C15 – The Spirit Beast and the Cultivator
Before long, the Great Green Snake grew restless in the silence. It struck up a conversation with Lee Tian, “Big brother, you seem to be listening intently. Do you understand what the humans are saying? Could you translate for
what they’re talking about?”
Once again, Lee Tian shot the snake a sharp look.
Suddenly, his deanor shifted, and he glared at the snake, his eyes blazing with fury.
“Can you just be quiet? Stop interrupting , will you?” he snapped at the Great Green Snake.
“Okay,” the snake replied, visibly intimidated by Lee Tian’s fierce expression, and quickly settled down.
Lee Tian was earnestly trying to pick up any information about the world and humans from the hunters’ conversation. It was crucial for him, so the Great Green Snake’s interruption had naturally irked him.
The ongoing squabble between the hunters, Wang Donglin and Bai Zonghao, was eventually broken up by another hunter.
“Enough, both of you, just cool it!”
The hunter had had enough of their bickering and intervened, “We’re deep in the Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain, and the further we go, the more perilous it gets. We’ve ventured far enough today; let’s not stir up any large beasts, or we might not make it back ho!”
His words brought imdiate silence among the hunters. They scanned their surroundings with heightened alertness, and the tension in the air skyrocketed.
The cacophony of animal roars and bird calls seed to envelop them from all sides.
One hunter, growing fearful, suggested, “Guys, it’s getting dark. How about we call it a day and head back?”
Bai Zonghao let out a sigh and turned to Wang Donglin, “Donglin, are you certain there are Fire Leopards in this area?”
“I am! I personally saw a Fire Leopard on the outskirts of the forest last month! I’m positive it’s lurking around here!” Wang Donglin declared with conviction.
Lee Tian, upon hearing the ntion of the Fire Leopard, was imdiately reminded of the Blazing Leopard he had encountered upon his arrival in this world.
Could they be talking about the sa Blazing Leopard?
“Let’s not bother. I’ve heard that the Fire Leopard is a Spirit Beast, imnsely powerful. Only the most skilled cultivators have the ability to ta it!”
The hunter’s words carried weight; when he spoke, his companions hung on every word.
“Think we re mortals have what it takes to snag a Spirit Beast?” he said, chuckling at the absurdity of the notion.
“Let’s head back. The Fire Leopard is out of our league.”
Hoisting his steel fork, he made his way out of the woods.
The other hunters exhaled in resignation and trailed behind him.
They had been lured into the mountains by Wang Donglin’s tales of a Fire Leopard, a creature of imnse value. Caught up in the excitent, they hadn’t stopped to consider their own capabilities.
Now, with a clearer head, they found the whole idea laughable and were shaken by the close call.
Had they actually encountered the Fire Leopard, they would have been nothing more than lunch, ard only with their shoddy weapons.
The small group of hunters quickly vacated the forest, vanishing without a trace.
Perched on a tree branch, Lee Tian was lost in thought.
The hunters’ conversation had revealed the na of this place—Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain—and introduced him to two intriguing terms: “Spirit Beast” and “Cultivator.”
The significance of Spirit Beast and Cultivator was clear; these were no ordinary titles.
“Brother, what’s on your mind?” The Great Green Snake couldn’t stand the silence any longer. Watching Lee Tian stand there, lost in thought, it timidly broke the silence.
Lee Tian snapped out of his reverie at the sound of the Great Green Snake’s voice, suddenly aware of its presence.
