Radio story “When will we move into the refuge?”
Anna leaned against the blurred window, gazing at the tender sprouts of an unknown plant on the windowsill.
Hanging up his coat, Lu Li walked over to the desk with a newspaper in hand.
“When the ti is right.”
It was a typical response from Lu Li.
Anna pursed her lips, resting her chin on her arm, and continued to stare at the fresh green sprouts in the pot.
It was still early, not yet ti for dinner.
After zoning out at the window for a while, Anna rembered the novel she was close to finishing and settled back into the sofa to continue reading.
The newspaper was still reporting on the Zainster Port incident, with ambiguous content that seed only to inform people that sothing had happened, rather than specify what exactly.
While this did not confront people with fear directly, it still sparked a fair amount of panic.
On his way back, Lu Li saw many local residents leaving their hos with luggage and families in tow.
Perhaps they believed Belfast was no longer safe and sought refuge in the countryside or elsewhere.
It was hard to say whether their actions were right or wrong, but one thing was certain—the city was no longer as safe as imagined.
The weather forecast for the day after tomorrow had changed back to light rain, giving people a few more days to move freely.
Once the rainy season began, all outdoor activities would stop, as even the most unscrupulous factory owners would not dare risk letting workers labor in storms.
After flipping through the newspaper, Lu Li started reading so science popularization books.
Before long, the phone rang.
Jojo had found so information that was quite useful.
“I think that Baron has run into so trouble,” Jojo deduced.
Lu Li held the receiver to his ear, flipping to a page with leaves, his gaze not leaving the book on the table as he calmly asked, “Why?”
“Based on my understanding of those nobles, they use banquets as tools for socializing, to elevate their status, and to avoid ridicule from other nobles—they try to make them as perfect as possible, and it’s quite normal to spend ten to twenty days preparing.
But this Baron decided to hire an Exorcist yesterday and host a reception tomorrow night.
I’ve never heard of such an efficient noble; she’s practically a heretic.”
“Anything else?”
From the receiver, Jojo’s hearty laugh ca through: “Hahaha, I knew that reason wouldn’t convince you.
Rember the news about her and a slanderer a while ago?
The Baron was supposed to go to court to sue the accuser, but I found out she voluntarily withdrew the lawsuit.
Other than facing trouble, I can’t think of any reason for her to do this.”
“Is there more specific news?”
Jojo’s intelligence could only give Lu Li an idea of what had happened, not knowledge of the specifics.
“No, maybe only the people in the manor know what happened, but I can’t get in.
However, given that she’s hired so many Exorcists, it must be ghosts, right?”
“I understand.
You can co collect your paynt now,” Lu Li replied.
“Thanks, boss!”
After hanging up the phone, Lu Li took the opportunity to call the Alliance Personnel to adjust the radio.
A while later, Jojo and the Alliance Personnel arrived almost simultaneously.
Jojo received a considerable reward from Lu Li, then curiously glanced at the Alliance Personnel who had co to adjust the radio several tis before leaving.
She might have beco interested in the origins of the Alliance Personnel, and given her adventurous nature, she might secretly run off to investigate.
Soon, the Alliance Personnel tuned the radio, told Lu Li the frequency, and reminded him to try not to let ordinary people know about the radio.
The content of the radio would be as harmless as possible, so the problem didn’t lie there, it was in the spread: ordinary people do not possess a trustworthy confidentiality—put another way, for the Exorcist, confidentiality ant not revealing anything to anyone.
But for ordinary people, confidentiality ant not telling…
outsiders.
These ordinary folks who only told “their own people” believed they were still keeping secrets, but those inford “their own people” would in turn go tell their “own people”.
Everyone was “keeping secrets”, yet inexplicably the ssage spread.
After the Alliance Personnel left, Anna materialized, circling the radio and mumbling, occasionally tapping it: “There’s no sound…
is the radio broken?”
“The broadcast starts after six in the evening.”
“Oh.”
Anna leaned back into the sofa, picking up her novel again.
As ti passed, it began to grow dark outside, Anna lit the oil lamp, and went into the kitchen to prepare dinner.
When the sky grew so dim that not a sliver of light remained, the drawn curtains shielded the interior of the Detective Agency.
Anna lit a second oil lamp by the dining table, wound the springs, turned on the radio, and sat down next to Lu Li on the edge of the sofa.
The hands on the clock were nearing 6 o’clock.
But it wasn’t until 6:03 that a slightly static-filled elderly voice ca through the radio.
[We et again, friends.
I’m Will Ken, and today I will be hosting the broadcast *sigh*]
“It’s not on ti again,” Anna muttered, wanting to adjust the ti, but was stopped by Lu Li.
It’s normal for the radio to have a delay since it broadcasts to the whole continent.
The elderly voice from the radio did not share the gloominess of its tone; on the contrary, the voice was pitched high, sounding like a bar patron who was rrily boasting about his adventurous love life.
Next, this old man nad Will Ken told a true story on the radio.
An investigator accepted a case and went to investigate a deserted town, because so strange noises from the town had been unsettling the locals.
Upon arrival, the investigator encountered so exceptionally powerful spirits, and unexpectedly, there were still survivors in the town.
The survivors told the investigator that they were trapped in the town, and any attempt to leave would imdiately send them back to the center of the town, unable to escape.
Having gathered information, the investigator began to figure out a way to escape with them and painstakingly cracked the conundrum, allowing them to flee the town.
But the investigator inevitably encountered the enemy.
[Those terrifying spirits could toy with everything at will, it was an Evil God-like thod that struck terror into the hearts of people, who before them were like lambs waiting for the slaughter.
However, our investigator found a way to deal with them: they were as fragile as people and could be killed.
The reason for this discovery was that the investigator saw a spirit tornting an innocent girl to death and rushed over to strike it]
[The investigator was discovered by the spirits.
To allow the survivors to escape, he stayed to fight with the spirits, and the fight was unequal; besides the spirit killed at the beginning, the investigator was unable to defeat more spirits, and both his body and soul were consud clean.
However, the investigator successfully made his choice: he saved the survivors]
[Even though this young investigator left us, his actions were recorded by the survivors who escaped and told to us, making it quite easy for us to take care of the weirdness of this town afterward]
[That’s the end of the story, and what I want to say is *pause*]
