The man’s lips slightly curved upwards, as if thinking of sothing, his gaze tinged with self-mockery.
Yan Wang did not press further, patiently waiting for his response.
After a long while, the eyes behind the gold-rimd glasses darkened slightly: "As I passed by, I was greedy and wanted to take sothing from the lamp... and as a result, I was warned."
Sothing inside the lamp?
Yan Wang seed to realize sothing, and his heart skipped a beat.
The man raised his hand, half in thought and half indifferent, as if the charred hand wasn’t his own but a subject of study: "However... through this experint, I’ve realized that the power of the rules is not unchangeable; it only requires paying a price."
Yan Wang gave him a serious look and disagreed slightly: "You call this a small price?"
The man turned around, his gaze under the glasses shining brilliantly: "To successfully retrieve it, this price indeed isn’t much."
Yan Wang lowered his lashes: "...If you take it back, you will no longer be able to find this path."
The man seed surprised by his response, pausing for a mont.
Then, his lips slowly curled up, looking at him with a playful smile: "So, do you plan to be utterly selfless, letting your own fragnt of soul burn out in the lamp?"
Yan Wang didn’t reply imdiately. He silently stared at the man before him, trying to discern sothing from his slightly raised lips. That smile hid too many secrets, like a high-stakes gamble.
After a long silence, he finally spoke, his voice low and firm: "I just believe that every adventure should have its limits."
Saying this, his little face tensed up.
Knowing that the man wouldn’t easily give up, but not wanting to see him fall into an endless abyss for the so-called "success".
As expected, the man lightly pushed his glasses, seeming surprised by Yan Wang’s reaction, but more of an indescribable emotion.
The air between them beca tense, as if ti had stopped flowing.
The man didn’t speak again but just quietly watched Yan Wang, as if weighing his true intentions.
After a long ti, he slowly said: "Do you know? The power of the rules is everywhere, not just confined to the thing in the lamp. Every ti I try to change it, I am gambling with unknown forces."
"What do actually you care about? The process or the result?" Yan Wang countered.
The man laughed, his laughter carrying an elusive bitterness: "What do you think? Every ti... I can feel the pulse of that power, and it’s irresistible."
"You know that if you persist, the consequences are unimaginable!" Yan Wang suddenly beca much more serious, and his tone intensified.
Yet in his eyes, there was clear concern.
The man’s smile gradually faded, replaced by a rare seriousness: "If I can’t turn back, that just ans I’m not strong enough yet."
Yan Wang was speechless...
He was silent for a mont, then stood up, taking the dical kit in hand: "I won’t end up like you... no matter what... I can’t recklessly risk my own life..."
The man’s expression twisted, sowhat fierce: "What do you know? You have never experienced loss—"
Yan Wang’s hand clenched into a fist, neither servile nor overbearing: "Her life was traded for this opportunity, not for you and your brother to waste this way!"
The wind went silent for a mont.
The man suddenly went mute.
"I thought you just wanted to see her, that’s why I agreed to help you last ti... but now, it seems you’ve beco obsessed." Yan Wang’s eyes were calm, as if looking at a stranger. "If you can’t understand... then her sacrifice is aningless!"
He paused, then added.
"She hopes you live well, stop doing foolish things, go back."
