Klaus had just landed an SSS-rank skill, Stellar Sword Descent, which was aweso, but he still didn’t have a proper weapon to make it sing.

He had an earth cleaver, but its rank was too much for him to handle.

He also decided to switch to a sword from a dagger as he felt the need for it.

A chipped hunting knife wasn’t going to cut it. He still had 380 DP left, a pretty decent amount, and he knew exactly what he required next.

"System, let’s do another draw," Klaus stated, his voice now firm with his new purpose. "This ti, I require a weapon. Initiate an Elite Draw and set the paraters [weapon] and [sword]."

He thought about adding more paraters, like enhancents or specific characteristics, but a quick mory of how much the last draw cost stopped him.

Each extra parater added up about a 10X increase from the previous one, and he didn’t want to blow all his points in one go. The Elite Draw was a solid choice at 100 DP, and with the specific paraters, he felt good about his chances of getting sothing useful.

[Ding! Elite Draw confirmation. Deduct 100 DP?]

"Approved," Klaus confird, feeling that familiar rush of excitent.

[DING! Parater [weapon] locking confirmation. Deduct 10 DP?]

"Approved," he nodded.

[Ding! Parater [sword] locking confirmation. Deduct 100 DP?]

"Approved," he said again, watching his DP shrink from 380 down to 170. It was a big chunk, but a good weapon was super important.

[Confird! Initiating a draw....]

Klaus held his breath, a faint hum starting to fill the air around him, a subtle energy gathering. The system didn’t make him wait long.

[DING!! Congratulations on drawing a soul weapon: Lost Echo (Special Growth-Type)!]

As the notification chid, a shimring, dark-steel sword appeared out of nowhere, floating right in front of him. It wasn’t fancy or covered in gems, but its design was sleek, powerful, and really elegant.

The blade itself seed to soak up the light, its surface a deep, polished black, but with a faint, almost ghostly blue glow from its center. The handle was simple but felt perfectly balanced, wrapped in what felt like old, smooth leather.

The system’s description imdiately popped into his head:

------------

Weapon Na: Lost Echo (Special Growth-Type)

Description:

-double-edged jian sword

-soul weapon

-Grows with the Host and has a chance of awakening consciousness.

-The edge never goes blunt

-top-notch mana conductivity.

Forged by ?????

Current Rank: C

----------------

Klaus snapped out of his daze, his eyes locked on the beautiful sword. A soul weapon! And a Special Growth-Type at that. He hadn’t even known such things were real, The system’s voice chid in again, pulling him back to what he needed to do.

[The Host should drop his blood to bind the weapon.]

He reached out, his fingers brushing against the cool, smooth handle. It humd softly under his touch like it was saying hello. He quickly pricked his thumb with a small, focused thought, and a drop of his blood appeared, glowing faintly before it fell onto the blade.

The mont it touched the dark steel, the whole sword shimred. A wave of warmth spread from it into his hand then rushed through his arm and into his very core.

He felt an undeniable connection, it felt like an extension of his soul.

He noticed this was completely different from the Earth Cleaver he’d gotten earlier, which the system had just given him at the start as a gift. This sword felt truly unique in his hands.

After the sword was bound to him, the system’s voice rang out again, confirming what he had instinctively felt.

[A soul weapon gets bound to the Host and cannot be stolen or broken. It draws power directly from the Host.]

"At least I’m ready for so grinding right now," Klaus muttered, a genuine smile touching his lips. With Lost Echo in his hand and the amazing sword skill Stellar Sword Descent, he felt truly powerful, ready for anything.

"technically from the old traditions I am already SSS rank since I have such a skill now"

But before he could celebrate too much, a really important question, one that had been bugging him, popped back up.

He had all these elental affinities, but how was he supposed to use them? They were all at 0%. He couldn’t just think them into existence.

"System, how do I increase my comprehension of elents?" he asked.

[Ding!! A normal person has to either practice so elental techniques or consu so elental treasures to increase mastery and control over an elent, so skills also increase mastery over elents. anwhile, sitting in an environnt where the elent is dominant can also be helpful for example sitting near glaciers to comprehend ice.

So in the crux, the ways are many but the most common are cultivation techniques, but those are rare in this world]

Klaus winced. "Oh no, System, you should have told earlier! I’ve spent all my draw points!"

Cultivation techniques sounded like the most straightforward way, but they were rare, and he had no DP left for a draw. Talk about bad timing.

System calmly replied to his ramblings.

[anwhile, using a technique is the easy way, but the system wants the Host to reach the top, so unconventional thods are needed.]

"What do you an?" Klaus asked, raising an eyebrow. Then, a sudden, exciting thought sparked in his mind, and a wide grin spread across his face.

"He-he, how could I forget this? I have Origin Absorption skills! Are you thinking the sa thing, System?"

[Yes, Host. Killing elental monsters and absorbing them will save much of your ti, and anwhile, it will also supplent your battle ability, your experience, and your killing intent.]

The system confird, then added.

[Investing DP on a cultivation technique which is not at least God Rank will only hinder the potential of the Dragon Heir.]

"So I should use other thods, then," Klaus mused aloud. "Fine, I guess that’s what I will do." Killing monsters, absorbing their elental essence, and getting stronger in the process—it sounded perfectly suited to his new abilities and his quest for revenge. It was efficient, brutal, and exactly what the ’inheritor of the Devouring Dragon’ should be doing.

"I guess it’s ti to enter that gate," Klaus said, looking towards the window. He had already bought a pass for a D-rank gate nearby, valid for a week. He planned to make the absolute most of it. He wouldn’t co out until the week was up, imrsing himself completely in the hunt.

Klaus started packing his bag, well more like stocking up his inventory. he stuffed most of his clothes and important stuff in the inventory, and he also added so food supplies besides all other items.

With that, he left his room and headed out. This ti, he hailed a taxi, sothing the old Klaus, the struggling F-rank porter, would never have even considered.

He noticed the subtle shift in himself, a quiet confidence that hadn’t been there before. His self-esteem had increased, and his mood had improved.

He wasn’t sure if it was just psychological, or if removing that hateful Roach trait had affected his ntal state.

Maybe that was the key difference between skills and traits, he thought. He asked the system for confirmation, but it simply replied that he should figure it out himself.

As the taxi drove through the bustling streets of the capital city, the hot afternoon air swirling outside, Klaus caught his reflection in the window.

His appearance had changed pretty drastically after the body reconstruction and blood purification pills.

Before, he’d looked like an innocent young teen, possibly a bit on the skinny side. Now, he was lean, tall, and undeniably muscular, with sharp features and a confident vibe more like a model or a pro athlete.

The taxi driver, completely unaware of Klaus’s true identity or his unusual destination, even complinted his looks. The driver probably thought he was so famous, high-ranked hunter heading off to a prestigious event, not a new power user about to dive into a D-rank monster gate.

Klaus ignored the driver’s chatter, his gaze fixed on the passing cityscapes. A whirlwind of thoughts passed through his mind. He had exactly one month left until the academy selections.

This first week would be devoted entirely to that D-rank dungeon. What should he do after that? What kind of monsters would he find, and what elents would they possess that he could absorb? The possibilities were vast and exciting.

"I’ll decide when I get there," he thought, shrugging off the need to plan every single detail. After all, when had his life ever truly gone according to his plans?

With that the car ca to a halt they had reached the entrance of the D-rank monster gate.
