The auction was still underway. On Fang Chang’s side, the bidding war between Ning Wan’er and Nangong Yue had already drawn quite a bit of attention, causing many in the crowd to turn their eyes toward them.

"The next auction item: Fragrant Silk Armor. Another sixth-grade defensive soul tool," the host announced, and as she said this, she couldn’t help but glance at Ning Wan’er.

"This piece of Fragrant Silk Armor offers defensive capabilities similar to the previous item, but with a more refined design. I imagine it’ll be more popular among female soul masters."

As she spoke, she held up the armor. Clearly crafted for female soul masters, the armor had a soft texture and intricate patterns, significantly more elegant than the previous item.

"Fragrant Silk Armor—starting bid at 120,000 gold soul coins." As expected, its price was slightly higher than that of the Purple Moon Heart-guard Mirror that Ning Wan’er had just won.

"200,000 gold soul coins," Nangong Yue called out without hesitation, instantly driving the price high.

Ning Wan’er wanted to compete again, but the money she’d brought was already running low. Worried Nangong Yue might trap her again with a sudden withdrawal, she ultimately chose to stay silent.

A voice from the crowd called out, "220,000 gold soul coins."

That price was already approaching the item’s actual value. Unless soone desperately needed it or had money to burn, few would offer much more.

"250,000 gold soul coins," Nangong Yue bid again.

While still a bit of a loss at that price, it was a far better deal compared to the 500,000 gold soul coins Ning Wan’er had spent earlier.

"250,000 going once!"

"250,000 going twice—any more bids?" the host glanced over at Ning Wan’er.

She took a deep breath, raised her arm halfway, then let it drop. If Nangong Yue tricked her again, she really would be crying for real.

"Sold for 250,000 gold soul coins! Congratulations to this young lady for winning the Fragrant Silk Armor!"

"Although this item didn’t fetch as high a price as the Purple Moon Heart-guard Mirror, we still thank this young lady for her contribution to our auction."

Hearing that, Ning Wan’er couldn’t hold it in any longer. Furious, she stood up and left. After a mont’s hesitation, Xu Qing got up and followed to comfort her.

The next item was a piece of Withered Bone Vine, used for crafting high-level soul tools—sothing that didn’t interest Fang Chang and the others.

The following few auction items drew only mild reactions, until the venue suddenly erupted once again.

"This item is called the Soul-Ascending Fruit. It can raise a soul master’s soul power with no side effects," the host announced, lifting a jade tray.

Fang Chang only gave it a glance before turning away. It was indeed a Soul-Ascending Fruit, but unfortunately, it was under a thousand years old.

For low-level soul masters, it might be sowhat helpful, but for those at the Soul King or Soul Emperor level, it would likely only grant a one- or two-level increase at most.

"The starting bid is 500,000 gold soul coins," the host declared.

"Hiss—" The price drew a sharp intake of breath from many in the audience.

A fruit that could directly increase soul power without side effects naturally ca with a hefty price tag.

"600,000 gold soul coins!" Despite the cost, soone imdiately raised the bid by 100,000.

"680,000 gold soul coins!" This ti, the bid ca from Yu Nantian. After calculating all the funds he could muster, he decided to stake everything on this item.

He had originally planned to purchase a few reliable soul tools with this money, but upon seeing this item, he imdiately changed his mind.

His soul power was already at level 59, just one level short of the breakthrough to level 60. With normal cultivation, it would be impossible to make it in ti for the tournant.

But with this item—there was still hope! Compared to soul tools, an increase in strength was far more valuable.

As the auction continued, good items occasionally appeared, and each mber of Fang Chang’s group made their own gains.

Even Fang Chang bought two items during the auction. One was a basic tactical cha, which he intended to study and see if it could be modified for use by the Spider Clan.

The other was a trap-type offensive soul tool. Zhu Zhu had originally planned to buy it, but she didn’t have enough money. Seeing her give up, Fang Chang raised the bid and won it, gifting it to her afterward.

By the ti the auction ended, it was already evening. The group left the venue feeling satisfied. Xu Qing and Ning Wan’er had left a little earlier, and no one knew where they’d gone.

The instructors and Yu Nantian decided to split up to look for the two, while Fang Chang took the opportunity to leave alone with Zhu Zhu.

According to her, she had lived in Sunmoon City for two years, and now she mysteriously claid she wanted to take Fang Chang sowhere special.

They turned into several quiet streets, and just as they entered a secluded alleyway, Fang Chang’s expression suddenly changed.

"You’ve been tailing us for long enough. Co out already," he growled toward the alley entrance.

As his voice fell, over a dozen black-clad figures erged from the shadows, surrounding the two of them.

"Who are they?" Zhu Zhu asked nervously. She could tell that these people were all at the Soul King or Soul Emperor level, no weaker than they were.

And with so many of them, if they were hostile, this could easily be a death trap.

Fang Chang shook his head. "No idea. But they’ve been following us since we left the Soul Fighting Arena. They tailed us all the way from the auction house too."

"There’s even that?" Her heart sank further. If they’d been following them since the Great Spirit Arena, their intentions definitely weren’t good.

Were they from the arena? Or a faction in Sun Moon City? Anyone who could dispatch this many Soul Kings and Soul Emperors must be quite powerful.

The group closed in, trapping the two in the center. The leader pulled a portrait from his robe and compared it to Fang Chang.

"No mistake—it’s him. Prepare to move," the man said hoarsely, voice thick with killing intent.

The others responded by releasing their martial souls. A wave of soul power burst forth from all directions.

"Who are you?" Fang Chang asked calmly, unshaken. "We’re about to be killed—can’t we at least know why?"

The leader glared at him with venom. "Who we are doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’ve offended soone you shouldn’t have."

With those words, the group launched their attack from both sides, blades aid to take Fang Chang and Zhu Zhu’s lives.

Zhu Zhu’s heart sank as she summoned her martial soul, preparing to fight, but Fang Chang held her back.

"Close your eyes." He raised one hand to cover her eyes, blocking her view. At the sa ti, he lifted his other hand and gently swept it through the air.
