Jack had switched from daily stand-up etings to once per physical day etings that included people from each of his companies.
There wasn’t a need to et every soul space day, but things were moving fast enough that he felt eting once per physical world day was needed.
"Welco, everyone," said Jack as he surveyed the room. "Since we have so new people joining us, let’s go around the room and have everyone introduce themselves."
He turned to his right and looked at Madison.
"Um, I’m Madison Kavanagh, one of Jack’s inner circle and his head of AI developnt."
"Are you the one responsible for the AI models Radius is using?" asked a man further down the table.
"Yes, I created all the open-source and proprietary AI models for Radius," said Madison, trying not to sound smug.
"Wow, I’m thoroughly impressed. Your work is especially impressive given how young you are. With the work you’ve done, I’m beginning to wonder why I was even hired."
"Um, once you learn how I made the models, you won’t be nearly as impressed," said Madison.
"Even with the approach Madison has taken, we are all still impressed with what she has accomplished," said Jack. "And we hired you, William, because we need soone with a deep understanding of human cognition, the brain, and how knowledge is encoded in neural networks."
"You’re aiming for AGI," said William.
"More than that, we are aiming for safe, trustworthy, non-kill-all-humans AGI," said Jack.
"Ah. Understood. Sorry to interrupt. I’m just excited to be here."
"No problem," said Jack. Then he turned and looked at Samantha.
"Oh, um, I’m Samantha, one of Jack’s inner circle, and I’m not in charge of anything, but I’ve been trying to understand the math of subatomic particles."
"For those of you that have had the chance," said Jack, "you’ll know how mind-bending it is to look at an electron inside a Subatomic level snapshot."
Several people around the room nodded their heads, and one man muttered, "Can’t wait to get back to it."
"Samantha has already made significant progress and may even have discovered a possible avenue to practical nuclear fusion. Though much work is needed to determine what exactly she discovered," said Jack as he smiled at her.
He turned his attention to Nora.
"I’m Nora Blackwood, a mber of Jack’s outer circle and head of his nanotech research and developnt. Until recently, I’ve been in charge of getting his research institute up and running, and it’s with great pleasure that I can hand off that responsibility to Pauline Henline so I can focus full ti on nanotech."
Rina was sitting next to Nora and didn’t speak until Jack looked at her.
"I’m Rina Devi, a mber of Jack’s inner circle and head of simulation research and photonics research."
Sitting next to Rina, Isabella said, "I’m Isabella Macklin, a mber of Jack’s inner circle, and his head of underworld affairs and one of his business advisors."
"Do we actually have underworld interests?" asked an older woman.
"Not at the mont, Pauline," said Jack. "But we would be foolish to ignore the underworld since they might not ignore us."
"Ah, yes. I see," said Pauline.
Heidy was sitting next to Isabella and spoke next. "I’m Heidy Oakland, CEO of Radius 10K. I left BuyMoor because I disagreed with where they were taking the technology. I’m thrilled to be here helping Jack carry out his vision for the future."
Then Cindy, next to Heidy, said, "I’m Cindy Larkin, VP of datacenter operations at Radius. I was assistant VP of datacenter operations at Yoctoly until recently."
"I’m Lars Jensen, forr owner and now CEO of Jensen Manufacturing. Jack saved both my company and my life, so I’m just grateful to be here."
"I’m Astrid Jenson, VP of Fabrication at Jensen Manufacturing."
"I’m Phineas Dermot, founder and CEO of Horizon VR."
"I’m Helga Eldridge, account manager for all of Mr. Waldron’s interests at Castle Group."
The reason none of the Sinclairs were present was that Castle Group was an enormous company and Jack’s various concerns only accounted for about 8% of Castle Group’s total business at that ti.
Next to Helga was the older woman that had spoken earlier.
"I’m Pauline Henline, recently hired as CEO of Genesis, Jack’s research institute. Prior to this, I was the director of the Tierra Dorada Institute of Technology’s laboratory division, responsible for the operation of all seven of their laboratories. When I learned what Jack and his team had already accomplished, I begged them to let work for him."
Next to Pauline was a middle-aged man.
"I’m John Baldwin, director of materials science at Genesis. Prior to this, I was a tenured research fellow at Pritzker University. My team and I are beyond impressed with Rina’s molecular modeler."
"I’m Martha Hanson, director of dical technology at Genesis. Prior to this, I was head of dical technology research at the Jan Bobkins Research Hospital. When Nora showed what she had already accomplished with nanotach, I jumped at the chance to work with her and see a bright future for dical treatnt."
"I’m Amanda Bennet, a mber of Jack’s outer circle and director of robotics at Genesis. Prior to this, I was working in the engineering departnt at NSU."
"I’m Craig Kung, director of theoretical physics at Genesis. Prior to this, I was a research fellow at Pritzker University, hoping to make tenure so I could stop kissing asses. Being able to stare directly at an electron is a childhood dream of mine, and I cannot express how happy I am to be here."
Then he turned and looked at Samantha. "Samantha, I am beyond impressed with the progress you’ve made in comprehending the mathematics underlying subatomic particles. I look forward to working with you."
"And I’m William Alderman, director of AI research at Genesis. Prior to this, I was just one of many AI researchers at Yoctoly struggling to advance core AI science when our corporate overlords were clamoring for more profits."
"I’m pleased to have all of you here and look forward to the great things you will accomplish in the future," said Jack. "Now, let’s get down to business. Heidy, I know you have lots of fun news to share, but I’m going to save you for last. So, let’s start with Helga."
