Daniel Peacock was knocked down by William Griffith, lying on the ground and leaning against the wall. He couldn’t help laughing as he saw William and Cherish embracing.
“Haha, hahaha…” His laughter contained a few unsettling elents.
Cherish clung tightly to William, fearfully looking at Daniel. Just monts ago, he had almost forced himself on her!
William ignored Daniel’s deranged laughter, bending down to scoop Cherish up into his arms. The protective manner in which he held her spoke volus about his care for her.
Cherish hugged William’s neck tightly, not daring to let go.
“William Griffith!” Suddenly, Daniel called out, addressing William by his full na.
William stopped in his tracks but did not turn around, “What, do you think your injuries aren’t severe enough?”
“William Griffith, is your rush to take Cherish away because you’re feeling guilty? I never would have expected that the top business tycoon of Seaside City, William Griffith, would be into playing the substitution ga!”
The word ‘substitute’ struck Cherish’s heart heavily. She couldn’t help but shrink back as she clung to William’s arm.
Knowing that Cherish had heard Daniel’s words, William didn’t want her to hear any more. He attempted to walk away, but Cherish stopped him.
“What does he an?” Cherish’s voice trembled with fear and unease.
She had heard more than once that he wouldn’t like her, that he had soone he already liked. Now she’s just a substitute?
“You heard it, didn’t you? Cherish, you’re just soone’s substitute. Do you really think the man beside you loves you? You’re too naive!”
“Daniel Peacock, explain what you an—”
“She is not anyone’s substitute; she is Cherish.” Before Daniel could say anything else, William interrupted with his sincere gaze fixed on Cherish, as if she was the only one in his world.
“Separating others is a one-way ticket to hell, Daniel Peacock. Perhaps you’re already in hell now!” With those last words, William hesitated no more and left the hotel with Cherish in his arms.
Daniel sat there, clenching his fists tightly with hatred. One day, he would reclaim Cherish!
Wrapped in his warm, spacious coat, Cherish allowed herself to be carried away, her thoughts still lingering on what had been said.
There were too many things she didn’t understand, and though she wanted to find answers, it seed William didn’t.
William opened the car door and placed her in the passenger seat. He then got in the driver’s seat and started the car without a word, but still thoughtfully turned on the heater.
“William, I…”
The next second, the car screeched to a halt. William’s fiery kiss landed on Cherish’s lips, a passionate, overwhelming display of possession. It seed that nothing could stop his fervent embrace at this mont!
Only God knew how worried he had been. When he saw her disheveled on the floor, his heart had almost leaped from his chest.
“Cherish, what if I had been a second late? What if I hadn’t found you?” He suddenly sat up, pinching her chin and rubbing it repeatedly until she cried out in pain.
“Tell , how am I supposed to discipline your disobedience tonight? I really want, oh how I want, to devour you in one bite!” In his repressed emotions, even he was still shaken. Fortunately, she now lay unhard in his arms; otherwise, he would have turned Seaside City upside down and made Daniel Peacock regret everything he had done, wishing only for death!
