Chapter 673: Chapter 622: I’ve Loved You for a Long Ti
Cherish Turner hugged the thermos and softly said, “The day Anthony left, I was in school. I always regretted not being able to spend more ti with him. Grandpa Griffith is like an old child, stubborn but kind-hearted. I’m really happy to be able to accompany him now.”
William Griffith fell silent, and then asked, “Do you miss your mom and dad?”
“You an the Mother Turner and Father Turner of now?”
William nodded.
Cherish stared into the distance, her smile nostalgic, “It’s impossible to say that I don’t miss them. William, do you know? My dad was really great, and my mom was beautiful and cooked delicious food. So many children liked to co to our house to play, they praised my mom, and I felt so proud and happy. My parents were the best in the world. Although they are gone now, it’s okay. I will live well and not let them worry.”
“And…” Cherish paused and sweetly continued, “I have you now.”
William was stunned and slamd on the brakes to pull over to the side of the road.
Cherish turned her head in surprise, but he reached out to hold her tightly yet tenderly in his arms, as if afraid of hurting her. “What’s wrong?” Cherish asked, puzzled.
Kissing her hair, William gently murmured, “Nothing, just wanted to hold you.”
Cherish embraced him back, enjoying this rare mont of peaceful intimacy.
At bedti, my dad would tell
stories. I have heard many stories, especially The Snow Queen. Dad said that everyone is a Snow Queen, and everyone is looking for their own Kay. When my mom heard this, she told
that I would find my own Kay.”
“My dad was busy with work every day, but when he ca ho, he would play with . My mom cooked delicious als for . I rember she knitted a white sweater for , and the next day, I wore it to school. All the kids were so envious. I wore that sweater for a long ti until I grew up and it couldn’t fit anymore. Then, mom unraveled the yarn to make a pair of slippers…”
As she recounted her past, William listened quietly.
After drying her hair for her and helping her lay down, Cherish continued to murmur, “After becoming nearsighted, my mom bought
glasses and told
not to take them off. My dad said that if you really love soone, you won’t care about their appearance. Whether she’s ugly, beautiful, or just plain ordinary. I think my dad is right, so I promised my mom I wouldn’t.”
Thinking of the past and her tumultuous experiences with William, along with her tragic family history, Cherish’s eyes filled with tears.
William tucked her in, “Go to sleep.”
Hesitantly, Cherish reached out to gently grip his hand and choked on her words, “William, can you sleep with
tonight?”
How could he refuse her? Lifting the covers, William got in beside her.
Turning off the light, they lay in darkness under a single blanket.
His large hand held her small hand, but his actions remained proper and respectful.
When he suddenly heard sobbing, he knew she was crying silently. He pulled her close and held her in his warm embrace. He felt the wetness on his chest and tasted the bitter-saltiness of her tears.
He lowered his head to kiss her forehead, gently rubbing her back, providing her with all his strength. Her crying ceased, and she timidly returned the embrace, burying herself deep in his chest like a small boat that had finally found its harbor, no longer needing to search and wander.
Her soft body, carrying a sweet scent, made his desire almost uncontrollable. His hoarse voice said, “Cherish, don’t hug
so tight.”
“Why?” Her voice was still stuffy.
“I’ll react.” His honest confession caused her to freeze, her face instantly blushing.
As expected, Cherish let go, yet their fingers remained entwined. As if afraid of him leaving, she held onto him, even more so of the lies that bound them. They lay quietly together for a long ti, her restless heart finally calming. Then, his deep, tender voice slowly rose, “Actually, I’m very grateful. If it wasn’t for the Turner family, we wouldn’t be together.”
Cherish looked at the hazy light outside the window, “If… if you hadn’t mistakenly gotten in bed with
and had Lewis, would we still be together?”
William gently squeezed her hand, “You attracted
long before that.”
“When exactly?” Cherish asked curiously, turning to face him.
He didn’t want to answer, but she persisted, “Was it a long ti ago?”
He said softly, “A long ti ago.” Holding her in his arms, he tightened his embrace, as if holding the most precious treasure.
He had loved her for a long ti.
