"What’s wrong? Is sothing the matter?" The man frowned, confused by Alia Avery’s bizarre behavior.
Alia Avery buried her face in the man’s chest and pleaded urgently, "Take away. Get out of here."
’How could she let Cassian Jennings see her like this? If he did, wouldn’t all her efforts be for nothing?’
’Cassian Jennings would know for sure that the woman who had been with him these past two days was her...’
The man must have guessed Alia Avery was in so kind of trouble. He pulled her into a tight embrace, shielding her with his overcoat as he led her toward the main entrance.
As Cassian Jennings watched Alia and the man’s intimate behavior, his hands at his sides balled into tight fists. He desperately wanted to rush over and tear them apart, but he knew with absolute certainty that if he did, she would run away—far, far away...
Once they were outside the bar, Alia Avery pulled away from the man’s embrace.
She offered the man an apologetic thank you before turning to leave.
As Alia Avery started to walk away, the man reached out, grabbed her arm, and asked with a smile, "Can we see each other again soti?"
Alia Avery simply raised an eyebrow at him in response.
The man seed a bit embarrassed, scratching his head. "I had a great ti with you tonight. I hope we can do it again soti, just like tonight."
Alia Avery’s lips curled into a cold, scornful smile. "Sorry, but I don’t think we’ll be seeing each other again. Tonight was an exception. Thanks for your help, and goodbye."
The man said nothing more, just watched as Alia Avery walked away.
Once Alia Avery was gone, he turned to head back into the bar. He had only taken two steps when a man charged out and threw a punch. Caught completely off guard, he took the full force of the blow.
He touched the corner of his mouth where he’d been hit and glared angrily at his attacker. "Who the fuck are you? How dare you hit !"
Cassian Jennings didn’t say a word. Fueled by rage, he simply threw another punch.
This enraged the man even more, and he started trading blows with Cassian Jennings.
After walking for a while, Alia Avery suddenly began to sway, her steps becoming unsteady. A mont ago, when the fight broke out and she saw Cassian Jennings, she had been perfectly clear-headed. Now, however, she felt the alcohol rush to her brain, leaving her dizzy and disoriented.
She shook her head hard, trying to stay lucid. Tapping her slightly aching head, she forced herself to keep walking.
But she could barely keep her balance, staggering crookedly down the road...
After his brawl with the other man, Cassian Jennings, feeling uneasy, quickly went after Alia Avery.
He kept a distance of about ten ters, following slowly behind her. Seeing her begin to sway as she walked, his hands clenched even tighter as he fought the urge to rush forward and sweep her into his arms.
As Alia Avery stumbled along, she bumped into a man on the street. She muttered an apology without looking up and tried to keep walking, but the man grabbed her arm in a tight grip. A sinister smile spread across his lips. "Alia Avery!"
As he spoke, the man had already hoisted Alia Avery onto his shoulder and signaled to several other n standing on the street to move...
A van pulled up at that mont, and the man carrying Alia Avery got in.
Cassian Jennings had only looked down for a mont to pull out a cigarette, and when he looked up, Alia Avery was gone...
