Chapter 147: Chapter 147: Old Affairs, Old Acquaintances
“What’s wrong? Who are you looking at?” Robert waved his hand in front of Cherish.
Cherish continued to search for that figure, but she couldn’t find anything!
It couldn’t be that her eyes were playing tricks on her, she could see it clearly! It was a face that looked just like hers!
“Robert, wait for !” Saying that, Cherish ignored Robert and ran out, rushing out of the barbecue restaurant and chasing to the street corner. The neon lights flickered, and in the hazy night, Cherish’s eyes beca bewildered. She searched, but couldn’t find anything. There was a painful feeling in her heart as if sothing was tightening it, and the oppressive feeling made her unsure what to do.
People were whizzing by, and she couldn’t hear what the passersby were saying. The feeling of being lost at a crossroad made her feel like she was suffocating.
Feeling uneasy, Robert chased after her and saw Cherish standing there like this, “What’s wrong? Cherish, your face looks pale, are you feeling unwell sowhere?”
Cherish shook her head, then asked, “Robert, did you see anyone passing by outside just now when we were eating, right by the window?”
“There were so many people passing by the window, who can rember all of them? Did you see soone familiar?” Robert didn’t see it.
Cherish shook her head, “Oh, I must have seen it wrong…”
“Stop mumbling, let’s go back inside. It’s freezing outside!” Saying that, Robert pulled Cherish back in.
Around the corner, the woman who had been at the window finally ca out. Looking at Cherish’s retreating figure, she was once again swallowed up by the crowd.
–
Griffith Family Old Mansion.
In the study, Robert was sorting out so books that he didn’t read often, wanting to put them away one by one. The old lady brought a cup of tea and placed it in front of Robert.
Seeing Robert sorting things out, she went over to help.
Many of the things in the cabinet were old and had a layer of dust due to not being sorted out for a long ti. Robert took them out one by one from the cabinet, wiped them clean with a towel, and then put them back in the cabinet.
Until an old photo fell into his sight.
The old lady saw it too, and both of them were stunned, followed by silence.
“How old is this photo?” The old lady asked.
Robert sighed, but didn’t answer.
“Old man, I heard there’s news from Beijing. Anthony tried to commit suicide in prison, but fortunately, he was saved. He hasn’t regained consciousness yet, though, and I’m afraid…”
Robert’s hand holding the photo suddenly slipped, and the sharp edge of the photo cut his finger.
The old lady quickly took a handkerchief to wipe it, “You see, you always get so emotional when this matter cos up. Back then, no one could have handled this situation. The Turner family was busy, and we didn’t say we wouldn’t help, but there was only so much we could do. At that ti, the higher-ups were investigating so tightly, and only the Griffith family ca forward to help Anthony, but…”
“Alia, hurry up and arrange for plane tickets. Let’s go to Beijing. Bob isn’t here anymore, and we have to send him off.”
ntioning Bob, Alia couldn’t help but sigh. Bob was such a good child back then, elegant and talented. If it weren’t for the Turner family’s misfortune back then, Bob would probably be the one in charge of the Turner family and Beijing now. Unfortunately, he passed away at a young age.
As soon as the Turner family in Beijing was ntioned, Alia suddenly thought of sothing and felt a pang between her eyebrows.
“By the way, what happened to the investigation into Cherish’s background that I asked for last ti? I’ve accepted it now. As long as this girl’s family is clean and innocent, I won’t mind whether she’s from a prestigious family or not!”
