"Don’t!" Olivia suddenly shouted again as Gabbana’s finger was already pulling the trigger. She was dizzy from the beating, her eyebrow was cut, as well as her nose was slightly broken just like Joseph’s, but she needed to at least do one thing.
If it’s true that they are coming, she needs to get ti because in her mind, she would be killed.
Yeah, she thought that Joseph, even if he was a Cassian, even if he was a bad person, she was the one that helped him get out, she was the one who signed it. She thought he felt sothing toward her, that she was the one that understood him and spoke with him, that at least he cared about her a little bit.
And that little thing could help her with only one thing. To stay alive and tell the truth to the world, what is really happening and what happened back then because now she knew the full story, and she believed in it a hundred percent... maybe 99 percent.
Not just that, but if they show up and kill off Gabbana and the others, the power vacuum will be created, and the only remaining family with a legacy is going to be Joseph and the Cassian family, with the last mber in it being him. And even if he doesn’t want to deal with it, even if he just wants to finally die and end it all, the family blood still runs in his veins and the operators and who knows how many others behind them will look at Joseph as the Don, the man they are loyal to.
It also ant if he dies now, they will kill everybody, and it will just create more power vacuum, because if suddenly everybody dies in the old families, it’s just going to cause a lot of conspiracy theories. The three most influential underworld figures died with Cassian, who got released, and with an agent?
It’s going to cause headlines if that happens, and the underworld will be turned into chaos. Yeah, because even though Gabbana, Vincente, and Jelana are egotistic motherfuckers who got everything from the beginning, their nas were power, not just that, but they had n, influence, and bribed officials. With that, they kept the underworld in peace, and everybody knew their place. But if they die, chaos will erupt to take their place, to beco the next big family.
To not let that happen, one of these things needed to happen.
One, they kill her and Joseph, and they stay alive and the whole story of Joseph was just a bluff, but the chance of it was low, because Joseph wanted to die, so why would he bluff?
Second, they die, as well as Olivia, and Joseph walks out. That scenario had the higher chance, and if that happened, everybody would know that it was him. The news already talked about his pardoning, that he got let out of prison, and not just that, every single agency, as well as civilians and the underworld, knew he was out and if the agent that was escorting him, who is Olivia, suddenly dies with these big families, it will be obvious that it was him who killed them.
She needed to get ti, for the DAG if they are really working with him to get here, and at the sa ti for her too, to survive this whole encounter, to be the key witness of all of it.
"Why wouldn’t I do it, you heard it too, you bitch." Gabbana said as he now aid his gun at Olivia. "You want to buy ti for your agents to co?" He asked with a smile on his face, a maniac one just like Jelena earlier... he was losing it. "Let tell you sothing." He stepped to her from Joseph and grabbed her hair, pulling it up. She twitched as Gabnna lifted her head and just stared right into her eyes. "We bribed them too, your little democracy, your little bubble is also bribed, lady... so they are not coming..."
Yeah, she knew that too. Olivia wanted to believe that with the governnt change, with the new democracy and ruling power, there wasn’t any chance for bribery. Yeah... but everybody can be bribed, and she knew it. But still, she thought that the nation was going toward a path that was leading toward justice. But it wasn’t that. There were still rootes, there were still people who filled their pockets through pacts, deals with the criminals, with the politicians doing frauds and stealing as much money as they could.
"Oh, they are coming..." Joseph whispered as he looked at Olivia and, more importantly, at Gabbana.
His head was limping forward, and the blood on him was already starting to dry up. He looked like a demon, like his eyes were red, bloodshot, and his whole face and chest were covered by it. And the way he said it, it wasn’t like he was telling a possibility, he was telling a fact.
And that fact was so real that now Jelena stepped forward, pushing the barrel to Joseph’s head. "Then where are they?!" She asked with a smile and that ragged breath of hers.
But Joseph didn’t feel fear or threat as he looked at her eyes with a faint smirk. "They are... behind you." He said in a low voice, and Jelena’s eyes imdiately shot wide open as her expression changed and she went pale.
Not just her, Gabbana and Vincente too, even the guards with them who were facing them felt ti stopped.
The weight of Joseph’s words. It was different now. He said it in a way that wasn’t guessing they were there, but it sounded more like a fact... and it was also a fact that they got scared as fuck. Like, so scared that they didn’t even want to turn back to face the warehouse door.
Why would they look back?
Like, if they looked back it would just tell that they were scared. But why would they, when they knew that outside are dozens of guards and they can’t die without them noticing it.
Yeah, there was no way that it was actually true.... and well, it was true, because one of the guard who had enough guts to turned around and the and the door was fucking open.
Wide fucking open,
"W-why is that o-open...?" He asked as he looked at Vincente, who turned around too and fuck, it was really open.
But not even a single voice was coming through. Not even one of the guards’ voices from outside. It was like a bad horror movie beginning, the dimly lit warehouse with a wide open door, and not even a single sound.
And matter of fact, it was going to be a horror movie...
