Chapter 31: Holy Body Vision! Competition Ends! Chaos Spreads!
Chen Xuan had always wondered about the true function of a Holy Body.
After all, although Huo Ling’er’s cultivation speed was terrifying, he found it impossible to believe that this was the only thing that a legendary Physique could offer to its owner.
All this time, he had been searching for a way to dig into its true secrets.
Unlocking its potential would not only aid Huo Ling’er but would surely grant him several benefits through the System.
Chen Xuan had been waiting for the perfect opportunity. And the Disciple Competition was exactly the catalyst he needed.
--
While the presiding Elder was puzzled about Chen Xuan’s instructions, he didn’t realize that the Peak Master had already appeared above the arena.
From this point of view, Chen Xuan was the first to witness Huo Ling’er’s transformation.
The moment she collapsed, heavily injured and on the verge of losing consciousness, a deep, primordial red flashed within her pupils.
Chen Xuan wasn’t sure if his eyes were playing tricks on him, but he thought he saw the faint outline of a towering figure.
A moment later, his suspicion was confirmed.
"Argh!" a low, hoarse shout echoed through the arena before an astonishing scene unfolded.
Without a single movement from Huo Ling’er, the surrounding Spiritual Energy rioted.
It poured into her body and violently erupted behind her, outlining a colossal humanoid phantom.
Its gender was indistinguishable, but its body appeared to be forged from molten lava, and its fiery red gaze burned with absolute aloofness and majesty.
The entity surveyed the arena before locking its sights on Mu Chen, the "mastermind" behind its appearance.
"Die!"
An ancient, indistinct voice that sounded like a blazing volcano rang out as a molten palm struck downward.
The sheer power radiating from the phantom faintly surpassed the Qi Refining stage.
The space around Mu Chen froze instantly, cutting off all his escape routes.
Now it was his turn to despair. Mu Chen couldn’t comprehend how his weak, exhausted opponent had suddenly summoned such overwhelming power.
More importantly, he didn’t understand what this entity even was.
Yet, the ringing alarms in his mind and the rapidly increasing temperature let him know that this was not an illusion.
The next moment, his body erupted into a pillar of crimson flames, eroding him from within.
"Stop!" the presiding Elder shouted.
However, having been occupied with saving Huo Ling’er, he had no time to protect Mu Chen.
The sudden reversal caught everyone off guard.
One second, Huo Ling’er was at death’s door, and the next, Mu Chen was lit ablaze.
Even the Peak Masters watching from the hall had no time to intervene.
Fortunately, someone had been paying very close attention throughout the whole ordeal.
Chen Xuan, hovering directly above the stage, made his move.
A massive Yin-Yang symbol materialized from his body and descended upon the arena.
The Yin half turned into pure, soothing water and wrapped around Mu Chen, dousing the lethal flames and mending his scorched skin.
Simultaneously, the Yang half flared into golden fire, striking directly at the aloof molten figure standing behind Huo Ling’er.
Chen Xuan felt a faint, innate suppression radiating from the phantom against his flames.
Fortunately, the difference in strength between them was an insurmountable chasm.
The suppression was instantly crushed, and the Yang flames engulfed the molten entity.
In moments, the terrifying vision dissipated, leaving only the unconscious Huo Ling’er behind.
Chen Xuan landed gracefully and caught her falling body, secretly channeling his Spiritual Energy to stabilize her condition.
Only then did the dust finally settle.
The audience watching the battle erupted into deafening cheers, thoroughly entertained by the continuous reversals.
Though there had been hundreds of fights during the competition, none had such a thrilling and exciting outcome.
Look! Even a Peak Master had to personally intervene to suppress the chaos.
However, the excited disciples failed to notice the solemn expressions shared by the Elders and the hidden Peak Masters.
"A Vision!" someone gasped, breaking the silence in the Peak Master’s hall.
Their exclamation confirmed what everyone was thinking. What they had just witnessed was indeed a Vision!
Moreover, it was a Vision awakened by a mere Qi Refining cultivator!
Several sharp inhales echoed through the hall.
The Peak Masters stared intently at the unconscious Huo Ling’er and Chen Xuan, their gaze astonished as much as intrigued.
Perhaps sensing the tension in the air, Qian Lingxue stepped in at the right time.
"Everyone, we’ll discuss the Vision later. We must wait until the competition concludes at the very least," she ordered.
"Let’s focus on the outcome of the other battle. Then, we’ll judge the final rankings accordingly."
Qian Lingxue abandoned the previous rules of having multiple challenges in just a sentence.
Having seen a Vision appear, her current priority was getting the competition over as quickly as possible.
Unfortunately, things were destined not to go as she wished.
The moment her words fell, and before the Peak Masters could even nod in agreement, another change occurred in the arena below.
Or rather, a series of changes.
--
The fight between Xiao Huo and Situ Yang was not as one-sided.
The two were evenly matched, with Xiao Huo displaying extreme mastery over his flames to perfectly counter the Sword Spirit Body genius.
The two were so intensely entangled that even when Huo Ling’er erupted, neither of them noticed.
Until...
Situ Yang’s eyes suddenly flickered.
A chilling trace of ruthlessness and dense killing intent flashed across his pupils.
For the first time since the battle began, he took the initiative to speak to his opponent.
"I was originally waiting for a better opportunity to take action. Against a Peak Master, or at least an Elder..." Situ Yang muttered inexplicably before his eyes sharpened.
"However, taking down a genius disciple like you is absolutely worth it."
Before Xiao Huo could comprehend the sinister meaning behind those words, Situ Yang’s body began to shrivel, as if a mosquito was sucking out all of his Blood Essence.
In exchange, the edge of his blade ignited with a horrifying, glowing crimson color.
"Die!" he roared, swinging the blade down and aiming to harvest Xiao Huo’s life.
Xiao Huo was completely stunned by his outburst.
It was only when his Master’s voice rang in his mind that he woke up. Not the voice of Lan Lanyue, but of his real Master.
"Be careful! This is the Blood-Drawing Blade of the demonic path!"
"This kid must be a demonic spy!" she screamed to remind him.
Xiao Huo didn’t understand the full extent of her warning, but the words "demonic path" were enough to let him know of the danger.
’Fortunately, the Elders and Master will definitely intervene. All I need to do is hold on.’ Xiao Huo thought, breathing a sigh of relief.
’With Situ Yang gone, the first place will be my own! Hahaha! As expected, how could anyone contend against me?’ he broke into a smug smile.
But before his lips could even fully curve upward, a quick glance around the arena plunged him into absolute despair.
Unbeknownst to him, flames had swallowed a large part of the arena, spreading rapidly through the audience stands.
Above him, the sky was filled with the flying cultivators locked in a fierce, chaotic battle.
