Trevor’s POV

Subtly, the party ca to a close, with the music dying down, and the people beginning to leave to their places. I could count the number of people that were present.

Triton’s expression looked more worried since our conversation. He hadn’t told what his problem was, and it unsettled .

"Trevor, we’re going to solve everything together." Maria whispered to as her palm cupped my face.

I smiled without forcing it. "I know we would."

A thought settled in my mind. Even though I had been cast out of my pack, I was still aware of the pack rules and pack politics. If Maria doesn’t have a wolf, she may not be ordained as alpha and leader of her pack.

I slipped my palm into hers and asked. "Are there any signs of your wolf returning?"

She looked in a particular direction towards the floor. I followed her gaze, but was t with nothing.

She smiled and pointed at an empty space. "My wolf is right there."

I squinted my eyes and looked in the direction she pointed. It was bare, and I couldn’t understand what she ant.

Before I could ask another question, she continued. "I can see my wolf spirit, but no one else can see it." She took her hand off mine and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ears.

"I don’t understand," I muttered.

"I’ve been seeing visions, Trevor. Rember the ti you broke the wall of the library, there was actually nothing there, I was just seeing a vision." She paused for a mont to look at . "I am from Veilwood, and I have the gift of the seer. It is my ability that also revealed the forger to ."

"Wow," That word escaped my lips before I could even think of a proper answer. "You an you can see your wolf right here?" I stretched my hand and moved it around the place she pointed at.

She nodded her head.

Thunder growled in my head. "She has a wolf. What does it look like? Ask our mate what her wolf looks like? Is it pretty?"

"Describe your wolf for ."

She smiled and glanced quickly at that empty direction, before returning her gaze to .

"Her na is Aria. She is not so big. She’s a white wolf. Right now, she’s glowing with golden light, just like a spirit."

"Wow." I muttered the sa words again. "I wish I could et her. Thunder wants to et her."

"You would definitely et her when she enters back into my body. She says I’m still recovering, and there’s a greater power in , that’s why she can’t co in yet."

I couldn’t really explain why I was filled with so much excitent. My happiness bubbled over now that I knew that she wasn’t only my mate, but she was gifted with sothing unique and was a leader of her own pack.

"I will join you as soon as the blight is over."

"I wish you could join now," She said.

When it got deeper into the night, we had to sleep to prepare for the next day. Triton had advised that we move fast, so that everything could be resolved soon.

As I lay in the bed close to Maria who was already sleeping, my mind rumbled with nurous thoughts. I couldn’t deny the fact that I was going to miss her.

She was by my side, sleeping peacefully, but she didn’t fully understand the type of effect that she had on . She was more than just a mate.

I leaned closer and drew her closer to myself, while wrapping my hand on her waist. She stirred a bit, and nestled her head on my chest.

I love her, I always did. I wonder if Triton ever loved her the sa way I did, and what their love story was.

Looking at her calm sleeping face which was slightly illuminated by the candlelight, I drifted into sleep.

When I woke up, I saw myself in an outside space. The trees ford a light canopy in the skies. The atmosphere was a bit foggy, and it was the early hours of the morning.

It didn’t look like the forest around my territory, nor did it look like the one in my hotown in the north, Lycanthia.

Then, I perceived the scent of my mate, Maria. It got more intense and I followed the scent. As I drew closer, I could hear voices, loud, harsh and commanding.

When I reached the spot, I was t with a gory sight of my mate being tied to a pole, in front of her was a man who I slightly recognized— the forger.

He sneered and pointed a finger at . "Tell her to stop whatever she’s trying to do or I kill her. She wouldn’t ruin my plans."

I opened my mouth to say sothing, but it seed like I was stuck in a phase where the words refused to form.

"Help , Trevor!" Maria scread as the forger brought the sword closer to her neck in an attempt to slit it.

I lunged towards him and hit him off. Then, he pointed the sword towards , and forced it down my chest.

It was that mont that I scread, and my voice ca out loud.

I opened my eyes and was still screaming. When Maria held my hand, it was only then that I realized it was a dream. I was still in bed with her.

"What happened?" She asked as she rubbed my back gently.

I was already sweating and shivering. The dream seed too realistic.

"I had...had a nightmare about both of us and the forger." I stuttered.

She placed her hand in mine and gave my palm a gentle squeeze.

"It’s just a dream," She comforted . "Nothing will happen to any of us."

Then, she gave a light kiss on the lips, and leaned against my chest. In a few minutes, I could already feel her hot breath on my skin as she drifted into sleep.

As for , sleep eluded . My eyes were sharp through the remainder of the night. I ended up cradling her in my arms till the next morning.

"Goodmorning," she muttered as she woke up.

I responded by placing a light kiss on her forehead. She stretched her limbs and yawned before sitting upright on the bed.

"You’re ready to leave today with Triton?"

She nodded her head. "Yes,"

She stepped out of bed, prepared and headed towards the hall with a satchel which contained the things she would need during the trip.

I followed behind her, my mind unwilling to wish her goodbye so soon. It felt like a part of was missing. We were mates and better halves of each other, so what I felt was valid.

I cornered Triton to the side before he went with her.

"I need you to take care of her throughout the journey. I don’t want to hear of any accidents."

"You make laugh sotis, brother." Triton responded with a chuckle. "Have I ever had any accidents while coming here or while leaving?"

I swallowed hard. "There are dangerous wolves out there. They may not attack you because you’re an alpha, but sensing she has no wolf, they may want to attack her."

"I totally get your point. She’s in safe hands."

With those convincing statents from him, I faced Maria.

She was looking as beautiful as ever and obviously less worried than . I pulled her into my arms and hugged her tightly. Her wild roses scent engulfed , the scent cald my frazzled nerves.

"I’d miss you. Don’t forget that you can always write letters."

She wrapped her hands on top of my shoulders. "Do letters really get delivered to the rogue fortress?"

"Of course they do. How do you think my brother writes to ?"

She smiled and pressed her head further into my chest. "Then, I’ll write everyday."

Triton cleared his throat, interrupting our mont of bonding. "We have to leave early so we can arrive at Veilwood fast."

She unwrapped her hand around and we disentangled from the hug. She joined Triton’s crew.

I walked them off till the borders and stopped by the forest where the blight had been studied to spread from. She waved at from where she stood, and I waved back.

Then, she faced front and walked along with Triton and his man. I watched them move, until they walked deeper into the forest and I couldn’t see them again.

I continued standing at the sa spot even after they vanished into the forest. I wondered if she was going to recover her mory when she returned to her pack.

Her parents might not want to accept as her mate because I am a rogue, but that was the least of my worries. We had already marked ourselves as mates and no one could separate us, not even my death curse, because I knew I am going to fight this curse and I must live to continue loving my mate.
