Chapter 354: Chapter 354: Not Necessarily Losing
Yannis Griffith’s handso face was calm, yet there was a hint of loneliness in his eyes.
Her saying this was creating an invisible distance between them. She was severing his hopes or maybe, she had never thought about it in that way.
Sotis Yannis wondered if he were to be a little more proactive, would they even manage to remain friends?
They dined quietly together, making idle chit-chat and talking about the past. He occasionally ntioned that person, whose ntion made Cherish believe she could laugh and cry at the sa ti.
Every ti this happened, Cherish would stop what she was doing and listen attentively.
“My brother has always been a man of few words,” Yannis paused, seemingly skipping over sothing before he solemnly continue, “Later, that changed and he started speaking more.”
Cherish focused her gaze, her deanor unusually sombre.
“My brother decided to move to the United States. It’s more fitting for him there.”
“New York is certainly a great city, opportunities are plentiful,” Cherish blurted out. Yannis’ eyes tightened and she lowered her head, whispering, “I believe whatever he sets his mind to do, he will certainly achieve.”
Yannis remained silent, taking a sip from his wine glass.
He didn’t ntion which city, but she knew. His older brother did indeed want to take her along, but why, then, did she not accompany him? Why did she choose to stay instead?
Having lunch, they both walked out of the restaurant together.
Cherish quietly walked towards her office building, looking up towards the sky.
That city should be his paradise. Just as the bird yearns for the sky, he should fly freely.
“My birthday is at the beginning of next month. Would you be able to attend my birthday party?”
Cherish wanted to wish him a happy birthday, but due to her relationship with the Griffith family and the shared yet unspoken past with Grace, she felt awkward about attending.
Seeing her hesitation, Yannis said, “It’s a rare occasion that I’m inviting you, co along.”
Cherish paused for a while and finally gave in and agreed.
Watching her figure disappear into the distance, Yannis took out his phone and dialed an international number.
After a long pause on the other end, he said almost emotionlessly, “Brother, I’ll be celebrating my birthday next month. If you’re not planning to co…” He clenched his phone tightly and whispered, “Cherish, I will pursue her. Moreover, I will express my feelings for her my way. By then, I may not be the one who loses.”
Upon her return to Cherry Blossom Garden, Tanigawa opened the door for her.
Tanigawa Kenichi was a peculiar man, who sohow had found himself residing in Cherish’s house and did not seem to have plans to leave. Initially, Father and Mother Turner were not fond of Tanigawa. But after spending so ti with him, they found his company interesting, especially the old man who enjoyed bantering with Tanigawa, leaving him speechless each ti they discussed the Japanese Invasion.
Today, there seed to be sothing off about Cherish’s deanor.
“What’s wrong? You look so gloomy.”
“Nothing, I’m fine.”
“I doubt that! Did the younger brother co looking for you? Are you missing him again?”
Cherish remained silent. She felt like he was stirring up a storm in a teacup.
She had lost touch with William, and they beca like two strangers lost in a sea of faces.
“Cherish, don’t be so naive that you can’t see that he likes you too. He is William’s younger brother, you two can’t be together. If you would consider him, you might as well consider ! I am handso and suave, and I certainly outshine him. After all, we have so much in common!”
