But before An Ge could say a single word to the other party, a towering shadow lood behind her.

Her fingers trembled, and the phone slipped from her hand, crashing onto the ground.

Turning around, An Ge was t with the sight of Lee Dahai standing before her, his features almost grotesque in rage.

In his hand was an axe, its blade sared with blood.

An Ge’s alarms went off instantly; her entire being switched into a state of high alert.

An Ge decided to strike first:

"You’re doing this because of An Baoying’s death, aren’t you? You want revenge on , right?"

But Lee Dahai wasn’t in any rush to kill her now.

He thought An Baoying had died so miserably that he had to brutally torture An Ge to vent his hatred.

So he simply said to her, "That’s right."

With those two words, his cold gaze locked onto An Ge’s face, his emotions suddenly growing more volatile:

"If it weren’t for you, my Baoying wouldn’t have suffered such a miserable death. Do you know how grueso her end was?"

As Lee Dahai spoke, tears began streaming down his face uncontrollably.

"When I went to recover her body, her eyes had burst from their sockets, her brain matter was splattered everywhere, her features reduced to a bloody pulp... Before her death, she’d even had her uterus removed... Do you think I’ll let you die painlessly?"

An Ge’s gaze fixated on the axe in his hand.

At this mont, the rain had already washed the bloodstains off the axe.

By the light of the van’s headlights, An Ge studied Lee Dahai’s increasingly twisted face. After so thought, she spoke:

"An Baoying didn’t jump to her death on her own."

Lee Dahai froze montarily at her words.

His eyes bulged as he glared at her.

"She didn’t commit suicide? I saw the surveillance footage from her room..."

An Ge interrupted:

"Yes, I saw the footage too."

She paused,

"But don’t you think it’s strange? She woke up in the middle of the night, suddenly climbed to the window,

and the entire process of jumping took less than a minute. Even in the mont she jumped, her pupils weren’t focused..."

Lee Dahai’s throat bobbed. "You bitch, what exactly are you trying to say?"

An Ge: "I suspect An Muxin killed her."

Lee Dahai was incredulous: "That’s impossible!"

An Ge replied: "Why is it impossible? An Muxin had a clear motive to murder her. An Muxin was terrified that An Baoying might expose her as the mastermind behind Madam Huo’s assassination attempt, so she silenced her..."

Lee Dahai was so shocked he couldn’t speak.

An Ge pressed on: "Wasn’t it An Muxin who sent you to kill ?"

Lee Dahai didn’t admit it.

In this world, Bai ilan was the person he cared about the most.

He worried that exposing An Muxin would drag Bai ilan into the ss as well.

Therefore, Lee Dahai said to An Ge: "No, it has nothing to do with An Muxin."

Pausing for a mont, he then unleashed his rage on An Ge:

"Even if Baoying was killed by An Muxin, you’re still one of the culprits. If it weren’t for you, she wouldn’t have t such a tragic end. If An Muxin deserves to die, then you deserve to die a thousand tis over..."

As he spoke, Lee Dahai raised the axe and slashed downward at An Ge’s skull.

But An Ge stepped back swiftly and said to Lee Dahai:

"You want my life? Fine."

She paused,

"Let see my son first, and I’ll surrender myself to you, at your rcy."

Lee Dahai sneered: "Do you think you’re in any position to negotiate with now?"

An Ge looked at him and said:

"Your daughter An Baoying died such a horrible death. If you kill with one axe swing, wouldn’t that be too easy for ? Don’t you want to torture to death bit by bit? Like pulling out my bones or skinning alive..."

Her words ignited a furious thirst for vengeance in Lee Dahai.

His eyes turned bloodshot as he stared at An Ge and said:

"Fine! If you’re so eager to die in pieces, I’ll grant you that wish."

With that, Lee Dahai turned and walked ahead.

Seizing the chance, An Ge grabbed a brick and concealed it behind her back before following him.

Five minutes later, An Ge found herself inside a lit, decrepit house alongside Lee Dahai.

The house was small and reeked of decay and blood.

A puddle of fresh blood stained the floor where An Ge stood; it hadn’t dried yet...

Seeing this, An Ge’s pupils contracted violently, and for the first ti, she couldn’t maintain her composure.

In a trembling voice, she asked:

"What... what did you do to my son?"

Lee Dahai grinned at the sight of An Ge’s utter emotional breakdown.

He said, "I just thought of a more entertaining, more satisfying way to exact revenge."

Pointing at a sealed burlap sack, Lee Dahai said:

"See that? Your son was disobedient, so I gave him a lesson and stuffed him into that sack. So, what do you say, want to play a ga with ?"

An Ge trembled with rage.

But she knew only by staying calm could she have a chance to fight back.

She bit her lip, then lifted her chin slightly at Lee Dahai. "How do you want to play?"

Lee Dahai sneered: "Start stripping. Strip until there’s not a stitch left on you!"

An Ge’s fingers twitched, and as she hesitated to respond, Lee Dahai viciously kicked the sealed sack.

Imdiately, the sack began to writhe violently.

But inside, there was no sound apart from the movent.

An Ge licked her parched lips and suppressed the panic roiling in her heart. She continued to stall, trying to create an opportunity for herself.

She looked at Lee Dahai and asked, "What do you plan to do to after I strip?"

Lee Dahai smirked: "A beauty like you? Of course, I’ll skin your pretty face off intact, haha..."

Before he could revel any further in his twisted fantasy, An Ge swung the brick concealed behind her back at his head.

But Lee Dahai was a trained fighter.

He dodged quickly, easily avoiding her attack.

In the next mont, he landed a powerful slap on An Ge, sending her crashing to the floor, blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.

Then, he stomped brutally on her chest, glaring down at her with the fiery gaze of a demon,

"You bitch! Why did you have to steal my daughter’s man? If not for you fighting her over him, she would’ve fulfilled her wish to marry Huo Shaoyan."

"If not for you, she wouldn’t have been driven into despair. If not for you, she wouldn’t have died so tragically..."

Struggling to withstand the pain from the slap, An Ge steadied her thoughts and forced herself to speak with calm:

"Lee Dahai, An Baoying was never your daughter..."

Of course, An Baoying was indeed Lee Dahai’s biological daughter.

But An Ge guessed that if she could successfully plant seeds of doubt in him, she might stand a chance of survival.

Sure enough, her words left Lee Dahai reeling with disbelief.

Without even letting her finish, he snarled in a fury, "You bitch! At death’s door, and still trying to spread lies—"

Keeping her voice even, An Ge replied, "I’m not. I have proof."

Her statent distracted Lee Dahai enough to hook his attention successfully. He demanded:

"What proof do you have? When Baoying was a year old, I already did a paternity test. She’s my daughter..."

An Ge interrupted him:

"She’s not. She’s Bai ilan’s second boyfriend’s daughter." She hesitated before continuing, "You rember his na, right? Bai Hua?"

The fact that An Ge could accurately state the na of Bai ilan’s second boyfriend made Lee Dahai waver in disbelief.

Lee Dahai said, "ilan... ilan wouldn’t. ilan told —she said I was the love of her life, that she gave her deepest love to . She couldn’t have cheated on with Bai Hua..."

Watching his reaction, An Ge pressed on:

"Lee Dahai, Bai ilan has always been a selfish woman. If she truly loved you, she wouldn’t have married An Zhiguo back then...

And after marrying him, do you really think you were the only one she kept seeing? She was being intimate with Bai Hua at the sa ti she was eting up with you. If Bai Hua hadn’t died young, do you think she would’ve stayed entangled with you until now?"

Anger boiled over in Lee Dahai’s emotions: "Even if that’s true, Baoying... Baoying can’t possibly be Bai Hua’s daughter..."

An Ge countered: "Why not? Bai ilan fabricated a fake paternity test report to fool you—she could certainly have done sothing like that..."

She paused deliberately. "And I really do have proof."

On the verge of losing his sanity, Lee Dahai snarled, "What proof do you have?"

There was a glint of calculation in An Ge’s eyes as she told him:

"My phone is in the van, and the proof is on it."

She added,

"It’s a recorded conversation between Bai ilan and An Baoying, where Bai ilan admits Bai Hua is her biological father... If you don’t believe , you can go get my phone right now."

An Ge’s words sowed hesitation in Lee Dahai’s mind.

If An Baoying wasn’t his daughter, what was the point of him risking his life for Bai ilan?

But if An Ge were lying to buy ti, wouldn’t his chances for revenge vanish?

Noticing his wavering resolve, An Ge quickly added:

"Thinking I’m lying? If you’re doubtful, you can tie up before heading out to fetch the phone.

If it turns out I wasn’t lying, we’ll talk further. My only goal is to survive..."

After hearing her reasoning, Lee Dahai quickly found so rope and began binding An Ge hand and foot.

With that, he grabbed his axe and rushed into the rainstorm outside.

As soon as he was out of sight, An Ge exhaled deeply.

When she’d first entered, she noticed a sickle buried in so nearby ruins—though rusty, it was still functional.

Bound as she was, she curled herself into a ball and began rolling toward the ruins with all her might.

Two minutes later, she successfully freed herself using the sickle.

Without hesitation, she dashed toward the sack in a frenzy.

An Ge tore it open, only to find that it didn’t contain her son, Huo Huaisang... Inside was rely a bundle of cloth—and within that bundle lay a sheep, its mouth sealed with duct tape.

Before she could process her shock, she heard Huo Huaisang’s frantic cry behind her, "Mom, run—"

The mont that cry rang out, Lee Dahai—having doubled back and realized he’d been tricked—brought his axe down, aiming straight for her.
