Nan Huaiyu narrowed his eyes slightly, staring intently at the woman who didn’t even spare him a glance, a cold smirk playing on his thin lips.

Amidst the overlapping stances, he accurately seized her slender wrist and with a slight force, pulled her in front of him.

His dark eyes were filled with a murky color that seed like it could overflow, his voice insolent, "After all, we are siblings, your indifference makes feel like a failure."

The pain from her wrist made Nan Wan furrow her brows.

The disparity in strength between male and female was obvious; even though she tried hard to yank her hand back, it was to no avail.

Whenever she moved, his grip tightened, drawing the attention of passing pedestrians.

She didn’t care before, but now...

She was very aware of her current identity. In this inherently unfair transaction, Mu Jin Huan still managed to give her enough space and ti to adapt, which was not easy.

Therefore, since she occupied this position, she couldn’t be indifferent to his face.

With a cold expression and a voice devoid of warmth, she said, "This is a hospital, could I trouble you to restrain yourself a little?"

Nan Huaiyu let out a low laugh.

He would rather face aversion than be treated like a stranger.

The hand he had in his pocket rose, as he casually tidied the strands of her hair ssed by the wind, "Everyone else knows, but I heard it from an outsider, which annoys —so, no, I don’t want to restrain myself."

Nan Wan closed her eyes briefly, turning her head to dodge his touch, her face impassive, "I have a surgery, don’t waste my ti."

Nan Huaiyu lowered his head, his sharp lips near her ear, his dark eyes filled with cold light, his voice ghostly, "Do you understand Mu Jin Huan’s past? Do you know who he holds in his heart? Do you know how many shady things he’s done? Do you know... why he went to jail?"

He spoke each word excruciatingly slow.

Nan Wan replied placidly, "I don’t want to know."

Nan Huaiyu maintained his position, his sinister voice unchanged, "You don’t want to know because you don’t love him."

Nan Wan also smiled, though there was no trace of laughter in her eyes, her voice lazy and distant, "Do you think you know well? Whether I love him or he loves —what does it have to do with you?"

Nan Huaiyu straightened up, loosening his grip, his cold eyes fixed on hers, speaking word by word, "When you love soone, you want to possess everything of theirs. You’ll resort to all ans to get them, even at the risk of mutual destruction."

"Deceit, harm, patience, desire, all ending only with death."

Nan Wan’s hand dropped to her side, losing its strength.

Each word he spoke was like a venomous snake slithering up from her heel, bringing a bone-chilling coldness.

Then it burrowed into her ears, repeating over and over.

She took a step back, widening the distance between them, her expression unchanged, "Nan Huaiyu, if you’re sick, get treated early, don’t co disgust every once in a while."

Nan Huaiyu’s expression didn’t change, he calmly stated, "You faked a marriage with Lu Li, willingly bearing all the infamy because you like him. You rejected the Su Family because that pampered wastrel isn’t worthy of you. You find disgusting, not even bothering to spare a glance my way, because you hate ..."

The corners of his lips curled into a wicked arc, "You chose Mu Jin Huan. Do you even know why you did that?"

Nan Wan listened patiently, her gaze lowered, as though seriously contemplating his query.

A few seconds later, she looked up, a radiant smile gracing her face, her tone light, "Maybe, it’s because of love..."

A gust of wind swept by, scattering her words the mont they left her lips, leaving no trace behind.

Nan Huaiyu stared intensely at her face that clearly wore a smile, yet oozed detachnt and indifference, a murderous aura seeping out from his eyes, "Nan Wan, you will regret it."

"Co rub it in when that day cos," Nan Wan took a step forward, passing by him without pausing, her expression as calm as ever, "Before that day arrives, I really don’t want to see you again, not even a glance."

Her unique fragrance faded, leaving only the biting cold wind in the air.

Nan Huaiyu stood beneath the withered tree, his thumb grazing over his lips, his slender eyes filled with malice, "Wanwan, you want to not appear before you, how could that be possible..."

It was like a murmur, yet also like speaking to himself.

Qin Zhenzhen was in an exceptionally good mood today. Seeing those gossips with faces as if they’d eaten shit was so satisfying.

She humd a tune all the way to Nan Wan’s office.

She pushed open a crack in the door, clutching the door fra as she poked her head in, "Doctor Nan, your complexion is quite rosy today."

Nan Wan didn’t even lift her head; taking a day off work ant there was a lot of backlog, "I think you need a pair of glasses."

She hadn’t slept well for two days, her eyelids so heavy they were about to droop shut. She couldn’t understand which eye of this girl saw ’rosy’ on her face.

Qin Zhenzhen walked up to the desk and noticed that Doctor Nan was not wearing makeup. Her delicate features were still very beautiful and clean, but there was a faint fatigue beneath her eyes.

Tsk tsk, Mr. Mu really has no restraint!

"Your complexion isn’t really rosy," her eyes shifted, a bright smile on her face, "but... you’re in a rosy mood."

Thinking about the news she saw yesterday, the world felt particularly wonderful.

Though Mr. Lu wasn’t bad, the mature and wealthy Mr. Mu was evidently more charming, and Doctor Nan matched better with Mr. Mu.

Nan Wan rubbed her forehead, the first ti anyone used those words to describe a mood, "Did your elentary school Chinese teacher also teach PE?"

Clearly too little work, too much free ti, causing the gossiping heart to burn brightly with nowhere to place it.

Qin Zhenzhen’s cheeks reddened slightly, she scratched the skin behind her ear, her eyes glancing at her fingers first, then at the person in front, "Doctor Nan..."

"Hmm?"

She pursed her lips, tentatively asking, "When will you and Mr. Mu hold your wedding?"

The hand holding the mouse paused, her gaze on the computer screen losing focus.

Then she looked up, smiling, "Not decided yet, why?"

Qin Zhenzhen didn’t notice the change in Nan Wan’s mood, she earnestly explained, "I’m worried about going ho for the New Year, and then returning to school after winter break, I might miss your wedding—I want to prepare a wedding gift in advance."

The sky outside the window was gloomy, and even with the lights on, the indoor light wasn’t great.

Nan Wan put down the mouse, flipped the calendar on her desk two pages forward, looking at today’s date: December 28th.

Flipping another page forward, it was the 29th, her gaze lingering on the large number for a long ti.

After a silence, she murmured softly, "Yes, it’s almost New Year’s."
