power behind.
Now, since they had experience bringing mories back to consciousness, they were going to burn everything and wake up a million people.
’It’s going to be a lot of work, and we’re short on ti,’ Bruno sighed. ’But now, the path to the next move is clear.’
