...

On a main road in front of the Second District Security Office.

"You want back what you gave this captain? In your dreams!"

Captain Barossa bolted out, barely able to hide his glee.

Suddenly, a masked man who brushed past him called out:

"Captain Barossa?"

’Why does this voice ring a bell?’

"Bang!"

Barossa stopped dead in his tracks.

Looking back, he yelled:

"Young Master Valois!"

Though Carlos wore a mask, his unique vibe and straight-backed posture still made him stand out like a beacon in the night.

Barossa spotted him right away!

"Captain Barossa, what’s all this about?"

Carlos’s tone was confused.

Running in such a rush—had they already found traces of hidden Black Sinners?

"Well... this captain..."

A layer of cold sweat popped up on Barossa’s forehead. His gut told him not to lie to this perfect kid.

Just then,

"Captain! Captain!"

The garrison soldiers caught up.

"Where should we start the search?"

They had no clue why their boss had ordered a retreat and was hauling ass. Had he discovered so new lead?

"Um... well..."

Looking at his subordinates’ hopeful eyes, Barossa didn’t know how to explain.

Right then, Carlos got another ssage from Red Spirit. He figured out the whole deal, and his look toward Barossa gradually got weird.

"By the way, Young Master Carlos, did you co here for sothing specific?"

Barossa had a lightbulb mont, dodging the topic and changing the subject.

"So mysterious person delivered an anonymous tip to the Second District Security Officer today. That letter was apparently about Black Sinners."

Carlos quickly filled him in on the intel Red Spirit had dug up.

"What! Soone made a report!"

Barossa, who’d only wanted to change the subject, imdiately got dead serious when he heard this.

Then, putting this together with the Second District Security Officer’s various sketchy behaviors, it all clicked:

"I was wondering why that bastard Willie was being so generous. So he was sitting on this information!"

Barossa’s face got serious as he shouted:

"Turn around!"

The garrison soldiers looked at each other:

"Turn around where?"

Back to camp?

"Back to the Second District Security Office!"

Marching forward, Barossa led his soldiers back to blow the lid off Willie’s secrets.

Just as he was about to charge back into the security office, a thought flashed through Barossa’s mind:

’Young Master Carlos wouldn’t bullshit , would he?’

He wouldn’t!

Barossa was dead certain of this!

...

"Lord Red Spirit, check out this gem—so big and shiny! Look at this gold coin—so bright and heavy! Look at..."

"Caw~~~"

Red Spirit yawned like it was bored out of its skull. Why wasn’t master showing up yet?

Just as Willie was trying every trick in the book to get Red Spirit to buzz off, a subordinate rushed in to report:

"Sir! Sir! The garrison troops are... are back!"

"What! What did you say?"

Willie’s little mustache shot up, his beady eyes flashing with annoyance.

"Willie! This captain’s back!"

A deep voice rolled from far to near, loud and mighty, coming with serious attitude!

"Barossa! How dare you co back!"

Willie had never seen anyone so ballsy.

Taking his stuff, half-assing the job, running away, and then actually coming back?

Are you ssing with this old man because he’s getting on in years!

Serious high-tier psionic energy erupted, powerful montum spreading along his little mustache.

"Good, good, good! Since you’re back, leave your stuff here!"

"Hah! Willie, you can’t keep that stuff. Better hand it over to this captain!"

Barossa grinned, his high-tier psionic energy exploding to match the showdown.

His face muscles twitched, his eyes full of aning.

"You... what do you an?"

Willie got a bad feeling...

"Caw caw!"

Master, you’re here!

A fiery red fireball zipped past as Red Spirit flew to Carlos’s side.

"Good job."

Carlos reached out to pet Red Spirit’s little forehead.

It was scorching hot, but luckily Carlos had resistance to Dawn Fla, so he could handle it.

"Caw! Caw!"

Master touched !

Red Spirit’s eyes curved like crescents with pure joy.

Happily, it spun like crazy above Carlos’s head, forming a crimson fla halo while making cawing sounds.

This imdiately grabbed everyone’s attention.

Even Willie, who was in the middle of a face-off, couldn’t help but look over.

His heart imdiately started hamring:

’What a terrifying aura!’

Though this unfamiliar masked man gave off the vibe of weak psionic energy, Willie felt a strong sense of danger rise up in his chest!

"This... who the hell is this guy?"

Carlos stepped forward and slowly pulled off his mask.

Instantly, the entire security office went dead quiet. Even the bugs shut up.

"Greetings, Security Officer Willie."

’Carlos Valois!’

Security Officer Willie was blown away inside.

Only when actually seeing him did he get why so many people called him the ’Perfect Incarnation!’ and ’Child of the Gods!’

The stronger your spirituality, the more you could sense his extraordinary essence.

This wasn’t sothing you could explain with just perfect looks and incredibly charismatic personality.

It was the deadly attraction of ultra-high spiritual essence over weaker spirituality!

’Unbelievable! Absolutely unbelievable!’

Even when eting various city-state lords, Willie had never felt such an instinctive sense of being totally outclassed!

"Greetings! Young Master Valois!"

Willie quickly bowed. The tense atmosphere in the room instantly lted away.

From the mont Carlos showed up, he automatically beca the center of attention for everyone there.

"Security Officer Willie, I heard you got a tip about Black Sinners."

Carlos cut straight to the chase, his voice carrying undeniable pressure.

"No..."

Before he could finish, a gaze landed on him.

Willie felt completely naked before those erald eyes.

He smiled awkwardly:

"It seems there was sothing like that."

He was freaking out inside. How did this guy know?

He’d only gotten that letter recently and hadn’t even had ti to report it.

"Willie! You hid this and didn’t report it—what’s your ga!"

Barossa, fired up with righteous anger, fired off a powerful accusation.

Willie’s eyebrows and mustache both started twitching:

"I was just about to report to the Chief Security Officer. It was you bringing people here that screwed up my reporting schedule!"

"Huh? Black Sinner incidents this big are usually handled mainly by our garrison. Hand over the letter, now!"

Barossa’s attitude was rock hard. He didn’t give a damn about anything else.

Yeah, according to how things usually worked, traitors and Black Sinners—scumbags that bad—were better handled by Rock Sand City’s most badass garrison troops.
